It spread across the ceiling and added warmth to their hospitality. I wouldn't hesitate to board here once more.

I want to start by saying that the hotel itself and the staff were absolutely amazing. Every staff…read moremember we encountered was kind, sincere, helpful, and genuinely seemed to care about the guests. The customer service was excellent. The hotel was also very clean, organized, and well maintained, especially considering how busy the property is. Unfortunately, our concern was not with the hotel or its employees, it was with the number of people who appeared to be accessing and lingering around the property without actually being hotel guests. Three women in our group were originally supposed to stay here for two weeks. After one week, we made the decision to move to another hotel because the activity outside and around the property became increasingly uncomfortable and concerning. Throughout the week, at all hours of the day and night, we repeatedly observed groups of people lingering in the parking lot, often around pickup trucks and other vehicles. Some appeared to sleep in their vehicles, approach guests for money, walk around the property for extended periods, and use areas intended for hotel guests, including the pool and outdoor seating areas. There were adults as well as children present. At times, people who did not appear to be staying at the hotel were also ordering from the restaurant and using the hotel facilities. I became concerned enough that I repeatedly checked my account to make sure nothing had been charged to our room without our knowledge. What made the situation more unsettling was how closely some individuals appeared to watch guests entering and leaving the hotel. On one occasion, someone approached us asking whether the restaurant was open, despite our having seen the same individuals around the property for several days. At other times, vehicles would drive slowly past us while we were sitting outside or reposition themselves near areas where guests were coming and going. At one point, we counted approximately five vehicles associated with people who appeared to be lingering around the property. One evening, the situation apparently became concerning enough that hotel staff were walking through the parking lot looking for individuals who were not registered guests, and security became involved. I also had an interaction/observation involving a member of the contracted security team that raised serious concerns for me about whether unauthorized individuals may have been receiving assistance or information. I cannot independently verify what relationship, if any, existed, so I do not want to make an accusation as fact. However, what I personally observed was concerning enough that I believe hotel management should investigate the security contractor and review camera footage and access activity. I want to emphasize again that the Holiday Inn staff were wonderful. This review is not intended as criticism of the employees who treated us extremely well. The hotel has so much going for it, and the outdoor and pool areas could be a great place to relax. However, guests should be able to enjoy those areas and walk to and from their vehicles without feeling watched, approached, or uncomfortable. We ultimately gave up the second week of our stay and moved to another hotel because we no longer felt comfortable with the activity surrounding the property. My recommendation to management would be to strengthen parking lot monitoring, verify that people using the pool and other guest areas are actually registered guests, and closely review the performance of the contracted security company. For future guests, be aware of your surroundings, protect your room information, check your hotel charges, and report suspicious activity directly to hotel management. It is unfortunate because the hotel and its employees deserve a great review. The staff truly were amazing. With stronger control over unauthorized access to the property, this could have been an excellent two-week stay instead of one we felt we needed to end early.

It was a good choice! Parking right in front was easy, check-in was a breeze, and the room was large and quite clean. It even smelled clean! They have a decent pool with a small hot tub, and the usual standard amenities. Loved that in addition to a coffeemaker, we had a microwave and fridge! The complimentary Wifi worked great. Our bed was super comfortable, except that the mattress on the sofa bed our daughter slept on was quite thin, making the bed not too comfortable. We were worried that she wouldn't do her best the next day in the competition due to this. Next time I think I will have to sacrifice my love of a king size bed in favor of two queens. (Ugh!) I am subtracting one star because of the mattress, and because while they offer free breakfast, the next morning when we were leaving, the breakfast was supposed to be available starting at 6 am but when we arrived at 6:05, we found the lights still out and NOTHING set up. The guy at the front desk said that the guy who was supposed to be there hadn't even arrived yet. There were a few other unhappy people besides us. We had to leave, so we didn't get to take advantage of the breakfast. Thankfully there's a Panera and a Starbucks right in front of this place. But still.,. All in all it was a nice, quick stay, reasonably priced, and we would do it again.

We went to see if there was an area where we could host a party for family that was coming to stay at the hotel for the wedding. The person that we talked to was bright and cheery. She showed us the meeting room and areas where we could meet. She provided us information and answered all of the questions that we had. The meeting room and common areas that we were shown were very nice, kept clean and were well-maintained. The prices were in line with meeting spaces at other hotels I've been at. I highly recommend Sonesta Select Chicago Elgin West Dundee!

There were two staff members working and while it wasn't clear what the issue was - computer lag, lack of urgency, etc. - the process was weirdly slow. There were several weddings staying at this property on the same night and people were getting antsy in line because they needed to get to venues. It appeared there was a shuttle running to the venue; we chose to drive ourselves and avoid some of that hassle. The room itself was fine. It's not updated but it was comfortable enough for our one-night stay. Every outlet in our room was loose except for those right next to the sink, meaning nothing we plugged in worked. Again, not a huge deal for one night but I'm glad we didn't need anything charged beyond our phones. The hotel was also a little loud, probably in part due to the multiple wedding blocks. We could hear the people above us well into the night. I left a dress behind in the closet and went back to get it a few days later. Staff were helpful in that process, including the woman who answered the phone when I called to verify the dress was there.

Before addressing the areas that need improvement, I want to recognize the property's greatest asset: its staff. Cherry at the front desk is consistently cheerful and welcoming. She is always quick to address any needs and, unlike at many Marriott properties, she consistently acknowledges and appreciates our loyalty and status. She is among the very best front desk associates I have encountered. Marilu in the M Club is another exceptional employee. She works long hours, always has a smile on her face, and goes out of her way to ensure guests are taken care of. I cannot recall another M Club associate at any Marriott property who works as hard as she does. As a result, the food and beverages are always replenished promptly, and the lounge remains spotless. Last, but certainly not least, is Rosario from housekeeping. She seems to be constantly working, yet always takes the time to ask if everything is satisfactory or if we need anything, all with a genuine smile. Her dedication and professionalism are truly appreciated. Unfortunately, beyond the exceptional staff, the Chicago Marriott Northwest has continued to decline with each visit. Although the renovation gives the property a positive first impression, I encountered numerous maintenance and operational issues during my stay that fell well below Marriott standards. In my room, one of the windows leaked during a rainstorm, and the shower door would not close completely, requiring me to wedge a towel against it to prevent water from escaping. The ice machine on the sixth floor was out of service for my entire stay, and it appeared that only one elevator was operating most of the time. The M Club also had several shortcomings. The coffee machine was out of order throughout my stay, and although the lounge is advertised as being open 24 hours a day, there were no snacks or beverages available outside of the hours when Marilu was working. Finally, charging $15 per day for parking in what is essentially an open parking lot is difficult to justify. I have paid the same amount to park in secure Marriott garages located in downtown areas. Unfortunately, these recurring issues create the impression that management is more focused on generating additional revenue than on maintaining the level of quality and guest experience that Marriott guests have come to expect. I sincerely hope management recognizes the value of employees like Cherry, Marilu, and Rosario and does everything possible to retain them. They are the reason guests continue to return despite the property's shortcomings. As a Lifetime Titanium member, I will most likely look elsewhere for future stays.

It had a full refrigerator, stove top burners, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, individual coffee pot, and all the main items you would need for a kitchen. It also had a laundry basket, a large closet, iron and iron board. The bathroom had toiletries needed so I didn't need to use any of mine. We took coffee to go on an early road trip and that make the stay even better. Would love to go back and maybe stay a little bit longer. Only wish would be a bigger TV! Given I normally am a Hilton Diamond loyalist, it felt like cheating on a spouse! It was exciting. This location is right off Route 59. There is the Marriott and all the local shops and restaurants, as well as "The Arboretum". The location can't be beat, with plenty of places to eat, shop, and grab a drink. Additionally, there is a flagship size Cabela's store and a moderate-large sized arena where concerts and events are hosted. The hotel is clean and welcoming upon arrival. The front desk was smooth and efficient and happily accommodated our request for a high floor. We checked in very late at night, so it was nice to have access to a small snack/convenience "store" on site. They had a solid selection of beverages, snacks, candy, chips, frozen meals, medications, and toiletries. The items are all reasonably priced, it's nice they don't take advantage in this area like many hotels tend to do. Our room was clean, fresh, modern, and inviting. We booked the standard double-queen room. The beds were plush and the linens were fresh and crisp. No visible stains or stray hairs to be found. The room offers a nice sized, wall mounted TV which can be easily viewed from both beds. There is an area for luggage, a wardrobe, a small dresser under the TV, and a work area with a desk chair. Everything in the room was clean and functional. We especially liked the LED lighting that runs along the top of the TV "wall" and along the top of both beds. Additionally, there were plenty of outlets built into the furniture and all of them worked without issue. If you travel with multiple devices like I do, you'll appreciate this! Our beds were incredibly comfortable. Pillows were plush and provided a perfect night's sleep. The cleaning crew is thorough and takes pride in the upkeep of this location. They do offer complimentary parking on site. There are several handicap accessible spots and an elevator on-site. Additionally, they do offer complimentary hot breakfast. They offer omelets, scrambled eggs, proteins, yogurt, cereal, etc. I can personally attest the breakfast IS worth waking up for! Given I am close by when I am in IL, I will not hesitate to stop in here during my next cross-country road trip! The location is modern, clean, comfy, and cozy. Staff and management are friendly and efficient. They truly accommodate the guest. I'd highly recommend this property to friends and family. It's a great property that is clean and well maintained. The room I was in was nice and spacious, and I appreciated the desk so that I could get some work done. WiFi was pretty mediocre though, offering about 8mbps up and down. I was initially excited to see an RI45 Network port on the wall, but I quickly discovered that it wasn't connected. However their was an active line run to the TV, so as long as I was fine without internet features there I was able to connect that cable to my laptop and get 80mbps speeds which was a nice step up. Overall the staff were very friendly, the hotel was kept nice and clean, and the amenities felt modern. I would definitely recommend this location. It felt like a good value for the price!

After a couple nights rooms opened up at nearby hotels and I relocated as fast as I possibly could. Also, the computer system was broken so they took my card in a back room to run it - now I'm going to get a new card because lord knows what they did with my number. Don't stay here - ever!
