If you are looking for a calm, professional, horse centered environment, this may not be the barn for you. North Peak Equestrian has a long pattern of instability, turnover, and unnecessary drama that creates ongoing stress for boarders and trainers alike.
Equine professionals and boarders are frequently dismissed without warning, making it difficult to build lasting relationships with trainers, farriers, veterinarians, or fellow boarders. Many people have learned the hard way not to get too attached. Since the current owner purchased the facility, there have been multiple mass departures that left remaining boarders confused and unsettled.
The owner does not appear to have a background in riding or horse management and lacks a clear understanding of equine care or barn operations. Money is spent on large projects that offer little benefit to horses or boarders, while basic necessities such as adequate bedding are minimized. Boarders are encouraged to purchase stall mattresses at their own expense, with no ability to take them when they leave.
Despite being marketed as the East Bay's "Premier Equestrian Facility," the only thing that feels premium is the board price. The atmosphere often feels tense, as boarders walk on eggshells amid ongoing conflict and uncertainty. The barn is also advertised as full service, yet stall cleaning is not included in board. Boarders must pay assigned independent contractors and cannot choose their own cleaner. Even if you clean your own stall, you are required to pay the assigned stall cleaner.
Security is another concern. There have been car break ins on the property, and the existing security cameras are limited to barn aisles and do not address parking areas. A recent barn fire further added to concerns, although thankfully no people or horses were injured.
Several former boarders report that the owner has contacted other barns to speak negatively about them after they left. Additionally, the property itself does not reflect the high end image suggested by the pricing and is often described as cluttered rather than luxurious.
At its core, North Peak Equestrian is an expensive barn marked by instability, high stress, and unmet expectations. Prospective boarders should think carefully before committing. read more
