Great place to learn how to ride and much more. The lessons and camps are great and they have an apprenticeship program my daughter loves were kids can go up to six days a week.

Camp

Awesome teachers and staff. Great experience for our granddaughter. Summer camps are wonderful.

Hasn't honored our Groupon despite multiple attempts. We did get to go to one session (supposed to have 3) and it was fine. Although she uses "apprentices" for trainers, at no time did I see an adult other than parents. Groupon was more than happy to refund me but I told them I wanted to give her a chance to fulfill the 3 sessions. Now its been over 4 months. This isn't a well run business. This is someone's hobby that shes figured out how to finance.

Every little girl dreams of becoming a princess..... Not my little angel.... she wants to be a cowgirl! and when the little merry-go-rounds at Nut Tree or the beautiful double decker merry-go-round at Solano mall doesn't pacify her desire to yell giddy up.... what's a Mother to do? Horse riding lessons. I happen to find an excellent groupon for 5 private one hour lessons at CRA. I bought the groupon, called that day and within an hour my daughter had her first lesson set up to go. I am very impressed by the owner Nancy, she is very friendly and patient with us city slickers and a champion horsewoman with photos of her, her horses, numerous ribbons and 'purses'. My daughter started out on a beautiful pony, Goldie, the perfect size for her and has an incredible 14 year old Coach, Caroline. I was a little caught off by a child teaching my child to ride a horse but I was amazed at the knowledge Caroline had of horses, the control, and handling. Safety is a big factor, all riders wear helmets, wear proper attire, and learn horse safety. CRA has a several lesson packages, internships, and summer camps. Oh most importantly.... watch out for the poop-poo nuggets and don't wear sandals.

The trainers Brittany and ??? We're great. They were warm and welcoming. They were on-time. They worked well with my son and niece, neither of whom had ever ridden before. They spent a short amount of time teaching them how to groom the horses and most of the time learning to ride. The woman who booked our appointment stopped in the middle of booking our appointment to argue with someone else for about 5.5 minutes. I heard the entire argument and it should have definitely been a private business conversation. Finally, she told the woman she was on a call. But we scheduled and were excited anyway. Upon arrival, we had no idea where to go, as there are no signs. The desk person had a very bad demeanor and wasn't welcoming. But if you take her and the phone woman (who could be one in the same person) out of the equation, it was nice. Oh I think the horse they put my niece in had a broke or hurt hind right leg.

Here she is off the lead with her instructor, Nikki.

My six year old has been coming here for six months and loves her pony, Patches! I definitely recommend this place. Jennifer was the first to teach her and was kind, gentle, patient, yet firm with her instructions. My daughter gives her a hug every time we go. Nikki also has been instructing her and she is a very confident young lady who gives my daughter encouragement and positive reinforcement while on the horse. They are professional and passionate about what they do. Nancy is the owner and is there to watch her students learn and grow. Definitely say hi when you go. She is pleasant and a real gem. Any concerns or compliments are welcome here. They want to make sure you are getting all that your rider needs. We will be continuing our lessons here.

They just celebrated their 10-year anniversary, and I can honestly say they've created something really special. I always joke that I'm terrified of losing our spot at Rebel. The anxiety is REAL when that registration email comes through! Rebel Art School will truly make an artist out of you. When my daughter first started, she spoke mostly Spanish, so I wondered if that would be a challenge for her. I quickly learned that art doesn't require a specific language. It's its own language. My daughter is also naturally shy and tends to keep to herself. She's not usually the kid who will walk into a room and immediately try to make new friends. But Rebel gives her the freedom to be in her own space, focused on what she's creating, without ever making her feel like she needs to be an extrovert. And when she does connect with people, it happens naturally. It has been such a wonderful experience for our whole family. Now, at nine years old, my daughter has created her own little business. She makes watercolor greeting cards, sells them at different pop-ups, and even has her own sweet little corner in Rebel's retail area. Watching her creativity grow into something she's proud enough to share with the world has been one of the coolest things to witness as her mama. And honestly, one of the best parts for me is getting to fill our home with all the art and color she has created over the years. Every piece has a little memory attached to it. So if you have a little one who you think would thrive in this kind of environment, don't hesitate. This is a REAL art school, and it's such a special one. Now we just need to convince Alex to bring Rebel to Oakland someday. Wink wink. We love you all! Claudia + Colette

Rebel Art School is one of those places that I wish every family could find for their kids…read more Our oldest has been homeschooled his entire life because he received a liver and kidney transplant when he was very young and remains immunocompromised. His education has consequently involved a lot of computers and technology. He also has developmental delays and clinically diagnosed difficulties with dexterity, so when we first found Rebel, we were excited about simply giving him a chance to unplug, use his hands, and experience a completely different kind of learning. What we didn't anticipate was just how important Rebel would become to him. Art has challenged his fine motor skills in ways that are productive and enjoyable. He is painting, drawing, sculpting, building, and working with different tools and materials, all while strengthening skills that are genuinely difficult for him. Instead of feeling like he's working on something he struggles with, he's proud of what he's making. But what Rebel has given him socially may be even more valuable. When you homeschool a child, finding meaningful opportunities to build relationships and feel like part of a group can take some extra effort. At Rebel, that happened naturally. He has formed relationships with his instructors and classmates, he gets excited about going, and he has a community that belongs to him independently of us. Watching that develop has meant more to me as his mom than I can really put into a review. Our experience was so positive that we eventually signed up his younger brother too. He's now almost through his first semester, and we've watched him find his own place there in an entirely different way. Both boys have participated in Rebel's summer camps as well, and those have become something our family looks forward to every year. Something else I really appreciate is that Rebel doesn't confuse teaching technique with teaching conformity. The kids are absolutely learning how to use materials, develop skills, and understand artistic concepts, but they aren't being taught that everyone's finished product should look identical. Their individual perspective is treated as part of the art. Their ideas aren't corrected out of them. They're encouraged to take what they're learning and make something that actually feels like theirs. I think kids desperately need more of that. They need places where imagination is taken seriously. Where making something unusual isn't automatically making it wrong. Where they can try something, discover it doesn't work, change direction, and keep going. Art gives children a language for things they may not always know how to put into words, and Rebel understands that beautifully. As a parent, I'm also incredibly particular about the environments I trust with my children. Rebel is somewhere I can send them knowing they are cared for, respected, encouraged, and surrounded by adults who genuinely seem to enjoy helping kids discover what they're capable of. I thought I was signing my son up to learn art. Instead, we found something that has supported him physically, socially, creatively, and emotionally, and eventually became something his brother could call his own too. So if you're asking me if I would recommend Rebel Art School? 10,000 times over, we recommend them!

First, I don't recommend this for children entering K or younger. Our youngest is four (entering…read moreTK), but we kept her out this year because there are too many big kids and not enough supervision and structure. Basically, this place is a free-for-all for elementary and younger middle school students. Also, the bathrooms. Hit or miss. First day, one had ants and another one had poop. Last day, everything was clean and well-stocked. I realize that that's up to the janitorial staff of the host school and not S&K, but that is an area for improvement. With that said, Jenbert Jr 1 (6.5 years, entering 1st grade) had so much fun here. On her first day she played soccer, read in the library, made a bracelet, played interactive games with the counselors, went down the slip & slide, and played on the playground. She came back with an equally big smile on her face after the second day talking about finding Chucky the chicken, all the games she played, and pieing volunteers in the face. Jenbert Jr 1 is usually a fussy eater but she liked a lot of the meals here. She enjoyed the rest of her time here and can't wait to come back next year. As a parent, I love the flexibility, variety of activities (both the core and rotating), and the fact that nut-free lunch and snacks are provided. There are also veg and GF options. I also like that you only pay for what you use. We are looking forward to returning in 2027!

My kid and her friend registered for the last week of summer camp. They arrived at 9 a.m., but…read moreunfortunately, many things weren't open until 10:30 a.m. Consequently, they had limited options for activities. Even the open activities were completely full. When things finally opened, there were extremely long lines, and they were unable to participate in any activities except for a 20-minute sewing session before being excused for lunch. They were repeatedly told to return an hour later on many activities, so they tried the library, which was closed, and then searched for athletic equipment like balls or anything, only finding none that weren't already being played with. In essence, the kids were left with no options and were forced to sit around and observed other kids doing the same, which is not what we expected from what was advertised. I understand that the camp has a high number of kids the last week of summer, but it should not compromise their overall experience. I had to pick them up early because they literally had nothing to do. I am a working mom and was really hoping this camp would have worked out for them for the next day. Therefore, I requested a full refund but nobody ever got back to me about it. Super disappointing and a fair warning for others who are looking to enroll in this summer camp in the future.
