The first group of people were seated on a boat, which is dock next-door. I have a picture of it with the review here. But the most odd thing about the place was not my 10 minute conversation with Ula, who had had a few pops at a local convention and we're talking about the fact that I just seen my mother's home in the inside that she had survived World War II in in NUBOD ER. It was the bathroom. Apparently the owners of this place have a good sense of humor and piped in continuous soundtrack noises of foghorn and ship wars and seagulls. It made Lang waste to the room, an entirely different experience. The food was not bad, but the service was slow because the poor service person was completely overwhelmed. Speed is a big deal in the restaurant business and I was simply a solo diner - actually who am I kidding. Being that I always eat alone, part of the experience is observing other people. So that was actually quite pleasant. Would you recommend going here? Sure. Would I return? Probably not.

They serve smørrebrød (open-faced sandwich) and a nice variety at that. You can get a sandwich without the other piece of bread for about 90DKK average which translates to $10-20. What's nice about smørrebrød is that you can try 2 or more kinds without feeling sick to your stomach. I've visited 2 Aamanns locations while in Copenhagen. What I tried at this location were: Roast Beef Smørrebrød: Roast beef slices with béarnaise, pickled cucumber, mushrooms, crispy potatoes and thyme Pork Belly Smørrebrød: Fried pork belly with apples, cinnamon, kohlrabi and pork cracklings. The restaurant is clean, has natural lighting, has a few tables but it never super crowded so, it was relaxed when I went here.

The rare roast beef flavor may have been our favorite. The chicken salad version was a little lighter and tasty. The salmon one was excellent as well and paired well with a rich aioli. We also tried a sort of deconstructed beef version that was tasty as well. 4 smørrebrød was just about the right amount for two people to share and be quite full. We had originally intended to just grab the to go version from the deli but ended up being seated in the more formal area. In the end, we were glad that we got to have the full experience. Part of which is enjoying little snaps of alcohol as a palate cleanser while you dine. Our waiter made great suggestions for flavors, and even though we were more hesitant about the herbal flavors they served their purpose really well. We can't wait to return.

While they charge for water, when we finished one bottle it was replaced without us having to request another and without an additional charge. The highlights of the meal were the peas (first course; in other countries, it would be a vegetable side dish) and the dessert with strawberries, elderflower, and marshmallows. After American Express concierge fumbled my last-minute reservation into Restaurant Noma, another fine dining restaurant in the city, they recommended this food adventure for me. I will say it was worth it. It is my first ever 20+ course meal (multi-course tasting menu) with a Scandinavian touch. It was paired with wine from the waiting room to the dining room, then a tour of the kitchen by the sous chef and the ability to chill in the back with a bottle of local beer while we prepared our own desserts, to the applause of the restaurant staff. The experience starts from the waiting room with limited lighting and soulful music to get you in the mood and your palette ready for one of the most amazing times I have ever experienced. We had a mini wine tasting with small desserts with an experienced Sommelier that spoke all the Scandinavian languages, Portuguese, French, Spanish, and English. We had a personal server, and he was outstanding in upselling the varieties and the history of the meal being presented to us. I still can't believe I had to pay an extra for water imported Ice glaziers, and there was no magic to it; it didn't taste any different than water. The rare reindeer meat was my second time eating Santa's helper on my trip. It didn't taste any different this time around, not gamy or chewy, but the rare taste didn't do it for me; I could have asked for medium-rare instead rather than going with the flow. Due to my dietary restrictions, they offered an alternate substitute for the Beetroot & 100-year-old Balsamico. In my opinion, the weirdest meal was the Onion with kombu & Vin Jaune; it's just onion soup inside an onion but presented with some class. Reservations to this restaurant is limited as they only cater to about two or three guests per night and are only open from Wednesday to Saturday, and they can fill up really quickly. It's a bit pricy, guys; it will run you about $1000 for the whole shebang. But for that price, it was worth it for me. And I think you will too.

The creativity here is 10/10. Some of the flavors were not my preference flavor wise. Overall, I enjoyed this experience, and the customer service was great. The staff even offered to call us a cab. I can't remember if we actually accepted the offer, nonetheless we really appreciated the offer.

I chose one appetizer, two entrees, and two desserts while my husband had three entrees and one dessert. The entrees and desserts seemed equally sized. We both enjoyed the salted hiramase which is a creamy clean fish that came out elegantly presented in a rose shape. I got the roasted langoustine with pickled pumpkin, orange, and vadouvan followed by the Danish beef tartar with kale, pickled red currant, crispy sourdough and olive sauce. The desserts were the Blood orange with pistachio and sour cream with timut pepper and the Sea buckthorn au surprise (signature dessert that looks like a hedgehog in meringue). I highly recommend both desserts. My husband got the cheese and rye bread dessert, so we got to try all the desserts. We thoroughly enjoyed all our dishes and the service from Frida and Mikkel which was perfectly timed, never rushed or waiting too long between courses and explanations were clear and at a good volume. We had one of the first tables under the window that was slightly below street level and fortunately it was not crowded or noisy. We had a wonderful, relaxing evening. After Mikkel refilled our second bottle of water after dessert, Frida let us know we had to ask for the check when we wanted it and we were welcome to stay as long as we wanted since we had the table for the night. We then had a nice discussion on Danish vs American health care, education, and safety at night. We had an incredible culinary journey with excellent service from Frida and Mikkel and would definitely return when we are in Copenhagen.
