    Someone's blood on the shower

IF I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS I WOULD. My stay here was absolutely HORRENDOUS, there was someone else blood on my shower, dead bugs all on top of the air conditioner and when I complained to Ifran the GM he got mad and tried to shut me up because I was using friends and family discount, he told me I'm not allowed to complain and to pretty much deal with it. I showed him pictures and everything. He was very rude and dismissive to me. When I told him I was going to complain and show the pictures he had me removed off friends and family discount and I don't care. I have every right to complain when someone else blood is on the shower in the room I'm staying in and still paying for, the dead bugs were horrible, I couldn't tell if they were ants or gnats. The towels were dingy and had stains on them. The elevator didn't work and he never bothered to tell us this. The ice machine only works on the first floor. Under the sink in the bathroom was moldy. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROPERTY. Before I was able to use this discount I always stayed at the Marriott and never had problems, I will go back to staying at the Marriott. And btw I have all the pictures. this man really tried to scare me into not making a complaint.

We have stayed here at the Hampton Inn & Suites Hoffman Estates a few times before and have always enjoyed our stay. It is an especially good location when we are on our way to visit relatives in western Wisconsin because it is far enough out on Chicago's northwest side that it makes for an easy departure in the morning. This is probably why they often have the best pricing in this area. When we arrived we got the usual friendly greeting we have come to expect from Hampton Inns. They offer digital key that uses your smart phone as your room key. I forgot to do on line check in in advance so I just did a normal check in at the front desk instead. This one is tucked away in a business and hotels complex but any GPS should get you to it directly. The room itself is clean, functional, and comfortable with the usual amenities we expect such as a desk, microwave, coffee maker, mini refrigerator, flat screen TV, free WiFi, etc and also includes complimentary breakfast starting at 6am. The breakfast offers fresh fruit, cold cereal, oatmeal, baked goods, juices, coffee & tea, waffles, and an assortment of hot dishes to chose from; here today they have mini omelettes and sausage patties, one of my favorites. I also made a deluxe waffle including syrup, whipped cream, mini chocolate chips, and raspberry sauce...so good I forgot to add butter!

I really expected other attention from the staff, better conditions of the property furniture and mattresses. Especially to be a hotel of such a renowned name. The Horrible and old mattresses (the beds are double, so they are small, they should be Queen size at least) makes me spend the worst nights in a hotel. The kitchen had ants, the carpet and furniture looks dirty and old. in addition the pool water was extremely cold and the jacuzzi was not available to use because it was under repairs the days we stayed at this hotel. I definitely I think that for the money I paid I could get a better hotel.

I like this Hampton, perhaps because it is always where I stay when I come to Hoffman Estates and I am a creature of habit but I do believe it is mostly because of the friendly staff and consistency in comfort. It is a nice property, located in a business park area. Lots of services/restaurants (hello Starbucks) within a mile. The rooms are always clean and comfortable... I love their pillows. The staff -- over the last few years that I have stayed here, the staff is unwavering in their service and friendliness. All the staff. The free breakfast is solid... I am a Hampton Waffle junkie so I am pretty easy to please... but their oatmeal is pretty darn good too. It is a Hampton, not the Ritz... but it is a four star Hampton for sure.

    Ruined wedding ring

My husband and I live in Wisconsin, about 3-3.5 hours from here, we stay at this hotel every time we make the trip out here. Unfortunately, this time we were here for a funeral. We frequent this hotel because of the hot tub& the fact that it is clean (for the most part). The time before this, when we stayed here, the hot tub ruined my wedding ring and completely ruined my bathing suit! (Pictures below). Now, this time we stayed, the hot tub is no longer an amenity, which we were not aware of until we had already arrived, checked in, and made our way to the the pool! We went to the front desk, and mind you, we paid $180 total for our 2 days staying here! When explaining to them why we were upset, they then told us that it is posted on their websites. When googling and researching, that is not true. They seemed to be suprised. Sorry not sorry. Not only this, but our rooms bathtub was filled with MOLD. yes, mold. Again, pictures below. This is the last and final time we will be staying here after frequenting this establishment so many times before. It was fun while it lasted Hampton!

Another area only beautiful trash....and the front desk can see this from Theo station.

The one is because the people are nice. But dang...this is the trashiest Hampton I have been to. See pics.....these pics are AFTER we shared with them every single day the trash cans are full. They will not empty them on a regular basis. The ash tray was disgusting and full and they WOULDN'T empty it. No joke! We took pictures of it every day. We told them at the front desk....every day.....multiple times. We have been here since Thursday and am amazed they can charge the rates they are for this filth! Don't stay here unless this Makes you feel at home. The air conditioning was also out for three days in 90 degree weather.

We were told that the shuttle driver had to come in on his day off, so we did tip him well ($20). On the ride to the airport, he told us that there was a cabal of undocumented people living at the airport. We had our doubts, but we said nothing, as we just wanted to get to the airport and make our flight. We had the same driver when we returned home--and he asked us if we saw said undocumented people. We said, no, there was no such thing at the airport. He said something like "Aha--they are hiding behind a black curtain." This was a lot of crazy--and xenophobia for a ride that we were paying for. And sadly, this should have clued us in to the rest of the experience. We stayed at the hotel at the end of our trip. While the lobby looked clean and well appointed, the rest of the hotel was not. The hallways were dirty with trash, one could obtain a contact high is you breathed deeply enough, and the toilet was malfunctioning. If I could give it negative stars, I would. As a third generation American, the xenophobia alone was enough, but the god-awful condition of the property surprises me that it is still in business. Do yourself a favor--stay about anywhere else.

The property appears to serve more as a residence for certain families rather than a legitimate hotel. The breakfast was mediocre, consisting of reheated food of questionable freshness, and the dining area was dark and dreary. Several long-term "residents" loaded up on food and carried full plates back to their rooms. The elevator felt unsafe and on the verge of breaking, so we opted to take the stairs. The entire hotel was filthy and poorly maintained -- common areas remained uncleaned throughout our stay. We didn't use any of the in-room amenities because everything felt dirty. Do yourself a favor and check the photos before booking -- there are far better options available nearby.

Their M Club was still under renovation and they issued cards to dine in a buffet area next to the Bar Louie that's in the lobby. The breakfast, which I took part in the next morning was terrible. I got there about 20 mins after they opened and they were rather busy, but the food was cold and stale. The potatoes were terrible, cold, rubbery, and far from fresh. The scrambled eggs were cold and there were hardly any left. The bacon was the only thing worth eating. Should be noted that all this food was sitting in heated warmers, but those must just be for looks, because they weren't keeping the food warm! The room I got was very nice, it was at the end of the hall on the sixth floor, overlooking the huge Panasonic building nearby. The room was very spacious and nicely setup, with everything in decent working order, except the toilet seat, which was too small for the bowl. When sitting on the seat, you were actually sitting partially on the bowl because the seat was too small. It's these little "attention to detail" things that really make or break a property. Since I stay in Marriotts so frequently I'm sooo sick and tired of the smell of their bathroom soaps and gels. Not sure why they don't rotate these by region, property, etc. They could very easily make it so when I visit different properties in different cities, I experience a different "smell" of soap and bath gel. I know this seems petty, but when these smells are thins pungent, it really does matter. The lobby was beautifully decorated with a player piano playing in it, which was a really nice touch. It's obvious the entire property's common areas were recently refurbished, which makes the property look and feel very nice and slightly more upscale than the typical Marriott. Just a word of warning that the parking lot seems to connect a road to a plaza with people cutting through it. I went to pull out of a parking space once and a car almost hit me driving about 30 MPH thru the lot, just cutting through. Overall, it was a decent stay and I'd stay here again.

I love the fact that they replaced the carpets with hard wood floor, never been a fan on the carpets at the hotels. The room was very spacious, bed was comfortable, and the room was clean. The water pressure in the shower could be improved, but it wasn't bad. The front desk staff were friendly and had easy check-in. The fitness center was bit small, but had more equipment in the room than other hotels like Fairfield Inn.... but because it was small, it felt closed in. No microwave in the room, has anyone notice that the hotels are removing them now? Is this the new trend?

The room was okay, I like that there was a whole kitchen area and living room separated from the bedroom. I thought maybe it was just our room, but no. The whole hallway smelled musty and like animal urine. It might have something to do with them allowing pets to stay in the hotel. Another thing that happened as soon as we stepped into our room was that the air conditioner's cover broke off. We went to set the temp and boom, it just fell. We intended to notify the front desk in the morning, but the experience of the rest of our stay made us realize that nothing would really be done about it. We asked for a first floor room and they gave us one with a roll in shower, meaning that there is nothing separating the shower from the rest of the bathroom. The whole floor gets wet and guess what? Yes, you got that right! The whole bathroom ALSO smelled like wet dog (or dog urine, take your pick), from the start of our stay till the end. It made the rest of the room reek as well. Staff and house keeping was pretty much nonexistent. They advertise that light house keeping will be done every day, i.e. they'll clean bathrooms, change garbage etc., none of which was done for us. After house keeping was a no show, I called the front desk three times and requested that they please send someone. We were out of towels and the bathroom smelled god awful. We had already settled in with all our stuff, so we didn't ask for a new room. I figured a good cleaning would make the bathroom smell go away, but house keeping never showed up. After my third call, they finally sent someone and all she did was bring new towels. I had to ask her to clean up the rest of the bathroom and change garbage bags, which was embarrassing. I shouldn't have to ask, they're supposed to do that without being requested! No other hotel that I have stayed at ever gave us this issue. This place may be cheap but it's not worth it for any price!
