****** Questionable Business Practices ****** This company lacks MORALS and business ETHICS. I would NOT suggest this company to my worst enemy let alone family, close friends or total strangers.
If I had an option to give this company zero or negative stars, I most certainly would. Anyone who says, "friendly staff" has never encountered Diane. Initially, I tried to give Diane the benefit of the doubt for her poor attitude. Maybe, she was having a bad day, tired or ill. Ultimately, I came to the conclusion she was simply a negative individual who is catty, sarcastic, condescending and patronizing to a prospective customer. My goodness, how would this horrible woman treat me after she got my money? I am grateful, I dodged a serious bullet with this company.
The short period of time I was in the facility, Diane snapped at her co-worker twice. At first, I didn't think much about it, until she snapped at her a third time. I became very uncomfortable for the co-worker and myself. The co-worker apologized to Diane for a third time with a hurt look on her face. Diane did not apologize to her coworker for her inappropriate behavior. Instead, she made an excuse for her unprofessional behavior (in front of a prospective customer). This was the first questionable sign I would leave and find an ethical company to do business with.
My husband visited the facility on my request earlier in the day. I actually asked him to go to the storage facility on North Main near the freeway. Regardless of going to the wrong place, their facility sounded adequate for my needs. We drove back after work to solidify the deal. I needed a storage unit for 3 months, which I planned on paying in full. Diane didn't greet us when we walked in, show us her facility or minimally the storage unit. (2nd questionable sign)
She handed me a paper to fill out which requested my social security number. I questioned why she needed a social security number. She stated, "The system requests the SS# and she can't move past the field without the number. This statement turned out to be a falsehood (unethical) 3rd questionable sign. I explained, I am not asking for a loan or line of credit. I am paying in full for the time I need the storage. Diane said, "We have a secure and safe system." I rebutted, "I am sure Home Depot, Target and Anthem Blue Cross all believed they had a safe system, but we all know how that turned out." I told Diane I would give her any information she wanted, except my social security number. She asked for the last 4 digits of my SS# and I agreed to those terms. Unfortunately, Diane couldn't take me agreeing to the last 4 digits as a win for her. She had an overwhelming urge to be spiteful and say, "You know this does not make me happy." (4th questionable sign)
Even though, Diane was not "happy" I was content I did not give my SS# to a stranger that had no legitimate reason for asking for such a sensitive piece of information. I decided to continue the transaction. In the meantime, she took my 3-month payment for the storage area then handed me the rules. I read them over aloud so my husband could hear. I had circled one rule that was incomplete, I believe rule 2 or 3. It referred to being in the facility past closing and a charge of $25.00. However, the section did not specify the hours. I circled the area to remind myself to ask about the hours. I didn't realize Diane was annoyed with my action until shortly later.
She gave me yet another paper to sign, which I read again aloud for the benefit of my husband. This particular paper stated, I was paying for insurance however, the company was not responsible for my property. I questioned what the insurance was for exactly. Instead of answering my question directly. She reprimanded me to underlining the clause. She went on to explain the definition of the word "insurance" and proceeded to give me examples of insurance (5th questionable sign).
Innocent me, making excuses for this woman in my own mind still went on to the contract. She put the contract in front of me and said, "initial here." She turned 3 or 4 pages and said, "sign here." I picked up the contract and said, "you do understand, I will read the contract." Diane said, "read it to yourself quietly and DO NOT write on MY contract." (6th and last questionable sign.) Scrolled on the office wall states, "If You Can't Say Something Nice, Be Quiet." I found that simply ironic.
If you managed to read to the bottom of my review... there is a storage facility in VIEW of North Main Storage facility (look North).
