We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for wine tasting. First, the venue is beautiful with a nice spacious area for dining, a large bar for wine tasting and a large outdoor patio with views of the vineyard. In the main dining area, there is a stage for bands. We walked up to the bar which was full but found a spot to squeeze in. The wine tasting area had several wine servers behind the bar. We waited for quite some time before a wine server greeted us and asked us what we were interested in tasting. We asked what was offered as far as wine tastings as it appeared there were a couple of different wine tasting events taking place. She looked at us with confusion and asked what we were interested in tasting. We read about the cheese and wine pairing so we said we would do that. We asked about each of the wines and she put the wine & cheese sign with descriptions in front of us and asked what we wanted to do. She couldn't really explain the wine herself. Again, confused why she is asking that since it's 5 wines with a 5 cheese pairing, We said we will just go down the list. She brought us complimentary wine glasses and poured the first wine. She also handed us cheese on toothpicks we all had to figure out how to grab from her fingers. Perhaps a plate or napkin? We waited for about 15 minutes before she came back and she looked at us and said no one is helping you? We thought she would but I guess not. We proceeded down the list, jumbling the cheese on toothpicks, and waited for the next tasting but we were forgotten once again. It took a while but we made it through the tasting. I'm a red wine person but the red wines were sour in my opinion. I realize this is WI and not CA or France so obviously the wine is different. We did buy a couple of bottles of their Pony which is a Rose as well as the ale Crescent. We wanted to purchase a couple of the different cheese that we tasted but they didn't have any to purchase. The venue is beautiful and a great place for events. The wine servers definitely need training in how to service guests and learn about the wine. Also, no one wants to eat out of someone's hands. At least provide napkins they can hand the food to the wine taster with a napkin. . read more

Our second winery location is also down the street from the border of Minnesota. This winery is beautiful, with huge parking lot and building. Inside looks like a big cabin, half was a restaurant and the other is retail and bar. You'll order the flights or glass at the bar. There's indoor seating and outdoor that faces the vineyards. My flight came with bites to pair. Which I thought was fabulous. They have a big food menu to order from. Each flight comes with a souvenir glass to take home. read more

My friends and I came here during a little girls weekend in Taylor's Falls nearby, and this was the perfect little spot to celebrate our trip! There's a beautiful outdoor patio where you overlook the vineyard, with some shaded and some sunny seating. I didn't see any indoor seating, but I'm sure it's in a back room somewhere that we didn't see. The minute you walk in there's a wall covered in their wine, a cute little gift shop area, and a large wine bar to place your orders. It's very cozy and Tuscan feeling, exactly what you want in a wine bar! The service here was excellent - John at the counter was an all-star for us! He was great at recommending different wines based on what we liked, and going through each wine we were interested in and allowing us to taste it. He was so fun and patient with our group of 7, it really made our experience! After trying a couple of the wines, myself and two others loved Jig - a semi-sweet white, and bought a bottle. This was some of my favorite wine I've had so I decided to grab a bottle - only $19! All of the bottles I looked at were definitely reasonably priced, if not a great deal for how delicious the wine is. The food here was also delicious - nothing super crazy to go out of your way for, but I felt like it was great for a summer day where the main event is the wine. BREAD & SPREADS: We got the olive tapenade and herbed olive oil. Nothing crazy, but a nice little way to start the meal. BRUSCETTA: Really delicious and fresh! Again, nothing unique but I would recommend this over the bread and spreads. RITA HAYWORTH: Your basic margarita pizza - very delicious! AUDREY HEPBURN: More like a cheesy bread you dip in sauce, this is a great appetizer! I wish we had switched this out for a flatbread and dip so we could've tried for some variety. FOGHORN LEGHORN: Really delicious and unique! Loved the Italian flavors with a twist. I wish we had gotten more of their specialty pizzas! What a wonderful.experience. We went to another winery in St Croix it wasn't a very good experience. The pizza was delicious we had the Kermit pizza. The service was wonderful with a smile.and very helpful. Made you feel welcome and wanted. Jelpnus out with a flight ofneine and what steps to take has it was our first time. The ambiance was very beautiful and relaxing. It was winter so were inside. Nothing special about them inside just pleasant. The flights were on a rack and a good amount. First, I'll Starr by saying I wish I could give 3.5 stars. I feel the winery is a little better than average. Signed up to do the tour. That was ok, but left something to be desired. I was expecting to see way more of the vineyard and hear about all of the grapes grown and get a few samples along the way. Instead, we mostly heard about how many acres the owners have and saw a couple pieces of the production equipment. And got a sample of tawny port (definitely not a 'for everyone' wine, not to mention its probably the booziest one they have, so you've got a bunch of lit people coming in from the tour). I guess I would just say, I wouldn't spend time or money on the tour. We got in and wanted to have a couple glasses and get some food. Our server, Judy, was very nice and helpful for understanding the menu. I was a little surprised that none of their Rosé were on any tasting menu. That was a bit of a disappointment, especially in the summer. I ended up just going for a glass each of the Rosés on the menu. Others in my group got tasting flights. I thought it was kind of cool that they gave you some small bites to pair with your flight, but those took so long to come out, most of my group was already halfway through drinking before their tasting plate came out. We all liked the wine we tried and grabbed a couple bottle to take home. The outdoor space is very nice and the covered patio was nice to stay out of the sun but still enjoy the nice weather. I could also see it being nice if it was just sprinkling out, you could probably still sit outside and not get wet. The couple food bites that were tried were also liked. Overall, come sit outside with a glass of your favorite and get a small bite. Skip the tour and the tastings. read more

Okay, the wine was good. Fudge was amazing!! The service, food, and atmosphere was terrible.. I came at 7pm and the outside seating area had no lights so it was completely pitch black? All the heaters were off and we asked 3 different people who all said they'd turn them on- never did.. never get your food checked on.. my sandwich had no sauce.. But it's a beautiful place, it's sad they don't have the service and food to go with it! read more

Went to a paint & sip event that was wonderful, had a great instructor and price included a drink. Ordered food to go with our drink (baked cheese!!!). When the event was complete it was almost closing time, so we left. The next day we returned after trying another local vineyard that didnt have the ambiance of a vineyard! Dancing Dragonfly didnt let us down! Their wine tasting & food pairing was great, you get a souvenir wine glass with it. I hosted a bachelorette party here and we had a great time! It was fairly easy to plan the event with their event coordinator, and we got a designated server for our table. Prices are VERY reasonable! Wine is great. Food is good. I did feel like our party was forgotten about halfway into the party. Our server was working wine tasting and I had to get up several times to grab someone's attention to order more food, get adequate silverware, etc. I wish we had a little more attention but other than that everything was great. read more

This is a young winery that is well worth visiting if you live near the twin cities and would like to take a scenic little road trip with a fabulous end destination. The grounds are not as gorgeous as other wineries I have visiting. Pretty much in a big flat open space very close to residential housing. It is 10.00 to sample five 1 ounce pours and you keep your glass. If you come back with your glass it is only 5.00 next time. A glass of wine will run you around 7-10 dollars. They are roughly 5-6 ounce pours. I enjoyed all the wines I sampled very much and it exceeded my expectations. I like a dry wine and sometimes you don't find that. My two faves were Bill's Minuet and Bill's Waltz. One was a white and the other Red. The two best of the day for me. They are named for dancing like shashay, cha-cha-hula-etc. I thought a bottle was a tad on the expensive side-right around 40.00 - The building is very nice and will be much appreciated in the colder weather or to have an event. Things they can improve upon would be to get better music in there---the live music they advertised was lame. I was expecting a guy with a guitar singing James Taylor, Eagles, John Denver, getting the crowd engaged and keeping the party rocking and people drinking. He also should have been outside on such a gorgeous day instead of inside. They need little fire pits outside on the patio--it would be lovely to bring a throw in the fall and just hang and talk with people while enjoying a glass or two. The wood fired pizzas looked amazing and I will have one next time. I love the logo and believe this winery will only get better and better with time. read more

Darla is spectacular and goes above and beyond to make your experience fantastic. She is one of the reasons we continue to come back. My favorite vineyard ever! If you don't like Midwest wines and prefer California... you may like DDW. Their wines are not that nasty tanniny weird taste that most Frontenac grapes have. They have every range of red and white from sweet to dry. It's hard to find a true Midwestern comparison to a Cab or Merlot but you may find what you like here. And their poets, holy crap are they good. I have never liked ports until I met Tango, Bossa Nova, and Bolero. I don't like sweet wines but nothing to dry or oaky, my preference is Conga (red), Drangonfly Nouveau (red), Boogaloo (rose), Promenade (white). If you are in the area you must stop for a tasting and a wood fired pizza. read more

Definitely skip this vineyard! The food was terrible and the wait time was horrific. My friends and I waited over an hour for some so-called bruschetta, which was basically diced tomatoes on some oily Texas toast. Is someone too lazy to Google a respectable bruschetta recipe?! Also, another woman told us she had been waiting for over an hour for a meat and cheese board. Seriously, how difficult is that to prepare?! The food needs to live up to the ambiance. Wine and food should amplify each other. The food should sell the wine, during the vineyard visit and later from retail stores. Because of this ridiculous experience, I will never buy a bottle of your wine at a retail store. It was such a disappointment. An all you can eat Chinese buffet would be an improvement over whatever is happening there now. read more

Judy was especially accommodating and kind. She explained the wine in the wine flight we ordered along with the paired bites and was very knowledgable about everything. We enjoyed our wine flight and lunch on the patio overlooking the rows of grapes and I truly felt at peace. When we were leaving and making our wine purchase, Judy took the extra time to explain their Wine Club benefits and we gladly joined. We will begin receiving our Club bottles of wine next month and are really looking forward to them. The Yoga in the Vineyard and Art at the Winery events are already on my calendar! This place is LOVELY! It's OMG romantic and definitely a place I plan on returning with a date, a girls night out or heck all by myself! I'm going to confess- I'm a wine snob. And as an American, probably the worst kind there is- I only drink foreign wines. Up until now. This has been the most lovely red wines I've had in a long time and I felt GREAT after drinking them! I had given up on drinking American wines due to having so many reactions and feeling horrible the next day- yet I never experienced that from any foreign wines. There is something really different about the wine here and haven't put my fingers on it but I'm now kicking myself for only bringing 2 bottles home. A girlfriend and I met up there to check it out and having a relaxing Sunday afternoon out. We both went for a 5 pour sampling and ended up staying until they closed. She isn't even a wine drinker- no lie- and she said she could see herself becoming an alcoholic with how good their wine tasted & felt (she had given up on wine due to reactions as well). She ended up purchasing their winery membership! While there, I had counted 5 different bridal parties having their bachelorette party there as well. So it's a great place for small (and probably large) parties. read more

Ok, so we have been here many times, but I have to say today the service was absolutely horrendous, we stood for over 10 minutes to get waited on with only 1 person in front of us!! But I thought before I would write the review I would wait for the food. We ordered the pretzels and sauce for an "appetizer" plus a pizza and turkey sandwich. To be honest the pizza was a little bland, but the wife said the sandwich (Ginger Rogers) actually tasted pretty good. The pretzels I would love to tell you about but they came after the meals and by than we were pretty full so we are taking them home?? But really who brings the meal before the appetizer?? Super disappointed!! I was truly hoping for better!! But there are a lot of wineries out there and we will continue to visit and taste each one but honestly this will most likely be the last at this one!! read more
