    No. 12 - Brest

Make crêpes, not war!! Especially if the crêpes are as good as the ones at La Galette. La Galette was the choice for dinner with four other pancake-hungry friendos one monday evening. The place was half full when we entered and stayed that way all evening. The music was pop-ish and relaxed, but would have been nice if it perhaps had been a tad more french. I'm not thinking of Edith Piaf style here, but frenching it up a little bit, would definitely add to the atmosphere, which was already quite french, with the waiters speaking the language with each other and the menu being in both Danish and French. Now, let's talk about the food. We ordered a different selection of dinner crêpes. I had No. 12, a dish called Brest, which consisted of a pancake with an egg, ham, tomatoes and a small salad. It was crunchy and soft in all the right places and super, super nice! At first we didn't think we could handle dessert crêpes, but after a little while and some looks at the menu, we changed our minds. I shared a crêpe called Belle Hélène with my friend and it was even better than the dinner crêpe. A delicious mixture of crunchy pancake, sweet vanilla ice cream, a soft and sugary pear and a dash of cream and chocolate sauce, made this a dream of a crêpe! Perhaps the best one I've ever had.

A little place on a little street that resembles a small alley in a small town in France, that's how I feel about this place. Just across the street from another French restaurant (L'education Nationale), this place is also packed with French people during lunch time apart from the few Danish chatters here and there. That alone gives somewhat authentic environment at first. When we got there during lunch time, they have a lunch offer of galette nr 9 or 20 + dessert pancake nr 31, 32 or 33 and drink for 110 kr. It's pretty good deal considering most of the galettes are 70kr up (apart from the dessert ones). I ended up not taking the deal and chose nr 17 instead - Locronan that consists ham, egg, cheese, tomatoes, bacon and salad while my boyfriend got lunch offer (nr 20 - spinach and goat cheese - the vegetarian option). I have never had galette before so I didn't quite know what to expect only that they're like huge pancakes, or glutenfri pancakes more like. I like pancakes in any form from any country, from the thick fluffy breakfast American pancakes, to the usual French crepe, even the sour-dough injera from Ethiopia, so I figured out that I would love galette. ...and which I did! My pancake arrived and despite my initial doubt that I would leave the place hungry (after all, isn't it ONLY a pancake?), that thing was huge! My boyfriend pointed out that mine was not probably authentic at all since I got bacon on mine, but hey - I don't care. Anything is better with bacon, isn't it? Once we demolished our galettes, the waiter asked if we were ready for the dessert. I was groaning when my boyfriend offered me to share, mostly because I was propped full with my pancake but the dessert that came with the lunch offer was quite tiny so we shared the thing. All in all, it was a very nice experience to eat galette. It was my first time and would definitely not be the last. Although I'm somewhat disappointed that the lunch offers only have two options, but if you like it, it is a good enough offer for the money. If not, just order the usual pancake, you'd love it anyway. Service is friendly and efficient and no complaints. I ordered tap water (that says in the menu that it's 10kr but we didn't get charged anyway). 200 DKK for two people for lunch is what I call a good deal.

A small hole in the wall creperie, this is the perfect, dessert, snack, meal, nightcap. I loved this place. Came here for a small dessert after dinner. Left here blown away. Ambience: Cozy, smaller restaurant, with some outdoor seating, this place is comfortable. The staff are friendly. The owner (I assume) is a Canadian fella, who is really helpful in understanding what "chantilly" means. Food: Excellent ingredients, and sounhd logic in the preparations. Simpler crepes can be combined with ice cream, and small modifications can be made. The menu is HUGE, and the crepes allow for satisfaction, not overdone. I highly recommend this place for anyone visiting, for a change, or for something reliable in quality. In case you didn't already know, chantilly means whipped cream.

This place is so cute! Such a quick and relaxed spot for lunch. The crepes are simple, yet tasty, and they have a amazing variety; there's something for almost everyone. We really enjoyed ourselves, only complaint is it wasn't warm enough to eat outside

Nice spot for lunch! Our crepes were yummy and so was the cider. The location is quaint, being tucked in off the main street.
