It was really refreshing to see, and for the most part, people there were also taking care of the park during its use as well. We saw other kids his age there as well at the base of the orb with their parents. He became completely fixated on traversing through the orb thing in the middle of the playground, as one would be as it's an amazing structure. He kept trying over and over and over to go up the ropes and into the first layer of the orb. He was scared, the layers of the orb are made with rope, and I had to go with him while helping him physically, which was heavy on me physically, and I am fit. There were certain parts in that first 'orb layer' that had no net and a steep drop off to the ground. My boy thought it might be fun to try jumping off of it so I had to fight against him to keep him from those parts. I went down the slide with him in my lap to get down. We tried every single time to distract and recenter his focus to get him to try the other playground areas but he was fixated on that orb and wouldn't stop. He is athletic at 55 lbs so usually he prefers the big kid areas at parks. We ended up having to carry him out with him crying, kicking, and screaming due to this playground orb feature. We went to another nearby playground, which was a blast.

Great neighborhood park!…read more There are paved walking paths that lead wound the park and end into the neighborhoods. There is even a beautiful metal and wood bridge that crosses the creek. The playground is small but kept neat. They replaced the wood chips with AstroTurf to give the park a modern look. The equipment is great for little kids. There's a basketball court for the older kids and there's a gazebo with tables so you can take a rest from all the fun. Even grills if you want to have a cookout. There are tables and trash cans placed around the park so you can have your own celebration. The park is usually quiet during the week. On weekends there are events like soccer games or workout sessions. The walking paths in the park are lit at night with lamp posts but there were less lights as you get closer to the neighborhoods. So I would bring a flashlight if you fancy a night stroll. Overall, a great little park!

Picnic tables usually have good shade, but it does depend on time of day / sun location. There's somewhat of a little kid and big kid structure, IMHO. The little kid side is accessible by, say, 1.5- to 2-year olds. The taller structure is probably 4-year olds minimum and good for up to... maybe 10? Ish? It's pretty tall. One pair of little kid swings and one pair of regular swings. Generally pretty clean, so please help keep it that way! Plenty of trash cans and recycle bins. Occasionally there are groups - generally birthday parties, I'd say - that do leave messes. North of the playground the concrete path continues into one of the adjacent neighborhoods, and there are some grassy areas that are good for games like frisbee, etc. See pictures for more, plus park rules and when the park is open.

I remember there were talks to turn the pool into a skate park. At the end, they city decided to go with a splash park. Around the splash park, there are tennis courts, tables and grills, baseball fields, playgrounds, walking trails and open fields for picnics or a quick game of touch football/soccer. There are plenty of trash cans around and the restrooms are usually clean. The weekends during the warmer months are pretty crowded as it's available on a first-come-first-serve-basis. I'm not sure if you can reserve the park, but there is a number available on their website. Best of all, this park is free!!! Great fun for the entire family!

Despite the constant flooding that occurs in the area when it rains, I feel like they still do what they can to make sure they keep up the park. They've actually expanded the width of the sidewalks which is great for the rapidly growing area. They've also added a flower garden for those who want to sightsee. The pavilion is also kept up nicely, be sure to arrive early because it is constantly being used by large groups for events and etc. The one thing I do wish they had along this part of the trail are bathrooms and better water fountains. But it's great if you like to stay active with biking and running and there is plenty of parking and it does feel safe for the most part. Spring/ early summer is a great time of year to go and check it out, stay cool under the shaded trees and enjoy nature!

There's slight shade coverage over the structures, but not a whole lot to protect from the summer heat. There's a paved walking trail with (clean) exercise equipment around the park and open grassy area. The playground was empty on Sunday morning, but there were quite a few dog walkers along the paved trail. The only cons about the park is that street parking is a short trek from the playground and there's not a lot of shade cover.
