Ahhhhmazing vegan dish. Not on the menu...but it should be.
Natalie O.

Very cozy French bistro. Friendly staff. Delicious food. Happiness. We started with wine and starters. The olives were nice. They were slightly warmed in an olive oil. We also had almonds that were tasty. And a veggie starter...it might have been crudités. The radishes were amazing and nothing like the radishes I have had here in the states. When we told the waiter I was vegan, he talked to the chef and they were able to make me a vegan plate. I was very surprised and excited. It was sooo delicious!!! The white asparagus was so flavorful. All the veggies were cooked to perfection. I found myself humming while eating. It was that good. Vegans welcome

Oh three little piggies, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways: 1. I'm not sure your location could be ANY better. Hands up for a quick vote of the best street in Copenhagen? What's that? You agree that it's Værnedamsvej, too? Well, fantastic, because it's true. 2. Sometimes a girl likes to walk through a set of doors and feel transformed. This particular girl has some roots in her beloved France and occasionally likes to be transported there, from chilly little Denmark. That happens at Les Trois Cochons. But in fairness, it happens actually before you turn onto Værnedamsvej, because basically that whole street looks like Paris. And THEN you walk through the front door and you're on the Left Bank...if we're being specific. 3. Two magical words: Foie Gras. I can honestly say - and I've eaten a lot of foie gras in my days - that this was, hands down, the best foie gras of my life. No, I'm not exaggerating. 4. One more word: Rillettes. Listen you guys. I lived in the Loire Valley back in the early 2000s. That's where Rillettes COMES from. It is so perfect there, that you might occasionally think, while eating it, "I could die a happy lady, right here, right now." Never in my life - not in other areas of France, not in New York - have I found better Rillettes. Les Trois Cochons, however, made it JUST as good. 5. I had to unbutton my pants when I left. And rest assured, it's not because I drank too much wine and had the desire to (*cough*), nor is it because the food was of that terrible quality that you bloat immediately upon consumption. It's because I wanted to eat everything. And I did. I often gauge a good French meal by whether or not I need to take my pants off afterward. We ate like kings (and queens). Other amazing things were our lovely waiter who knew everything there was to know about the menu, the guys at the bar who suggested some excellent wines while we waited for our reservation, the entrecôte (I still have warm and fuzzy dreams about that one), the desserts, and the basement (it looks like a legit wine cellar, and I believe can be rented out for larger parties). To be revisited, as often as my budget allows.

Finally! A place I can recommend and dream of taking my wife too in Copenhagen. I travel here on business about once a year and while I've never had bad food whilst visiting, it's also never been memorable. Les Trois Cochons has changed that. The dining style was a little different than I am used too, but I loved it. You basically picked your entree from three choices, the rest was up to them (appetizer and dessert). It was a delight to try some new things and everything was fantastic. The total bill (no wine) was incredibly reasonable and as previously mentioned the best food I've had to date in this beautiful city. Will be back if I ever have anyone to impress.

Appetisers - pork rillette, mashed eggplant with goatcheese and fish bradade with fennel

I've wanted to try this place for a long time and when dining week had this restaurant I definitely needed to check it out. I loved the surroundings and the staff was kind a professional, glad to see that the bread wasn't plain white but was with rye and fennel. For startes we had some kind of stew with smoked fish, which was a bit to smokey for me. Starters also included eggplan mashed with goatcheese and it was a bit plain and boring for me. Also has pork rillette with mayo and it was sooo good. Main course was veal served in a big pot with sauce and vegetables served with potatoes and haricot verts on the side. The mashed potatoes was absolutely perfect but I was so disappointed when I've ate the meat. It had large chunks of fat in it. The waitress was really kind, when I told about the mean and they offered us coffee and wine for dessert - free of charge. Desserts was amazing. I love love love creme brulee and this one was good. The praline and chocolate mousse also quite tasty. The whole menu is served in little pots and pans and then you'll share it at the table. I like that kind of serving, my boyfriend hates it - a matter of temper and taste I guess. To sum up - good service and well-cooked food, but overall an average experience.

The appetizers

Went here for a dinner with my family and must say I was not disappointed. Although there had been confusion with my reservation they still have us a great table at just 5 minutes waiting time. We ordered the set menu, which gives you a house of entree but surprises you with appetizers and desert. We were surprised with homemade pate, a crab sallad and the the most delicious roasted beetroot in a bed of horseradish cream. For the entree we all ordered the confit de canard (ATTENTION: if you are uneven numbers, it might be difficult to order different things as entree, as there is a minimum of two orders to get an entree, so we all had to get the same thing [we were three]). The duck was beautifully cooked, presented in a nice copper pot where it was self-serve (we got each on large thigh). The duck really was exceptional. As if this was not enough, they come and introduce us to THREE desserts (doubled to six as we were three people)! The most amazing creme brûlée, a homemade cardamom ice cream with candied nuts, and a homemade almond cake with cherries and diverse berries. To round this incredible experience off, the coffee at the end was extremely good aswell. This must have been expensive you say? This can all be yours for the mild price of 295kr! Really can't wait to go back, and it is extremely romantic. I warn you though that their "free" water costs you 25Kr!
