From my trip, this was the only place where I experienced poor service. On a personal note, I guess I should not be surprised that it happened to be at a Nordstrom. After checking their site, I saw a pair of shoes in the sizes I wanted to try available here, so I made the effort to drive on over. I knew what department to head to after seeing a directory and once I approached the area, I saw a woman behind the counter talking to a younger guy (late teens, early 20's) about non-work related stuff (concert tickets). I wasn't aware if he worked there or not but it took me a moment to get her attention. Once I did, she kind of looked me over and went to check stock in the back. She brought out a couple pairs, different colors, in one size although I requested two different sizes. She practically argued with me, saying these would fit, they run large, etc. so I shut it and just tried them on since I really wanted the shoes. I will say she was right, and they fit perfectly (I was running around all day so I wanted to wait after I was active for an accurate fit). She somewhat relaxed and I decided to look at a couple other styles of shoes of the same brand. She then asked if she could ring me up and I let her know I was going to continue shopping and if she could hold them for me. This is where her attitude changed back to the negative. Right then, I decided I was definitely not buying them from her. Shame since other associates seemed to return from break at this time who I feel I would have been pleasant to shop with but at this point, it was too late. Thankfully I found the shoes at another company where the service was on-point, and even though they don't make commission there, I was glad to give another business a sale. Even in a place such as Texas, Nordstrom still manages to fail in customer service (regardless of the department). read more

Let me introduce you to Kenneth. Kenneth is the reason for this review. Not the only reason--but by far the most important one. I walked into Nordstrom a bit crooked, with my prosthetic leg and cane, looking for some summer clothes. What I found first? A group of older ladies behind the counter--dressed in cargo shorts and blank stares. Let's just say they weren't exactly falling over themselves to help a guy limping in on one leg. No smiles, no service--just an energy that said "retirement can't come soon enough." Enter Kenneth. Sharp. Friendly. Focused. He greeted me warmly and was about to help when one of the ladies asked him if he needed to be somewhere else. Without missing a beat, he replied--cool as anything-- "I am somewhere. I'm helping him." Instant respect. From there, it was all smooth sailing. Kenneth listened to what I was looking for and brought me a fantastic selection--high-quality materials, stylish options, and great fits. He handled everything with calm professionalism and true kindness. No rushing. No nonsense. Just Kenneth being excellent. I ended up with a pair of sleek gray shorts, a short-sleeve seersucker shirt, and a deep pink T-shirt that pops just right. After months of illness and hospitals, I finally look human again--elegant, even. Stylish. Confident. And yes, cool. Kenneth, thank you. You're the reason Nordstrom still shines. These five stars? They're for you. Nordstrom: you'd better give this man a raise. Oh--and one more thing: You know what they say... there's always an Asian who can do it better than you. I love going to this Nordstroms but I noticed recently the ladies clothing department is constantly changing things around. Everyone is always helpful while I am shopping. I have also used the customer pickup service and it's such a smooth process. You can self park in the garage for free or valet. The valet prices are rapidly increasing. I am literally shaking; the disgusting at the LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE i received from management today ! Chaz with the thick bifocal glasses is so rude and should not be in a management position cause he knows absolutely JACKSH!T. And any other manager there knows NOTHING ! They priced matched a $24 Barbie to $12 from Target for a friend then 30mins later I attempted to buy the same Barbie for the same price match ! They rudely told me they don't do that and repeatedly asked which salesperson did it earlier for my friend; the policy on their website doesn't say they DONT price match target. Instead just doing the same thing for us that they already did, they decided to enter into a circle jerk contest and read the policy over and over ! No apologies, no customer service, no smiles, no nothing ! Just completely pissed me off ! I will never return here ! read more

I've never been so disappointed by Nordstrom's customer service. It was almost impossible to find anyone to help, and when I finally did, the first associate spoke to me condescendingly and snapped, "I said I'll be right with you." I walked away because of her attitude, only to encounter another associate who glared at me and responded curtly, clearly annoyed that I interrupted her conversation with a coworker. What really shocked me was how their behavior changed the moment an older Caucasian woman asked for help, suddenly they were smiling, attentive, and eager to assist. The difference in treatment was undeniable and deeply upsetting. Nordstrom has long been known for exceptional service, but this experience was the complete opposite. I left feeling disrespected and discriminated against. I will be taking my business elsewhere. It's disappointing to see that respectful, attentive service seems reserved only for those who fit a certain look or social profile. read more

I have no idea what has happened to this Nordstroms. The quality and presentation and customer service have gone down hill. Today in particular I was upstairs shopping in cocktail dresses. No one asked to help me. I finally found a lady to put my things in a dressing room. Nothing is organized, some items don't have tags on them and they don't have garner bags to put the dress in after you buy it. I bought a $750 dress with no tag on it and a half A** bag wrapped around it, falling off the hangar, because there wasn't a garment bag. I agree with many of the negative reviews of this Nordstrom store location. No longer do you feel like you're walking into an upscale store. The store's presentation, staff, and customer service have declined. Unfortunately, with changing times come good and bad, and for this location it's bad. I found it hard to believe that the associates at this store were more interested in speaking with their peers than assisting a customer, ( I clearly showed that I was waiting for a rep to assist me with a purchase). When I asked them for help, they brushed me off and pointed in a direction. This is not the old Nordstrom. I implore management at Nordstrom to bring back the old ways. Whatever you do, do not buy any Chantecaille from Tonya who has a terrible attitude or try to lodge any complaint to the beauty manager, Justine. They do not care. I have decided to take my business elsewhere (i.e. Saks Global, Bloomingdale's, Bergdorf). Nordstrom Houston Galleria is no longer worth it. Employees rather gossip about coworkers and customers than make a sale. 15-20 years ago, this was the place to be. It was the epitome of excellence. Now, it's rubbish. The service is lacking in so many ways. Plus, the employees are lazy. I am loyal to good salespeople. Unfortunately, all of them left to Saks Global (Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus). Liverpool owns 49% of Nordstrom Inc. I love that store. Liverpool in Mexico City is amazing with SINCERE salespeople. Nordstrom Corporate needs to walk around Liverpool and take some notes! I would like to first say I've been a loyal Nordstrom customer from childhood. The only reason I have given 3 stars is because of the shoe department. All other departments in Nordstrom are wonderful! The clothing department is full of helpful, kind and not overly attentive sales associates. I tried on and purchased several items from them and had a wonderful interaction with a kind lady who gave me time to browse and try on while checking in to make sure I didn't need anything. I then went downstairs to the shoe department to look at shoes. I was followed around by the sales lady, constantly asked if I wanted to try on any shoes I glanced at. It left a bad taste in my mouth so I moved on to the make up department where I had a fabulous sales lady who let me browse and then helped me pick out just what I needed. From there I moved to the purse department and was again, greeted with a kind sales associate who asked if I needed anything and then allowed me to browse. I went back the next day to shop for shoes. I'd seen a specific pair online and wanted to try them on. I went in, and wandered for about 10 minutes before I was greeted by a sales lady. I showed her the shoes I was searching for and was laughed off, telling me that they don't have "those" shoes. Then she laughed as I walked away. The last few times I've been to the shoe department the sales people are either overly attentive, rude or not attentive enough. read more

I have been shopping at this store for nearly a decade, and it is generally a pleasant experience. In recent years, however, the quality of the experience has declined noticeably. I have started to avoid it. I do appreciate that they have started to carry many more ethically-minded brands. Please keep that up! For the most part, I can count on the staff at the Galleria Nordstrom being courteous, helpful and not pushy. The return policy was always flexible, though I did not use it often. They carry a great selection of clothing, shoes and beauty items. Recently, however, the selection has clearly been aimed at trends at the expense of stocking classic items alongside them. I can no longer stop in and count on certain items being there. This would not be a huge deal if their online inventory were accurate. I recently came in after ensuring that a specific item was in stock. It was not. Then I was subjected to an annoyingly hard sell for other items by not one but two employees in beauty and fragrance. I politely declined and opted to browse instead. One of the employees came up behind me to push an unsolicited fragrance sample in my face. It was alarming, disrespectful and the first time ever someone at this Nordstrom has been even remotely discourteous. I had to politely decline and leave to another area to escape the pressure sales tactics. On my way to look at jewelry, I believe I came to understand why things had changed. A manager(?) was giving an aggressive 'pep talk' to some members of staff nearby telling them to basically step things up in selling in a more serious way. There was nothing motivating in what I overheard. The tone felt like 'Sell or else!' Wow, the amazing employees who had previously wrapped gifts for us and given thoughtful advice that motivated me to return for years were being treated this way? I cannot support a business moving in this direction. I realize that revenue and trends are important but service is everything. Please do not ruin a good thing for short-term monetary gains. Some folks want to support a business over the longer term but will not do it if the quality is not there. read more

Stefan understands his craft better than anyone I've bought from. I explained in abstract terms what kind of perfume I was looking for. He narrowed it down surprisingly quickly and showed me a perfume I would never have sought out that was perfect. I mean perfect quite literally. I worked in retail for ages so I know how to spot a pro, and he is it. If you want a proper, efficient, and pleasant customer service experience, ask for him. read more

Was in town for the Houston Rockets game. I called the Mac Counter that day on 11/10/2021 to make an appointment for later on in the afternoon. Eboni "Sloan" answered and was available to do my face that evening. When I arrived she was so nice, it was refreshing. Eboni had selected some items for me to do my face but also that I may like . Which I absolutely loved. I informed her when I called earlier that soft glam was the look I was going for. She was amazing . Polite, and she talked . Some people won't talk but she talked and made me feel welcomed. I loved the items that was selected and purchased them. Thank you Eboni "Sloan". I've been to Nordstrom several times with my sister. I do enjoy coming to this store simply because they carry luxury items as well as reasonable priced items. They have even started carrying very nice extended sizes. They have everything from purses and shoes to perfume as well as evening wear, pajamas, lingerie, exercise clothing and swim suits. It's quite a pleasant experience to come to Nordstrom but be careful to not get too carried away as you can rack up quite a receipt. read more

There aren't many Nordstrom here in Houston and the galleria carries the better options but the service is lacking in all areas. I've had issue with the last 3 in store pickups. You can barely find anyone to help you in the store and if you want attitude try asking someone that works there to do their job... I've been parking in the Nordstrom garage the last few times I've been to the galleria. It could get a little hectic at times especially during the holidays but it is what it is. I like browsing the top shop, shoes, and athletic wear when I come here. Each time I've made returns at this location it has been fairly easy and no trouble at all. Any time I'm holding one or two items a worker will come and ask if I need a dressing room which is nice. I do wish they carried other name brands or more options but that's why we order online. If you are ever looking for gift ideas I feel like you can satisfy any time of person or age here. If all fails they got gift cards! read more

I am looking for a particular make up product. I called Sak's and Neiman's, but was never able to talk to a human being to confirm that they had the item in stock. I called Nordstrom last because I knew that they had stopped carrying this brand during Covid several years ago. But, I thought I'd give it a shot. Turns out that they do carry it again. I was able to get to a store operator immediately who then transferred me to a beauty concierge. She was able to go to that particular beauty line and confirm that they had the item in stock. Nordstrom was the only store that transferred me to a beauty concierge rather than transferring me to some representative for that specific Brand of cosmetic. The problem is that the employees working the floor can't always (or don't want to) answer the phone. Therefore, a beauty concierge is an ideal solution for for getting callers the information they need. Kudos to Nordstrom for realizing this and providing the customer service that their competitors did not. This is one of the reasons I love shopping at Nordstrom. read more

(I think Nordstrom rack is actually much better than the store for selection and of course prices) Came here looking for shoes, specifically special event shoes and wow what a disappointment. Nothing fancy unless you like one type of Jimmy Choo in different heel sizes. Finding a comfortable pair of special event shoes must be totally out of the question now days. Who knew shopping on a Saturday could be so pleasurable. I bought lingerie on line, and had no idea of real size I needed. I had to return what I bought to the store and reselect. I had no idea there would be such excellent help. Not only Adaeza who personally helped me through the whole shopping experience, but the others in the department too. I was offered a fitting, and given items to try that were "perfect". When one of the items could not be found on the floor, my salesperson went to three different stock rooms to find it, all while being professional and just plain nice. In the area on business and shopping for one of our events. The employees in the women's department are very unprofessional and rude. My husband needed to use the rest room and he asked a lady politely if she worked there. Her back was turned towards us because she was waking in the opposite direction. She turns and points to what appears to be a tag as if we were supposed to see it and automatically assume she did. So he asks her where the restrooms are and she basically waved her hand in an over there motion and keeps walking. Same with another employee as again we are not from the area and didn't know the logistics of the mall. We just wanted to find the rest room. After we did we left immediately. We do not patronize places that do not appreciate us as customers. Out of all the stores we shopped in this one and one other had some of the nastiest customer service around. read more

Now, it takes days AND they'll randomly cancel items with no kind of option or warning. Nordstrom has a great selection of women's clothing (sizes over 14). It's located on the top floor. The ladies in that dept can be a bit like vultures trying to get their commissioned sale, but they know how to back off. I love their Eileen Fisher collection of clothing. I headed their today looking for some new clothes for the start of the new school year. I was able to browse both the reduced items and new items. I found one tank for $10 (way below typical Nordstrom prices) and a shirt for about $40. The dressing rooms are nice, there is always somewhere for the husband to sit while I am trying stuff on, and the overall store is clean and brightly lit. I also like their cafe. Their show department is actually really awesome! The shoes come is so many different styles and sizes! Their return policy is more than fair! Also, the handbag department is great. There are so many different styles to choose from. I purchased my Cole Haan purse here and it's great. Parking can be a road rage incident waiting to happen. Do not try and park on the first floor unless it's super quiet there. I always drive up to the 4th floor of parking which let's you walk directly into the 3rd floor of Nordstrom. It's just easier and less stressful. I can tell you they take their shoplifting seriously. I was there years ago and was walking into the first floor entrance (through the garage) as two plain clothes security officers (one male and one female) tackle a man to the ground as he attempted to steal something. He admitted it right there and begged to be let go. I avoided getting to close (in case of a full on fight) and went inside. It was my excitement for the day. The employees are always so sweet and willing to do what it takes to build a customer relationship and make every shopping experience enjoyable. My first impression was positive, I spoke with a couple of sales ladies that were extremely helpful, and recommended looking at shoes first before picking the dress. Well as I got off the escalator to the level where shoes are located, this man/woman janitor approached me and asked "are you going to buy something or what? We all have been watching you and you, what do you plan to do, just move around the store all day"? Now mind you it was around 11:00 am on a week day with little to zero customers in there.... but omg I have never been treated so rudely in my life! Karen in the dress department is a life saver! It's a Thursday night and I frantically drop in looking for a gown for a formal event. She noticed my desperation and helped me pull a dozen gowns. And I walked away with THREE. Not only that - she kindly coaxed the tailor to hem one of my gowns that same day for a 9pm pickup. HUGE hugsies to Karen and Lon (I can't fully remember the bridal tailor's name) for saving my sanity. Lesson learned to no longer procrastinate. :/ read more

**Spa Post** I was staying in the Galleria area and a friend wanted a facial and I wanted a mani. We decided The Nordstrom Spa was the perfect fit. While the hot shoulder wrap was a nice touch don't waste your $ on a gel mani. 4 days later- 4 of my nails have already started to chip. For $55 I would expect it to at least last a week. My cheap nail salons last 2-3 and are almost half the price. If I had a Nordstrom Spa at local store- I would definitely go and get them fixed but that's not an option. On a positive note-my friend thought her facial was awesome and the relaxation lounge is great. read more

I have shopped at Nordstrom in the Houston Galleria for years, but after yesterday I am rethinking Nordstrom. I was there for an hour trying on clothing and it was so hot and uncomfortable in the dressing room that the salesperson had to go get water for me. There are many other stores in the Galleria where I can shop comfortably. And, while I am on a roll, the dress of most employees now makes it difficult to know who works there and who is just shopping. I guess this is the new Nordstrom and if I am going to pay the prices for their clothing, I will move on to other establishments with more professional staff AND temperature-controlled dressing rooms.
