I checked in recently with my Mom to update her Direct Deposit information and we were really impressed by how well this Office is run! The Room was well lit and properly staffed and the Security Guard was fully in his role as the first point of contact being assertively welcoming, inviting, and showing us how to proceed using the smart and efficient high tech systems. The waiting area was clean, comfortable, and spacious and there were large screens keeping everyone updated with their place in line and which window to go to. The lady who helped my Mom was very professional and organized! She helped us update Mom's direct deposit info as requested and reassured is the reissued checks were on the way. We recieved the direct deposit yesterday and are so grateful for the staff for making the process very easy and pleasant! So I came into this office and the security guard straight up told me that he is not going to answer my question. I wanted to show him the letter and he said no to us twice. The security guard turned around and proactively asked the guy sitting next to us to see if he needed help. Before us, he was patiently asking a question from another African American lady. Wth! He really makes me think that they are doing racial profiling. Part ii, after waiting for one hour, we left the office. I called the SSA number and was told that the wait time was going to be 120 plus minutes. Since I only have today off. I searched around and found a place to upload docs. Very nice people here. And my mom wanted me to go inside with her to oversee them setting up her direct deposit for social security before the deadline. I'm like mom you don't me to go in there with you, they are here to assist. The guy in the front who greeted her said the same thing and ushered her in. It was better that way too, so she can take her time and ask all her questions without me trying to speed it up with summarizing the answers for her. Staff and security need people training. I understand people may come in a little hard headed so they are just prepared to be firm back, but not everyone is coming in with that demeanor. It's actually pretty unprofessional and disrespectful for the tax payers. 2 gentleman are very sarcastic to the elderly and non english speakers and they don't see it. First off, you'd be smart to make an appointment otherwise it's 90+ minute wait. It's very confusing here! There's a line outdoors to get inside just to get a #. Then you line back up outside in another line to be allowed a spot to sit inside where you'll wait for your # to be called. Masks are a must, and social distancing is in major effect at this location. The majority of the seats are taped off. The security guy was very adamant about where you stand, where you sit, etc. The first woman who issued my # was not friendly. The second woman who helped me with my name change application was very matter of fact and straight to the point. Not exactly friendly either, but more approachable. I've heard good things about the Glendora location and how many have gone in without an appointment and been in and out within a relatively quick time. I wish I'd have gone there, or at least made an appointment for this location. Hope I don't need a trip back here anytime soon. Notes: No cell phone usage while inside. There is a bathroom on site which was considerably busy and didn't smell particularly amazing. There are drinking fountains, but no food or drink is allowed inside except for water. Parking lot was decent, but not huge. read more

If you are prepared in advance, your social security office visit can be really pleasant. I'd recommend completing your forms ahead of time online, and seeing if any of the online services can eliminate the need for your in-person visit. If not (or if you are like me and need to get your name updated after marriage), this is for you! Tip: If you need a name change after marriage, you won't be able to schedule an appointment over the phone or online. You can walk-in for a same-day appointment, and they do encourage you to have the SS-5 form completed/done online. Bring your marriage certificate and unexpired CA DL/CA ID. Parking in this location is actually more plentiful than I was expecting, and despite a pretty decent amount of people in the lobby, the parking lot actually had spots available in front of the building. You wait in line outside, so be prepared for that (especially on a warmer day--a small portion has shade, but if it gets long, you might be waiting in the sun). When you reach the security guard, they will ask you to write your SSN and phone number on a slip, and they will guide you inside to the line to wait for disposition. Once you reach one of the greeters/check-in representatives, they will ask you what you are here for and get you queued up with a ticket number. Then, the fun part! You pick a seat and wait for them to call your number to a numbered booth. I like how the booths are clearly numbered; 1-7 are in the lobby area, 8-12 are to the right at the back of the lobby, and 13-22 are to the left at the back of the lobby. The other side of the lobby also has the bathrooms (men and women), and two water fountains. This location also has a drop-off box for paperwork, and the security guard will check with you before letting you in to ensure you don't need help from a representative. I got to the office around 11:55 AM, and I was texted at 12:59 PM to let me know they were ready for me at Window 3. My transaction took a tiny bit longer, since they accidentally forgot one of my middle names (check your name carefully when they ask you to!), but I was out of the office by 1:06 PM. 1 hour and 11 minutes isn't bad, especially during lunch time. They did mention the other transactions usually take longer, since they are more complicated. If you are wearing a mask, they will ask you to remove it for a few seconds to compare your face to the photo on your ID. I was able to clean out my inbox and do some reading during the wait time, so it was a really great experience in my book! read more

She was knowledgeable and even gave me information about my appointment that I had not even thought about. Was recently in the Social Security office in Ontario on Holt and it was packed. I was told by the nice security guard that there was a 90 minute wait before speaking to anyone. A little hesitant but i waited. It took all of that 90 minutes but once i got to the window the person was very nice and handled my issue with no problems. Overall it was a nice experience even with the wait. My take away is if you go in with a nice positive attitude you will be treated with the same. read more

Very rude staff. Unbelievably rude staff. Hung the phone up on my mother multiple times. In person, black male wearing glasses was very rude , yelling at elderly women. We are colored folk too and have never been treated this bad by anyone. Whole time they were commanding and giving orders , will never return here. read more

I am recently married so I'm going through the process of changing my name! I filled out (online) the name change form and I headed to the office! There's a line that starts outside to get to the window for a ticket number. I was in line for about 30-40 minutes before I got to the window. I then waited about another 45 minutes to see an agent. My number got called and the agent was very nice and worked quickly to help me. The one thing that helped was filling out the paperwork online beforehand! I gave him my marriage certificate and I was all done! I was in and out in about an hour and a half with no appointment and I had a great agent so all in all I'm so happy! Showed up to the office after trying to schedule an appointment online for the past 3 weeks and it give me a red box stating the service couldn't be completed, how when I didn't even get a chance to click what option I needed help with? And on top of that the security guard isn't helpful at all. This morning he states if you don't have an appointment you will not be seen. Tells everyone in line waiting to call the office because their system went down. When I asked how am I supposed to get through when the phone are busy and the online service isn't working? I recently went to change my last name && the wait time was about 1 hour and 30 minutes. It was quick and easy to check in. There was one guy that was helping people and he was rude and mean to them. Inconsiderate of their situations && over all just rude. I was the one of the few people he treated nicely that day. Security Guard was excellent. Personnel inside calls on a number, there is no answer for over 15 mins before calling the next number it's a terrible process. Customer service is awful and that extends the wait time. Literally sat in front of window 4 for two hours and saw her service two people. Must take working an hour wage literally. My wife and I recently visited the social security office and had a good experience. When we arrived, the security officer greeted us in a professional manner and explained we could check in via the social security app. We had to wait for an hour and a half but we figured it would take some time as the office was full of people. As our number was called, we went to the window and the employee was very nice and professional. One thing to realize, you're not the only person that has to conduct personal matters so don't expect to be in and out in 15-30 minutes. read more

My child has been 18 for 1 month. He is still in high school and receives assistance because of me. All of sudden he grown but I had to do the paper work and actually work for him to receive money. Yet I couldn't find out or have any questions answered at the field office. The nice people online didn't think he was to grown matter of fact they apologized for the field office. So No Thanks to Mrs. Ortiz the Site Manager. Sometimes parents just want their kids to stay kids. Like most government office, employees customer service is fair to poor. I don't think they like their jobs which isn't the public's fault. Once I showed my paperwork to change my name, they questioned me same as last time if it was the original copy since the last time I came to the office they sent me away saying the paperwork wasn't original. Now 8 years later I tried again with a new original court order and although he doubted me since it had been so long, I finally got my name changed. I'm so glad that's over!
