We had such high hopes walking into Norman Bridal, but our experience has been very disappointing. On August 2nd, my daughter's grandmother purchased a veil here as a gift from her great-grandmother who has passed away. It was meant to be something sentimental and special. The veil was not in stock and we were told it would not be ordered until they had enough orders to submit to the manufacturer. We paid $280 in cash. Since then, my daughter has chosen her gown elsewhere, and we respectfully asked that the transaction be canceled since no veil had been ordered, nothing was in their possession, and no product was received. Unfortunately, Norman Bridal has refused. Their only offer was to let her pick out a different veil, but they do not carry the style she wants, and their "no refund" policy is being applied even when there is literally nothing to return. What makes this even more frustrating is that they have now stopped responding to my emails. Instead of helping us resolve this situation, we are left with silence and a store credit we cannot use. This is especially disappointing given the sentiment behind the purchase -- a gift from a great-grandmother who is no longer with us. Instead of being able to honor that gesture, we're left feeling like $280 of family meaning and memory is being held hostage by a rigid policy. I would caution other families to be very careful here. Read the fine print, and know that even if they haven't ordered or provided the item, they will not give you your money back -- and they may stop responding once you question it. read more

I've been here twice now and the first time I went I had a great experience. It had been a year since then so I decided since I liked it so much I would go again for my senior homecoming court dress. I felt rushed and the girl helping me did not seem like she wanted to be there. I picked out my dress and checked out by giving them my school, occasion, and then I signed the wavier. I later found out that a girl who was also on the same court as me shopped at Norman's and got the same dress. I got my dress after her and the ladies working did not inform me of the girl having the same style. Keep in mind that the dress was $700!! I called and asked what had happened and they told me "technically we don't have to say anything if the color is not the same" . I am super dissatisfied with the service given. read more

I have no good things to say about this place. My best friend wanted to try to find a prom dress. So rude and very pushy. We were rushed the whole time. The lady would come up to us every second and ask if we're ready to try on when we obviously weren't done looking. It took us maybe 15 minutes for us to get out the door bc it was so bad. Of course when we left no one said anything "have a good day" "thanks for coming in" all because we didn't have a dress in our hand. Horrible customer service will never go there again and am definitely making a call to speak with the manager sooner than later. 0/10 do not recommend ever going here. read more

This is Hannah's mom Debby writing on her yelp app After searching several dress shops we finally found a dress that fit my daughter perfectly. It looked stunning on her and we were very pleased with our purchase, however, after being carefully stored for two weeks, we took it out for her 2nd wedding reception in the new place that she lives with her husband. I was horrified to find that the dress had come apart in several different places.....we spent over $1,000 on her dress and for the stitching to come out like that is beyond Okay in my opinion. I would expect a wedding dress to be well made for over $1000, as I would guess anyone would. I sent pictures to the Norman's website and a message the day of her second reception and never heard back from them....Please make sure to look around and carefully inspect the dress that you choose before buying!! And check out the other bridal shops in town. There's actually a shop with used dresses that are considerably less and very nice!! I would 100% recommend Norman's bridal to anyone. I had an amazing experience with the help of my stylist Kyla. I told her was I liked and she knew what dresses to put me in. Then within trying on 4 dresses total the first one was my pick. She makes people feel so comfortable and confident in trying on dresses. I went here the day after Christmas to try on wedding dresses for the first time. The young lady that helping me named Lexi seemed nice enough. But none of the A line style dresses were available in my size. When I asked Lexi for any alternatives she continued to push me towards mermaid dresses that did not fit me. I showed Lexi the dresses I wanted or were interested in and she plainly told me they had nothing in my size. She just didn't seem like she cared and like she was patiently waiting for me to leave. Then my sister said one of her co-workers came up to her pissed because her appointment didn't have anywhere to sit. My mother saw how disappointed I was and made me an appointment at David's Bridal. And when I get there they put me in under garments and a slip. I expected a boutique like Normans to have way better service and variety. Needless to say they lost my business. read more

First off, let me say that if you had a bad time at Norman's, it's because you had unrealistic expectations for your wedding dress shopping. For example, yesterday, as I was shopping for my dress, a call came in from the Springfield location that a bride wanted a dress from the Lebanon store to be in Springfield ready for her. I don't know if she will leave a bad review here, but Norman's is a small business, and if you call the very same day expecting a dress to be transported an hour away, that's ridiculous. It's unrealistic. I had a wonderful day at Norman's. My price point was under $500. There are NOT a lot of up-to-date styles for under $500. You're going to struggle. I couldn't find anything I liked because the style I wanted was a newer, modern vintage. You're going to have to pay $1300 to $2000 for a dress like that. My assistant, Tara, was absolutely wonderful. She did not put me in anything above my price range because she knew I didn't want to spend that kind of money. She did not start bringing down higher priced dresses until I asked her to. Long story short, we did come up on our budget a few hundred dollars, and I was able to find the dress of my dreams with a veil for an awesome price. Every assistant in the store was kind and understanding. I don't know how the Springfield branch is, but the Lebanon branch is wonderful and I don't know how anyone could leave them a poor review - unless they have completely ridiculous expectations for their dress-shopping experience. I will be recommending Norman's to everyone I know. read more

If your looking for an amazing experience I highly recommend visiting Normans Bridal! We were actually on vacation and we were just trying to get dress idea's since we wouldn't all be together again to find a actual dress. My first experience at another boutique was rather defeating to say the least. I knew exactly what i wanted in my head and because the first boutique had nothing like that the consultant tried to convince me out of my idea all together. Katie B at Norman's was absolutely amazing! I instantly felt comfortable with her and she asked me a few questions about my vision and knew exactly what dress i had in my head that no one else could envision! She nailed it on the first dress she picked out! I tried on a few more gorgeous gowns but the first one she picked was the dress. I never thought i would ever be the kind of bride to cry or have "the moment" but Katie B made everything so perfect that i cried when i stepped back into the first dress to show my family with a veil. I went into Norman's looking for a prom dress. They have an ok selection, and I found a couple of beautiful dresses. Unfortunately, the first one was insanely expensive and cheaply made. The second one was perfect but a little snug. I called in the next day to find out the brand of the second dress so I could find somewhere to order it in my size, and they said they couldn't find it but they would call me back when they did. They didn't call within the next few days, so I called again. This time, the lady said she found the dress I was looking for, so I asked for the brand name and number. You know what she said? "We have a lot of brands, so I'm not exactly sure which one it is. You could probably just come in and take a picture of it." She couldn't look on the tag? These people are unhelpful and desperate to sell. Honestly this is probably one of the worst places to buy a prom dress. read more

This place is the worst small business I have ever encountered. I always try to go to small businesses first because I feel that they are the ones who have the best "personal" service...this is SO NOT the case with Norman's. Their customer service lacks in the highest; their employees are rude, if you're a bride who doesn't know exactly what you want-good luck. They don't help you look for ideas in store or show you different styles. They don't smile, they don't even look up from the floor...you would think they hate their job as much as I hated my experience. I had 4 problems with this store. (Outside what I just said about their sales team) 1. When I first went to the store, with my Mother and MIL, the sales woman had asked what we were here to look for "wedding dresses, bridesmaid, prom, etc." I didn't want to look at wedding dresses yet, I told her bridesmaid for now. While looking at those, it was obviously hard for my Mom and MIL to try not to look at the wedding dress side (which is literally next to bridesmaid dresses). My Mom asked the sales woman if she could pull some wedding dresses out while i was asking her another question about bridesmaid dresses...the woman told my MOTHER to "shut up, it's what the bride wants". I laughed at the time, but holy hell. Who SAYS that?? Especially in a shop where 80% of the time it's the brides parents who are going to be writing the check. NOT OKAY. 2. We ended up ordering 5 bridesmaid dresses and my wedding dress from Norman's in Springfield. We spent a hefty amount of money. When the bridesmaid dresses came in, one was torn. Did they tell us it was torn? NO. Did they offer to fix it? NO. Did they even apologize? NO. luckily, my alterations lady fixed the tear at no charge because I had 5 dresses, 2 flower girl dresses, and my wedding dress in her shop and she knew that Norman's wouldn't. 3. When my wedding dress came in, I picked it up just like the bridesmaid dresses and took it to my alterations lady. When I put it on I immediately noticed a black stain that looked like someone had stepped on the lace and scuffed it on the bottom front of my dress. Also, the shoulder had 2 inches or so of missing beading. This beading lined the edge of the dress and was VERY visible. I called Norman's as soon as I saw it, and told the manager about the situation. Very RUDELY she asked why I had not tried the dress on before I left the store. Unfortunately, I am no professional when it comes to buying wedding dresses (but seriously WHO IS?!) and so when NO ONE asked me to try it on, I didn't know to request to do so. 4. When I brought my dress back to have it stored and pressed, I brought the situation up again with the store manager. She was like a broken record. Over and over again all she would say to me was that since I had the alterations, the beading area was removed anyway and it was no longer an issue, the alterations also fixed the tear so it wasn't an issue. And that they would fix the stain so it wasn't an issue. Excuse me?? I feel like the whole experience was an issue!! What if I didn't need alterations? What if the lady wasn't so nice and I had to pay to have the tear fixed? She wasn't having any of it and she continually belittled my complaints like she had better things to do than ensure the reputation of the business she gets her pay checks from. I asked if I had been given used dresses. She says no, however...I'm 85% sure that my dress was the one I had tried on a few weeks before. A dress that they "no longer carry". I'm certainly not opposed to wearing an off rack dress, but not when I have to pay FULL price for it. I picked up my dress the day of the wedding and the stain was gone, but I am left with a sour taste in my mouth. My family paid full price for sub par service and product. Never again will I recommend this store. Save yourself the stress and just go somewhere else. read more

Truly the experience of a lifetime! I highly recommend every bride shops here first if she wants that complete bridal experience . I have been wedding dress shopping twice already in Los Angeles and San Diego at other bridal stores and I was not impressed...I was stressing out and lost hope of finding my dress. My reception is 3 months away and it's in Missouri...EEEK!!! My Mom set up an appointment for us with Norman's Bridal in Springfield while I am out here planning for our wedding. I was floored by how well the staff took such good care of us. Liz Stoner was absolutely amazing and the best bridal consultant I have come across. She made me feel like a princess. She listened to everything I wanted and completely respected my budget (which did not happen at the other bridal stores I went to out in CA). Liz was totally cool and very patient! And if there was a dress I did not like as much, she had no problem taking it away and was not offended at all! Even though the first dress she put me in was perfect and gorgeous, we found "the dress" by the second try and it fit me like a glove! Not to mention it costs half of what my budget was! All of this was done in under an hour and I was able to walk out with my dress in hand that very same day! It is everything I ever dreamt it could be from the experience to the dress. This place goes above and beyond even when you are not a customer! I was at the venue next door getting ready for my wedding and one of my bridesmaids had a major issue with her dress, the entire zip came off! We were 2 hours from the wedding. We did not purchase our dresses from Normans but two of my bridesmaids went over there in a panic to see if there was anything they could do. Two ladies came over and quickly sewed my bridesmaid in her dress in just enough time for photos. They were so amazing and saved the day! Thank you! read more

As you will see in other reviews when you go to Norman's you will almost always being paying more than your budget for your dress. Especially if your budget it under a $1000. I went in and told them my budget they asked me what I liked and pulled dresses for me. They didn't even let me look myself. They purposely put me in a dress that was $600 out of my budget and when they realized I loved it they tried to pressure me into buying it. I refused to buy it because they were trying to take advantage of me. My whole appointment lasted 20 minutes. In that twenty minutes I tried on two dresses over my $1000 budget. And when I asked to try on more they told me they didn't have have any more dresses in my budget in the style I wanted. And weren't willing to let me go out and look. Fast forward a few weeks later, I bought the exact same dress that Norman's tried to upsale me on, at a different bridal shop in town and it turns out that Norman's had that same dress marked up $700. Only shop here if your budget is more than $1000 and if you are willing to throw your budget out the window. They also cater towards the mom of the bride because they know they are buying the dress most likely. read more

I can't say enough about how wonderful they are at Normans. I was in a wedding that took place in the venue next door to Normans this past weekend. We were already behind schedule and supposed to be at the picture location when one of the girls zippers split. None of the dresses were even bought at Normans but they came right over and sewed her up on the spot for free!!! They literally saved the day!! I would highly recommend buying from here because I can guarantee they will take care of anything you need !!!!!! read more

I have never been so disappointed in a situation in my life! My daughter was maid of honor at her sister's wedding and we ordered her dress from Norman's. When it came in, it was at least 6 sizes too BIG!!! They checked the measurements we sent in and said that they had the correct measurement within an inch for the bust and hips but that the waist was off! A good company would have contacted the customer to check that or order from the other two measurements that made sense! Then instead of ordering in the correct size, they proceeded to try to alter this monstrosity of a dress down by at least 6 to 8 inches all over! They tried twice to make it look right. All of the other bridesmaids dresses fit so cute because they had the cute stays around the bodice that held the strapless gown up! Because of the alterations there were NO stays in my daughter's dress and she was pulling at it the entire wedding and it looked HORRIBLE in pictures! If you do decide to get your dresses from Norman's, be SURE to send your people in to be measured by them so that they can get it right! I, myself, will NEVER step foot in their store again!!! read more

After going through multiple bridal salons I found my dream dress here! Sparkles and lace and everything I wanted! I was nervous after reading the reviews but so glad I went. Katie was my assistant she was AWESOME!!!!!! I had tried many salons that didn't have a lot of size options, hard to try on dresses that you cant get over your waist; but they had multiple styles, listened to what I was looking for, and brought many options to try. I never felt pressured to buy, instead I felt like I could take me time, try on more options, and look at multiple options. I brought my mom and had it narrowed down between 2 dresses, they had no problem wish us coming back later in the afternoon with my dad for him to see if as well! The dress I tried on was in Champaign and I was wanting ivory, they grabbed the same designer in the ivory I was wanting to see what it would completely look like. Also they veil I loved they didn't have in cathedral length but had no problem going and checking and ordering it in the length I wanted! Everyone was so sweet, I felt beautiful, and so glad I looked for my dress here! I cannot wait until it comes in; it will be hard not to wear it every day until my wedding!!! I live an hour and a half away from Springfield, I called around 10:30 yesterday morning to make an appointment to try on some bridal gowns and start planning for my wedding. The girl who took my call was very kind and asked for all of my information, including the wedding date. She commended me on getting started now as it is "the perfect time frame to start". Knowing the cost and what looked good on me was important to me before I go ahead and say yes to anything, especially if I'm going to drive that far to visit a highly recommended shop like this. I was encouraged to come and have this appointment. However, when I arrived and after waiting a while after the appointment was scheduled to begin, an older woman greeted us and enthusiastically asked my friend if she was who the appointment was for. After learning it was my appointment her face fell and she started to ask for my information all over again, even though I was in the appointment book. Once we got to the wedding date question for the second time she said "If we start trying on dresses today it will just be a waste of your time." I was taken aback by this because I had asked the woman on the phone if I was "wasting my time" going up there and she had encouraged this appointment. My friend spoke up and said we had driven an hour just to be here and she finally said fine to letting me try things on. That portion of this interaction was very brief, as I was only allowed to try on two gowns and didn't even really get a say in what those were. After the second I went back to the fitting room and was told to get changed and she would meet me with some catalogs to look at "for the time being until a more appropriate date for an appointment." I got changed, met my friend by the pedestals and told her we were leaving. Received the catalogs and tried not to cry as I left. I don't know what to say other than shame on whoever helped me yesterday. A ten minute talk about why I shouldn't be here looking for dresses at this time and 15 minutes trying on two gowns is not what I wanted my day to be. We arrived at 1:30 and left at 2:05. It was a wasted trip and almost an entire day wasted over 35 minutes. read more

The dresses are beautiful! I bought my prom and wedding dress here. The associates are great. But, the management is terrible. They are rude and don't care about their customers. If you have a problem you might as well just give up on Norman's doing anything to make it better. I bought my dress for my October wedding at Norman's. I scheduled my first dress fitting on a Saturday morning. I didn't want to drive to Lebanon due to time, so I had my dress moved to Springfield. I live in Kansas City, so drove all the way down specifically for my appointment, which they scheduled for 9 am. When I arrived the store was locked and closed. I called the store no one answered, so I called the other location. They told me the Springfield location does not open until 10 and that the lady who does fittings usually doesn't get there until 11 am. If I had known I could have kept my dress at the Lebanon location and did my fitting there, but now my dress was locked in the Springfield location. I explained my situation and they just said, "Oh well". I had to get back to Kansas City, so I had my dad pick up my dress so I could get it fitted elsewhere. When he got there he asked what they were going to do to make the situation better since now I had to find someone else to alter my dress on top of paying for the gas to go to Springfield and back. Their response was that it was a "human error". Which they kept repeating as my dad tried to figure out a way to remedy the situation. This was the manager speaking, not an untrained associate. When I got my dress I checked that everything was in the bag and in one piece. I found a run in my lace on the bust area (I bought the dress new). My dress came with a flower, but I chose to buy a beaded belt instead. I guess in their minds that meant they could keep the flower (that I paid for) to sell in the store later. I called to have my flower returned. They acted like they didn't know what I was talking about, but finally agreed to send it to me. read more

It didn't come in until 3 days before my niece's wedding which was their fault, then proceeded to charge me rush fees on top of the alteration fees. Good customer service would have included all of that plus one fitting in the cost of the dress. I will not recommend them to anyone and was not happy. I won't ever return. read more

Absolute worst bridal store in existence, not just the Springfield area. I bought my wedding dress here about 2 years ago, and my experience was terrible. Nonetheless, my husband, daughter, and I recently stopped in to look at holiday dresses for Christmas pictures. There is a specific associate named LEXUS, beware of her and her attitude. When we visited the store, we walked into the back where the prom styles are, and we noticed all the girls who were working (about 5) just chatting and staring at us at the cash register. When we approached the girls, they were snotty and rude and sent Lexus to "help" us. We picked out a couple dresses and she acted like it was a hassle to help us when no one was in the store. I am extremely distraught at the lack of customer service here. This business is a joke and overpriced. Ladies, if you want to look stunning on your wedding day, save the headache and money and go down to Park Central Square to The Dress where you can buy a dress for a 1/10 of the price and you will actually deal with professionalism! And the store is more glamorous with chandeliers and detail. Like a bridal store should look. Stay blessed. read more
