Unfortunately, this was probably my least favorite coffee shop experiences in London. The people who were working here were really abrupt even though the shop didn't seem particularly busy. We asked where the bathroom was and, separately, the difference between black or white coffee - not a distinction that we have in the States - and they were quite stern and seemingly annoyed when we asked. This spot seemed to be a place where people spent a bit of time to get things done, though there was no free wi-fi. A few people looked a little pretentious... just a different clientele than I feel like I saw anywhere else. Coffee and Gravadlax sandwich were ok.

Amazing bakery and coffee shop. The cinnamon roll was recommended to me by the barista and it is delicious. The outside is a little harder and has a sweet glaze on it but the inside is nice and soft, a little dry but when you have a coffee with it, it's wonderful. The coffee is nice and moderate, not too bold but has a good coffee taste.

Cinnamon roll. Still warm! Huzzah!

A good cinnamon roll is hard to find. I came here to check out their Cinnamon Rolls. Just how good were they? Pretty darn good. I'd say. Sweet but not so much that it over powers the stronger cinnamon taste. Rolled with many layers http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz_photos/Sh_PrXavTAk2d5jTs_onuQ?select=o0ASB1yte_BYX7zBg-lfAg to allow for maximum sugar and cinnamon to dough ratio. Awesome. The interior is too starkly plain and quiet for me. Like someone's dull interpretation of Ikea. I'll trade the plain austerity of the bakery for the fresh air across the street in Golden Square. The roll was still warm at 10:30am. It was a good morning =)

Nordic Bakery & Café on Golden Square

Nordic Bakery is my favorite café in Central London. It's conveniently located on Golden Square which is away from the usual tourist routes and crowds ... but not too far away. This is a Scandinavian enterprise so they have all sorts of Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, and Finnish goodies - both savoury and sweet. I especially like to grab a tea here in the afternoon and eat one of their specialty pastries - a Karelian (Finnish) pie. The staff here are friendly, the WIFI is free and easy to access, there's bike parking in front. Though it's crowded, there always seems to be one table left for me. Cheers!

Sexy cinnamon bun

Dearest Nordic Bakery, I'd like to let you know that your cinnamon buns have reduced Brinda and I to crack addicts. I'm not even joking. Because of your buns, I have been reduced to a snivelling wreck on the train searching for leftover crumbs and smelling my shirt for that amazing cinnamon smell that still lingers. The other passengers think I'm crazy. But I don't regret ordering those pillowy spiced goodness which its crispy sexy layered top on the outside and soft and warm and comforting. It was a food orgasm. I'm already having withdrawal symptons. (I found a crumb on my t shirt a few hours later, it dropped on the floor, I cried.) If anyone else would like to join my cinnamon buns anonymous where we will be getting over our addiction by, uhm, eating more of it. Please let me know. Yinnie. P.S: Following Brinda's review, I will not admit to strategically planning anything. That being said, I will not say I didn't strategically plan it either.

The Nordic Bakery opposite Golden Square in Soho is a place I discovered thanks to a Finnish friend of mine. It's become a habit of ours to meet up for coffee here, thanks to their freshly prepared Finnish treats. It's not uncommon to walk in and to be greeted by the smell of freshly baked cinnamon buns, which are hard to resist. These are not your average cinnamon buns - they're delightfully sticky and have a reassuring heft. You will not be disappointed. They also have great rye bread sandwiches, again done in typical Finnish style. I particular enjoy the ham one - incredibly simple and surprisingly satisfying. They usually ask if you want them open or closed, in other words, whether you want one piece of rye bread or two - opt for the open one, my Finnish friend assures me this is the way it's done. Another thing to note is that you can buy the rye bread in bulk, frozen which my friend does regularly and I have done once too.

Okay, so this Nordic style bakery has been staring back at me all year. Its finally time to try. And to be honest, I didn't find the hype of these cinnamon bun. I mean it is nice, but I have tasted better. I got a fresh batch, nice hot and fresh. I thought it could be more cinnamony, and lighter, but it wasn't, pastry slightly thicker than I like, and very filling. None the less, it went down with a great cup of tea. The venue is simplistic and is located away from the hustle and bustle. But because of free WiFi, its rubbish if you cant get a seat, and lovely if you do. Overall I would return, a nice change from all the cafes around these parts. Service was OK, can get busy at time, so grudge on the staff.

Yum yum??

What can I say? Nordic bakery has the best cinnamon bun in town!! As a cinnamon lover, it always hurts when a coffee shop doesn't offer anything spiced with cinnamon. But at the the same time it is always a dream come true when you find out a place specialised in making cinnamon bun/swirl/cake and etc.. Everything here comes warm even you have it taken away. Nordic bakery truly is a hidden gem. They might have a simple door front and basic interior, but their food and coffee are beyond amazing. Tasty food, clean environment, friendly staff. They totally find themselves a special place in my heart. And their signature cinnamon bun indeed warmed me up on this chilly exhausting Thursday.

The famous cinnamon bun.

Their Cinnamon Bun is notorious so I had to try it. I was not impressed. It smells and looks tempting but personally, I didn't like the taste. The cinnamon flavour seemed unpleasantly extreme to me. My black americano was very nice though. The Nodic Bakery also does other cakes and biscuits as well as sandwiches and salads, dominated by salmon. The small room was surprisingly crowded with waitresses who didn't have much to do - unsurprisingly.

Hot chocolate and their famous cinnamon bun

Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon with a few friends. I was told this place is usually packed and are famous for their cinnamon buns... So here we were! I'm not by any means a cinnamon bun connoisseur (only ever had Cinnabon, and my own freshly baked ones!), this left us slightly disappointed. Maybe it's because we didn't get them fresh out of the oven? It was a bit dry on the outer 2 layers, but when you get to the middle, it seems quite dense and stuck to my teeth a bit. Perhaps slightly undercooked (I've posted a picture)? Or maybe this is how it's supposed to be? I'm not entirely sure!! Anyhow, with all the great ratings, I would come back and give the bun another try, only if it's fresh. Flavor-wise: no complaints, nice and cinnamonny, not overly sweet and didn't need a layer of creamy icing on it. Their hot chocolate was Nice, not to rich, just the right amount of sweetness. Will be back!

Sunny day hide out

My favourite little Scandinavian bakery place with the best cinnamon bun around..hidden from the hustle and bustle of piccadilly Circus. This place is a little gem for a break away after all those tiresome walks around the shop.. Definitely a good vibe for a coffee date..

FYI the woman at the front said that is common, which is odd because 1pm isn't exactly late for lunch, but anyhow, I ended up ordering the frikadeller (Danish meatballs, potatoes with blue cheese, and salad). It was quite delicious. The salad was especially good as I really loved the quality of the greens and the light dressing. It's a charming restaurant with lots of fun Danish items to purchase- especially if you love black licorice!

We only ever had meatball sandwiches on Saturdays, made from the week's leftovers ... here they come freshly made to order, with a side order of pickled beetroot and thinly sliced cucumber salad. Somehow Jacqueline and Kell managed to condense my childhood memories and re-package them in modern Scandi style. The biggest draw is the rye bread - the only thing expat Germans miss when they live abroad. No wonder the place was packed just one week since opening. Service is as understated and friendly as the surroundings, and I was very happy with the recommendation of mint & licoirice tea. I'll have to come back to sample some snaps ...

A friend recommended the Yellow Death (banana, tequila, and rum) and I'm glad to report it was not deadly! We had pretty good service but had to bring the bill to the front counter to pay as the waitress was on a smoke break (saw her out front smoking as we left). We were told this place used to be in Stockholm but the relocated it to London awhile back. I would like to return here for the food and more shots one day!
