When they saw me struggling to get the totes to the scale while I was using a walker, two guys come to carry them in for me. Nice folks and the place is pretty clean for a recycling center.

We put the pop-tops in cans we'd collected for a year or two for a local sports team -- after all, they came from the same cans we'd been recycling for decades. We filled 17 plastic garbage cans there with crushed and uncrushed cans (filled with the pop-tops) -- and they wouldn't take any of them. Taking the slip up to the cashier, we were told that the cans we brought were all rejected. What? Of course, they were "disposed of" by dumping them in the hopper for crushing aluminum cans. In other words, they took the hundreds of pounds of aluminum for their profit... and they couldn't return them to us. Why? I guess they don't believe that the pop-tops were a part of the cans we paid CRV on. Rather than tell the sports team about the disposition of the aluminum cans we collected, I donated my own funds to cover the theft. I won't state what I'm thinking. You draw your own conclusions.
