Update: Stayed at Hyatt Place Itasca with my wife for three…read morenights in early March '26. Booked directly through the Hyatt site, using a prepay non-refundable rate, costing about $100 per night. Some additional things of note from previous stay: + large room with double beds, and a sleeper sofa. + the hotel wasn't full, so rooms were available for early check-in. However, it was clearly marked that early check-in might cost an additional charge, depending on your World of Hyatt Tier. A non member would be charged $50 extra for 09:00 to 13:00 check-in, all the way to no charge if Globalist. I'm noticing this at Hyatt's now. + got a chance to use their breakfast on two of the mornings. It had the two hot dishes (an egg dish and a meat dish), along with assortment of continental breakfast items. One thing I really liked was the make-your-own-waffle machines (two of them). The premixed matter is quite good, and the machine is setup so the waffle are not too dense. + they rolled out a service to make the TV in the room be Google Cast eligible. Any app on your mobile device that has 'cast' enabled, can now send it to the TV. Netflix, Disney, and HBO-Go all worked well. The list of TV channels was good as well, with plenty of basic cable channels. It was also good to hear the local news, though we didn't recognize any familiar faces on the broadcasts. It's been a long time since we lived here. + daily housekeeping is available, but if you don't need it, it can be lowered to a basic refresh on every other day. + I made a mistake and left my backpack in the parking lot while we were leaving. The early morning attendant on duty, did some due diligence to figure out who it belonged to, and then gave me a call on my cell before we had gotten too far. This could have turned into a disaster for me, but everyone involved was very helpful and not judgy. It was really appreciated.

Although there are…read morea couple of restaurants across from the hotel, there isn't much else that could be considered walking distance. Although it's not centrally located, it is a short drive to the highway entrance and less than 15 min from the mall in Schaumburg. Otherwise, your view will be of the highway. There are paved walking trails around the lakes, so you can get your miles in and stretch your legs. The rooms have refrigerators, but there are no microwaves. They have a few microwaves available upon request, so ask for one when you check in if you are going to need one. This is a great wedding venue, particularly for Indian weddings, but they also host Western/American weddings. They have both indoor and outdoor spaces, so there are options depending on the weather. Be warned that the hotel is designed around an atrium, so if there is a late night wedding reception, you might hear it in your room. The bar can get CRAZY packed late at night after a wedding reception too. On each of our visits, two weddings were happening at the same time, but they managed it well. Overall, it was a great stay - just make sure you are prepared for some noise if you are staying over a weekend.

When my AC broke earlier this week, I decided to spend a few nights in a hotel while it got serviced. With the Westin being the closest hotel, I chose it for a little "stay-cation". I checked in later in the day (10pm) and got to my room, which was not really cold. I turned down the thermostat and turned up for the fan speed and nothing got colder. I called the front desk, and they said they would send the maintenance person up. About 10 minutes later, the HVAC man came to my room. He took the unit apart and took out an extremely dirty filter and replaced it with a new one. He told me that was likely the issue, and mentioned that my compressor was cold and working well. But also mentioned that there is only one speed on the AC units in the hotel (low) and the three speeds on the thermostat don't do anything. He left and the AC unit never got any colder. The thermostat said 60°, but I don't believe it ever got below 70°-72°. I called to get my room changed and I was told they were all booked. I stayed for two nights and it was fine. Not really fancy, pretty outdated, and just like many other cheaper hotels in the area. The AC never got colder, if you're someone like me who loves the cold AC of a hotel, this Westin is not for you.

The biggest issue was the bathroom. The toilet clogged or struggled every single time it was flushed. The TV also had a distorted, blurry picture that constantly buffered. It's a very outdated TV. Broken remote, and there are limited channels. No option to use any streaming apps. While the air conditioner cooled the room well, it had bright red and blue flashing lights that blinked throughout the night. I reached out after receiving a text from the hotel asking how everything was. The staff member responded promptly, apologized, and said they would have the issues resolved by the end of the day, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, when I returned to my room that evening, the only change that had been made was that a lamp had been added to the empty nightstand. The room had not been cleaned, the sheets with the hairs had not been changed, the toilet still had the same flushing problem, and the other maintenance issues remained. While I appreciate the courteous response from the staff, I was disappointed that so little was actually addressed after reporting multiple cleanliness and maintenance concerns. I expected much better follow-through, especially since I was staying a second night.

Front desk called manager who was initially minimally responsive. Was told unable to check anyone in but they refused to refund or give vouchers etc. Undetermined wait time. Wouldn't even provide an estimated time- just told to wait indefinitely until they could figure something out. As even more people came in, they finally told us to give our names and cell numbers and told us to wait in vehicles and assured us they will call everyone in sequence once manager arrives, computer is fixed and they can work through the list. Yes- it was that bad. While in my car, I called Marriott customer service line- waiting 25 mins to talk to a live agent- who apologized but said they couldn't refund and refused to give voucher. Said I would have to call booking.com (where I made the reservation) and that they may or may not be able to resolve the dispute. Marriott absolutely refused to take responsibility for the horrible experience!! Said we could either continue to wait in our cars (by this time it was after 10 pm) or lose our money and go somewhere else. To top it off, once they had the computers going they failed to call anyone. They said they figured people would just come in and check on their own. They didn't follow their own makeshift method for working through the problem, causing even more delays. Finally got a room close to midnight. Front desk was testy, inpatient, rude. Additionally, they were fully booked and very inadequate parking space in their lot. Many people makeshift parking etc. Horrible experience. Don't stay here.

The second room (4 rooms down the hall from the first room) I had just woke up and was laying in the bed when I thought I'd seen something move out the corner of my eye. Let the office know and showed them a picture I took of the cockroach.....they were going to put me in another room on other side of hotel.....that does not eliminate a bug/cockroach problem. I called Priceline and told them what was going on and got a refund for that week. I left and ended up renting a room at the holiday inn express got cheaper and nicer room.

I'm a seasoned traveler, and I don't go anywhere without handy wipes, and I use them in every hotel room and airplane area ever. Before I even take off my coat. So I was ready with my handy wipes. Its just that they don't usually get so visibly dirty. Here they did, on the phone and windowsill. After that I wiped down every surface in the room, usually I just do the phone, remote, restroom area and light switches. Today I took my time and was pretty thorough. But it was a huge room. These are the hotels with a sort of kitchen in them. Pretty nice actually if you plan to stay a while. The fridge is a large one, which is a terrific amenity if you use it. They even provide a cookbook of sorts, which is a very nice touch. But then I found more issues. Lights not plugged in. Cup appeared dirty in cabinet. The extra lock on the door was missing one half of it. Safty anyone? And then my room was moved. To be clear, the man at the desk both when I checked in and when I called down sometime later (more on that below) may be the nicest guy ever, so this is not related to him in any way, unless, I suppose he's the owner of the Extended Stay America Brand, which, presumably, he's not, since he works here. I had been in the room for quite some time, and had actually unpacked and repacked my various bags, since there was so much room in the room to get organized in. I did not think I'd be moving. And then the smoke came in. Not just cigarette smoke. And it was thick. Really think. I did not want to smell like smoke and did not want my luggage to either. So I called down and asked what could be done, and he more or less felt that I would need to move off the floor as the whole floor smelled and it was coming from the vents. So I got "upgraded" he told me as he was helping me move. Totally different floor and wing of the hotel. Bigger bed and a nice reclining chair in the room. Otherwise, its the same idea and layout, just more space. Which is great, and I would totally stay in one of the these hotels for longer than one night. Id make sure it was a non smoking facility though. This room was cleaner, to be transparent. Much actually. And the lock was not broken. And there were no utensils missing in the kitchen cabinets (which I realized was the case in the other room once I saw the second one). Smoking allowed here. Illinois really needs to get with it and make hotels, bars and restaurants etc non smoking. Its so unhealthy for everyone, but us non smokers are forced to be subjected to the smokers decision to be unhealthy. Not really fair, is it? Good beds. Good parking. Easy check-in. Many restaurants in the area, skip the Wendys in front of the hotel and drive a block or two (long blocks, you need to drive) to a large choice of places. Im giving 2 stars because the desk clerk was so nice and pleasant.
