I feel like the employees at the DMV rarely get a fair shake. In my experience, the staff at the Norco DMV has always been polite and professional. Looking through the reviews, the same complaints keep coming up: * Long waits -- Why not make an appointment? With one, the wait is usually minimal. * Being told they need additional documents -- A quick check of the DMV website beforehand clearly lists what's required. * Failing the driving test -- If you failed, there's a good chance you made a mistake. Personally, I'm glad those drivers aren't out on the road until they can pass. So a genuine thank you to the driving examiners for keeping standards high. As for my own visit: I stopped in simply to grab a form. The security guard directed me to the woman overseeing the written tests. Even after dealing with someone who was loudly complaining about failing multiple times that day and blaming her, she remained calm, kind, and helpful. I told her what I needed, she handed me the form, and I was on my way. Mission accomplished in minutes. Great experience. The staff here does a tough job under constant scrutiny, and they deserve more credit than they get. read more

My daughter had an appointment today at 2:40 PM for her California permit test. She is 16 years old. We brought her passport and the Certificate of Completion of Driver Education. However, at Window 7, the DMV employee told us that we also needed documents to prove our residential address, showing that my daughter and I live at the same address. Because of that, she was not allowed to take the permit test. I went back home and brought additional documents, including: Her birth certificate Her U.S. citizenship certificate / U.S. passport Her school report card, which shows both my name and her name with the same address. However, the employee at Window 7 still did not accept those documents. She said that the address proof must be a statement or account document in my daughter's own name, showing her name, date of birth, and address. We go to dmv 2 time and her So she refused... and we will never want to go there again. read more

Before the exam, he was rude and very racist--as said by other people, he uses such micro aggression to disturb and yes, you know, he will use various ways to fail you--and during the exam he murmurs which makes you feel confused what's his instructions. If you get Angel as your driving examiner, leave. I thought the complaints were exaggerated only to finally meet my doom as he stepped into my car. Immediately he had the CRAZIEST attitude and then he gave an automatic fail minutes into the test for not going up to speed limit directly after turning onto a main street (40mph) when there was a red light right up ahead with a medium line of cars already waiting. That would have meant i would have accelerated only to brake suddenly after. I tried to ask about that but he said speed limit is law regardless and I only impeded traffic. After that he took me back to the DMV through a little side street and a driver side swiped me. I quickly swerved left so they didn't hit me. Angel then told me the driver wasn't right for all that but neither was I and I should mind myself and the speed limit next time to prevent that...okay. Back in the DMV parking lot he asked if i had any questions while he was already LEAVING the car so I quickly asked for tips/constructive feedback. He didn't even look at me and just said really fast that I needed more practice and to read my score paper then disappeared. I really don't get how he's still working there. Checked in last month to get my Driver's License renewed and the Norco DMV Team did a wonderful job assisting me with the process! There was a beautiful well dressed Latina Chief who showed me how to pull up the code I needed through my Email when I forgot to bring my paperwork and I appreciated how she gave me a clear and realistic wait time of 1.5 to 2 hours and told me I could wait and relax in my car and I would be able to see my place in line through my phone. I followed her advice and enjoyed studying in my car in the sunny beautiful weather, and even went for a nice walk to Don Luisa's Mexican Grill to eat lunch with another DMV waiting Gentleman to pass the time constructively and peacefully. When it was my time to get called up Tiffany took my payment and administered my Eye Test professionally, and I really appreciated Angel the Team Member who took my picture patiently and wished me a nice day with high quality hospitality! Sister took the driving test today and her instructor was ANGEL there are various reviews about him and they're all right. My sister on her test came across a situation where the ambulance was coming and as we all know we are to pull over and stop for the ambulance and my sister did just that. And he told her to go back to the dmv and failed her???? Like what??? She asked to clarify, "are you not supposed to pull over for emergency vehicles?" And he responded "I don't know what would you do" and she replied "pull over like I just did" and he failed her because of that. read more

The test was ended about four minutes in, and I was directed to return early without being given a fair opportunity to complete the full evaluation. When we reviewed the score sheet, I noticed sections were left blank and no total points were calculated. The only marked issue was "drive at posted speed limit," which was confusing since I was driving at the speed limit. During the pre-check portion, the examiner did not ask me to identify vehicle controls but marked on my paperwork that he had. That was concerning. What made the situation worse was the unprofessional communication afterward. When my tia tried to respectfully ask questions about my results and how I could improve for next time, the examiner kept walking away while responding sarcastically. At one point he told her I was a "great driver," which felt contradictory given that he had just failed me. When I expressed that I felt uncomfortable driving that particular car (it was the only one available to me), he responded with, "Yeah, I can tell," in a dismissive tone. I am generally a cautious and safe driver (if anything, I tend to drive slightly under the limit), so this experience felt inconsistent and unfair. I would highly suggest not taking your behind the wheel drive test here. No matter how well you drive, the examiners will fail you for not driving how they drive. The test is suppose to measure how confident you are as a driver and how well you know traffic laws. Not whether or not you can drive the way the examiner drives. Failing students for waiting at a stop sign for 3 seconds is chicken shit. These examiners may want to study up on their traffic laws instead of creating their own. The standards here in California are garbage as it is and don't even truly measure how well a driver can drive. I would test in Temecula. At least they are pretty fair. read more

I can't say the same for the person at the walk up window when you first walk in. That lady was a complete jerk. I told her I needed a new photo for my license and updated address for it also. She said since I was mailed a mail offer that I wouldn't be able to do it in person. I recently went through the driving test process at the DMV and was assigned to an instructor named Angel. Unfortunately, my experience was frustrating and disappointing. It felt like Angel was more focused on finding reasons to fail candidates than on fairly evaluating their driving skills. The security guard was short and rude with us. Somehow by God's grace we made it to Arlene's desk. She was so patient and kind to my kids through the whole silly, awkward experience. Bro called us over and greeted us with some hilarious banter and told us exactly what to do. I was in line and the older black lady that does security was asking everyone questions and if they responded with a "yeah" instead of "yes" she would give them a dirty look and ask them the question again until she would end up saying-"I don't repond to yeah, I only respond to yes because social media has ruined yall." I had a good experience coming in here on what I thought was a decent crowd day to do a driver's license renewal. This office is located in a very open area, where it's primarily this DMV and then there's a post office on the other side once you drive around to the other side (yes, you can do your errands if you're around this area). Anyway, this was a fairly big DMV, with the usual information desk once you walk-in. You'll be greeted by an older gentleman security guard, then you'll go to the line to the information desk, tell them what you need done, they give you a ticket, and you can either stand or sit in the many seats in the office. I had all good experiences with the staff here, from the information check-in, to the counter lady, to the photo station. Restrooms are surprisingly clean here, though no soap (but I did have my own). Was in and out within 45 mins. So I think a good DMV office, as long as you know what you're doing there and are ok following instructions. read more

BEWARE WITH REAL ID APPLICATIONS. CAN'T TRUST THEM SUBMITTING YOUR STUFF. I came to this DMV at the beginning of April to upgrade my license to a Real ID ahead of a May trip. I had all the correct documents, a confirmation code, and paid the application fee. I completed everything--including taking a new photo--and was told it was submitted. Weeks later, I still hadn't received my ID. I contacted customer service and was told to return in person. When I did, they told me there was no record of my application. I showed them the receipt they originally gave me, and after checking with a supervisor, they claimed it must've been a "glitch in the system." I was forced to redo the entire process and still have no ID. How does an application I paid for just disappear? Completely unacceptable and unprofessional. And honestly the only nice person here with no snarky attitude is the security lady. She's so lovely and helpful. read more

I am still in awe about my experience at this DMV. Everyone was so helpful and kind - AND FUNNY. The staff here seem to really enjoy working at this office and it is extended to everyone visiting. I've been avoiding having to walk into the DMV for almost 10 years based on their slowness and past reputation. Realized I had no other choice but to walk in without an appointment this morning at 8:07 AM because I could not use their online services. I had to get three tasks done: change of address, license renewal and car registration. I was mentally preparing myself for a two hour stay but let me tell you - I was in and out and completed all three tasks within 45 minutes! The maximum amount of time I had to wait was five minutes and that was when I had to sit and wait for my number to be called. Quick and easy! Best way is to go online and answer all the information needed for your change of address / update information. From start to finish everything took me less than 10 mins in the DMV. Did my online application at home. Didn't print any paperwork just saved the 8 character ref id. And then, went on and did the online appointment "get-in-line-now" system with 5 infront of me. They will text / give you a place in Line like "G70" Left my house and arrived at the dmv in 15 minutes. Just lined up at the no appointment line and was told to take a seat since I already answered everything at home. After a minute or so, got my number called up and did my transaction. DMV is not well liked. I had a really bad experience at the Pomona location so I made an appointment here. I'd have to say that there's a stark contrast between the workers in the two locations. Everyone I encountered at Norco are very helpful even to the ones who are clueless and I watched how they interacted with those who looked like they didn't know where to go and those who are lacking paperwork.
