It is a venue that has a lot of potential, with both the inside of the building and the outdoor field where ABR is held available as potential space. I guess I would say that I feel the ABR is too big for this venue and there are parking issues (not to mention the wrap-around-the-block hour-long wait to get through the gate). Other things I've been to at this facility seemed better suited. For the record, I do think that reusing an old building period is awesome. It's way better than just letting it sit there. :-)

You turn jn on a windy private road that takes you right over a substantial creek that could not be more enchanting. It is perfection in nature, and even the quaint bridge looks like it grew there. The hosta and floral gardens that line the driveway are delightful and finish setting the tone for the event. Ample parkjng is available , very close to the barn/reception. Not only is this barn new, it is AIR CONDITIONED! !! BOOM !! The architect and designer really nailed it on this facility. There is a comfy Bride's Room (with private restroom), a Grooms Area, a large walk up bar, large restrooms, a tall ceiling, and a small kitchen for the caterers. For me, the the most incredible feature was the giant sized barn doors located behind the head table. When they were majestically flung open, the sun and outside came in. It was almost spiritual, like when the Priest opens the Holy Doors. There were a couple lawn games for guests to enjoy, several tables under a shaded porch, a patio with a huge firepit, and lots of room for frolicking outside. Wine barrels were everywhere so there was always someplace to set your beverage. The ceremony site I saw was hidden and absolutely stunning. Perfectly etched out of the prevailing landscape. I'm new to discovering The Trailhead at Theodore Wirth Regional Park, but believe me when I say I'll be back many more time. In the winter, they offer cross-country skiing and lessons. (You can rent a full set of gear for about $30- no need to have your own to experience skiing! They also have à la carte options for cheaper if you only need poles or boots, etc.) Besides skiing, outdoor winter activities also include snow tubing, snowboarding, snowshoeing.... You name it. (I haven't been in fall or summer yet, but I also hear great things about their mountain biking and trail running options.) Inside The Trailhead, there's food and drink concessions, ample seating, lockers, bathrooms, and even rooms for rent. The last time I was there, a family was hosting a young child's birthday party in the multi-purpose room. Altogether, there is an amazing assortment of services here to come and check out. The building is a perfect space for bringing a large group together for games, chatting, eating, and sledding on the snowy hills just outside the doors. They used to serve hot food, but they no longer have that option. The food was not consistent or anything all that special, but it was a nice option. This time we brought Thanksgiving leftovers and some breakfast bagel sandwiches. The space is well maintained and clean. It is spacious and has lots of room for young kids to run around and not be a disturbance. Always look forward to coming here.

The space is updated, and a number of people mentioned how nicely it was decorated. There is street parking all around, and a couple of lots further down the street. FYI: As with other rental spaces, there is a list of items that you can't use in the space - candles, confetti, etc . . ., but they have it all listed on the website under the FAQs, so you know upfront what you are getting into. Also, you have to clean the space when you are finished using it, not a big deal, just make sure you factor that into the rental time. If I were in need of this kind of space again, I would definitely use this space again.

There were only three of us bridesmaids, but even with others stopping in to see the bride, there was plenty of room to get ready. The best part was that there was a lot of natural lighting & lots of mirrors for us to use. I didn't see the grooms suite but there was a separate building for that as well! The wedding ceremony area had luscious grass with seating benches for the guests & big wooden doors for a grand entrance. It was nice for the wedding party to be able walk down & then have a pause (with doors closed) as the bride stepped up for her entrance. The reception was then held inside the big barn building just off to the side from the ceremony. The space was large with wooden tables & chairs set up for guests. Although we didn't use it, there was a firepit next to the building for use as well! Drinks & appetizers were served before the reception started at the side barn building. It was just a few feet away from the main reception. My favorite though, was the barn space that was first seen when entering the venue from the parking lot. Our friends had opted to utilize it for photos to put inside the guest book! Overall, a cute venue. Since I was a guest, I don't know any of the logistics of touring / reserving the space but my friend (the bride) did say that they're booked up pretty much every weekend!
