Walkways are beautifully level and safe now - we no longer have tripping hazards. Again, very professional and friendly. Ray Anderson came to our house and did a foundation assessment of our 74 year old home. We live in an area with clay soils which expand and contract. He was very competent and honest. He didn't try to sell us something we don't need which we appreciated greatly. read more

After crawling under our house and investigating he came up with a proposal that was complete and made sense. The company's quote was reasonable and seemed in-line with what I've seen from my Internet research. We haven't decided yet if we will go with NorCal but so far so good with this company. read more

Even after you paid a deposit these people will not return calls or emails. Probably the most unprofessional company I've dealt with. First off there's Ray Anderson. Ray apparently takes week long vacations and doesn't set an out of office email reply. You would think if you call the people in the office to ask for help, they would say "Ray's on vacation this week," instead of "He'll call you back right away!" The entire office seemed to not know he was on vacation, which is a huge problem because Ray is the only person who can actually make or edit a quote. Next up is Monica McGinnis. Monica also goes on vacations and doesn't set her email to reply informing people she's out of the office. When you call the office because Monica won't return your calls or emails, they seem not to know she's on vacation and will tell you she'll call you back right away which will not happen. When you finally get Monica on the phone and ask is she got your voicemail, she will admit she doesn't check her voicemail. This is a huge problem because Monica is apparently the only person qualified to add a date to a calendar. You might think I'm one of those customers that calls a lot and has a bunch of concerns... All I was trying to do was set a date for the job after paying my deposit. I had no questions or concerns. After we made a date I got a call the night before that they needed to cancel and my appoint was bumped a few more weeks. Finally a worker shows up about an hour late on the 2nd date and they brought a huge truck that was too wide to get into a driveway (Even though a 20ft shipping container got through there fine) making the job impossible. They said they would come at 7:30am the next day with the much smaller Van to do the job. At 7:50 I get a call from Monica. She says "I think they were supposed to be there at 7:45?" I correct her, and then she apologizes for them running late but they are on their way from Fairfield (20 minutes away.) 1 hour later I try to call Monica but she doesn't pick up and her voicemail box is full. Another half hour passes and I call again, no answer. Another half hour, no answer. Finally I call the office again and they are all in a big meeting. When I comment on Monica's voicemail box being full they actually try to tell me that it must have filled up entirely within the timeframe of the meeting because of course she checks her voicemail. I never hear from Monica or Ray again, because they can't be bothered. The worker arrives alone over 3 hours late and admits that he was told to go to another job first despite my job being weeks behind schedule, and the idea that he was on his way at 7:50 was a complete lie. Monica is a liar. Around the time the worker finally arrives I get a call back from the office. I had asked her earlier to go into the meeting and get me answers, and that I would like to speak to the owner or someone above these other clowns. She was calling to let me know the owner would be calling me in a couple minutes. 4 hours later as the job was getting complete I bring this up to the worker because I never received the call. He said he will bring it up to management and he'll get him to give me a call (worker was some sort of manager apparently.) Guess what? He never called. They just sent the bill for the remaining balance of $6000 with no apologies. read more

This review pertains only to the initial assessment, so I cannot speak to the quality of the work at this point. I called NorCal primarily to address my concerns about moisture/water in the crawl space. I was frankly surprised at how thorough the (free!) assessment was, which included Scott crawling under the house, and overall took close to 2 hours start to finish. I've heard a lot of horror stories about foundation companies catastrophizing and hard-selling maybe unnecessary work, so I was very concerned about that going in to this process, but I found NorCal not be like this at all. I was offered a number of solutions to address my concerns, but didn't feel great pressure to go with any particular option. Rather, the options were laid out for me and I feel much more informed in making a choice going forward. All in all, absolutely worth an assessment if you have any concerns NorCal can address! read more

I'd give zero stars if I could. I have never written a yelp review before, but feel obligated to do so now as a warning to anyone else that may consider using this company. This the most unprofessional company I've ever worked with. I live in the Folsom area and am having an issue with soil erosion under my driveway. First, Josh came out reeking of alcohol at 11:30 in the morning. He looked at the driveway and said he'd email me a bid that day. It was more than a month and a number of phone calls later, before I received the bid from Josh. As NorCal seemed to be the only company that uses this foam to lift foundations in this area, I felt like I had no other option than to continue working with this company and told Josh I'd like to accept the contract. Never heard back. A month later I called the office to share my experience and find out what was happening. They said they had a lot of problems with Josh and that he no longer works there. They promised to send out their best guy asap. Alex came out, apologized for the company's lack of follow through and promised he would get a contract to me the same day and make sure the work got done. This was in March and I haven't heard from him since. Both Josh and Alex's appearance, lack of professionalism and the company's TERRIBLE reviews convinced me not to proceed. If this review isn't enough to convince you to go elsewhere, please continue to read other reviews, especially by those that actually got the work "done". What a nightmare. I was finally able to find another company, Bay Area Underpinning, that uses the same procedure to lift cement driveways and have an appointment with them. Thank goodness we found this place on Yelp! I sent out an SOS for Yelp quotes and of the places that responded; a few did not do the type of work required and the others were scheduling weeks out. Ram Jack said they charged $500 just to come out and look! I was beginning to panic since the required inspection was holding up the sale of our home. I was ready to pay the $500, but even they couldn't come out for 2 weeks. NorCal Foundation Support called and, after hearing my plight, scheduled someone for the next morning! I received an email confirming the appointment and a call from Matt, who was the one coming, to verify the time and address and answer any questions. He was able to do an inspection the next morning and furthermore he stayed and answered questions from us (the sellers) and the buyers which out everyone at ease and cleared up some confusion caused by a home inspector. I am eternally grateful to NorCal Foundation Support and I can't recommend them enough! Honestly, I wish I'd had them out much sooner because I had some nagging worries about floor squeaks and would have loved having my mind put at ease a long time ago! read more

I would like to give NorCal Foundation two ratings. One for their customer communication and timely response the other for the actual work. I would give them a 2 out of 5 for customer communication. I understand early on COVID19 affected their ability to work as they were used to. I gave them the benefit of the doubt. It was a long process waiting to get on the schedule and then to finish the last steps. Nine months into the pandemic they still didn't have their customer service and support system working. I usually had to e-mail and call multiple times over the course of a week or two before getting a response. Very poor customer service (the phone staff was good, but they were just taking a message). That being said, the work was excellent. KC and his crew were professional. they were reassuring without making promises they couldn't keep and they made useful suggestions, helped with little things that they didn't have to do and cleaned up after themselves well. KC even went above and beyond to repair something that he didn't have to according to the contract. I would choose NorCal Foundation Supports again. They did an excellent job. Was it expensive? Yes! Was it the correct solution for our 100+ year old house that had clearly had multiple attempts to repair the foundation? Yes! Would I encourage them to evaluate their customer communication problems to improve overall customer satisfaction? Yes! By the way, when I looked up this company a year ago, there were MANY complaints about communication problems. I went with them anyway because I am a patient person and a good communicator. I can clearly see they hired someone to clean up their yelp presence. A good business strategy, but a better response would be improving the problem by developing policies and procedures designed to reassure and keep the customer informed of the process throughout. read more

Our house is built into a hill, such that the back yard is one story higher than the front of the house. Consequently, the crawl space beneath the back half of the house is a steep embankment of soil. I was alarmed to discover that the heavy rains of the past two winters had saturated the back yard and was beginning to erode the embankment under our house and beneath the foundation. I had no idea whom to even call to address the situation, but made the right choice in contacting NorCal Foundation Support in Fairfield, CA. Ray, the manager who came out to make the initial assessment immediately demonstrated his engineering background, determining the necessary remedial steps, drawing up a scaled diagram of the work area, calculating all required materials, and presenting us an accurate estimate of the completed project, all on his first visit. He then was able to get us on their work schedule ahead of this winter's predicted heavy rains. The work crew led by Rafael was top notch. They set to work vigorously, efficiently, and with minimum disturbance to our household. At the end of each day Rafael was showing me pictures of what they had accomplished that day. The entire project was completed within a few days, and the work site was left clear of debris. I'm grateful to the expertise of the company, the competence of the work crew, and I am able to look ahead to this winter's storms with peace of mind. read more

However, once we heard he left the company we were a bit worried, how the minute details could be communicated to the crew. And we were correct, once the work started, we had to follow through and explain what was discussed as per the project to the crew. After one week into the project the crew was hit with pandemic situation, 1 week was wasted. Then a new crew with Gonzalo's was assigned. GONZALO was phenomenal..! He executed the job quickly and finished the work on time, lifted the house took many pictures of the work and what was done as an evidence. His work was excellent..! He explained the work to us and what to do to rectify certain work to protect the foundation. He went out of his way, above and beyond to make sure we are satisfied with the work..! Poly crew was excellent too, the crew identified what needs to be done with the changed situation with the foundation the did the job quickly..! During this entire process we learnt that we ourselves had to be proactive to get the work done as per our expectations. The accounting and management department was always busy, we had to follow through via email, text and phone to get the next part of work scheduled, sometimes the crew was just not available on the date that was promised, of course we do understand that we have to be flexible and navigate through such situations. During an inspection for our new home, it was discovered that we had a couple cracks in the foundation. We had a structural specialist come assess the cracks and we were given recommendations, as well as a quote, for what needed to be done. We were told the issues weren't super urgent, however, the recommendations/cost told us it was a major project. Anyways, we wanted a second opinion and Scott Cone from NorCal Foundation Support came to do his own assessment. He confirmed the cracks were minor and told us that it was a way easier fix than what we had been previously been told - and that it would also be a fraction of the cost. Scott is clearly very knowledgeable and we trust his judgement and recommendations. We also appreciate that he was able to explain the project to us in a way we could understand, as we have very little knowledge on foundations. Thank you, Scott, for your time! My wife and I engage 3 foundation support companies and NorCal presented their system/company the best. We had asked for references but never received them - but due to the 'competition' with our other options we decided to move forward blindly. My five star review is 100% due to Justin and his team lead Gonzalo. I cant remember the names of the full crew but Freddy and the other guys would be welcome back to my house any day of the week with the way they held themselves. That attitude is 100% "tone from the top" and I was extremely impressed with their work product and ethic. These guys are skilled, professional/respectful, hard working and extremely transparent. What time they would arrive and when they were taking off and returning from lunch was all clearly explained. Each step of the process from crawling under my house to digging 48 holes around the foundation was explained and the way the crew handled themselves before during and after the project is noteworthy. Speaking of after the project - my house was pretty dirty after all the excavation and Justin was able to find time with his crew to come back to my house (after working on another job) to make it nice and tidy. Josh Duncan came to do a quote for foundation repair on my house. He showed me the quoted price on his computer and told me he will be emailing the detailed quote very next day. It has been over a month and I even left him a voicemail. He never sent me the quote or returned my call. Not sure what he came to do the quote for if he did not want to send to me. He wasted bunch of my time and his own time. I am glad this company is not doing my work because if they cannot even manage to send a timely quote, how can I rely on them to get the work completed on a timely manner? The Nor-Cal crew lifted a cracked sunken 25 sq. ft section of my deck that's a 4" thick conc. pad covered with 1" thick travertine. HEAVY! The crew, Ricky Hernandez and assistant are masters of this process. The slab crack was eliminated. Theres no evidence of drilled holes or foam. This process is amazing. Great 5 star service! After meeting with many companies who offered foundation support, I decided to move forward with hiring NorCal and it was the best decision I could have ever made. From their first visit to my home, I could tell they had the expertise to help me through a very stressful situation and I was definitely correct in that assertion once they actually started the work on my home. Shawn was our foreman, and he and everyone on the team were wonderful. Jordan, the lead, Kevin, Hunter, Stanford, Ray Sr., Ray Jr., and Vanessa, the project coordinator were a pleasure to work with. I am sure I am missing some names but the entire team really went above and beyond for me and my home. Shawn and his team had clear communication with me every single day and explained what would be happening in a way that I could understand. Their work ethic is unparalleled, they worked through the heavy storm we had in the north bay a few weeks ago and did it with a great attitude! This team had to travel and spend time away from their family, and you would never know it because of how positive they were every day. There were a few unexpected hurdles like large rocks in certain parts of the home we were not expecting, but they did not let this stop them and continued to work hard to get the job completed in a timely manner. I was having other work done at my home during the foundation work, and Shawn and his team were true team players. Everyone who worked at the home said how easy it was to work with Shawn and his team. They were professional and respectful and always helped in any way they could. Because of the rain we had in our area my home was pretty dirty after the project, inside and out, and Shawn and Jordan did an incredible job of cleaning up, so much so that you would never know that my house had just had over 40 deep holes a few days before! I sincerely appreciated their attention to detail because I could immediately use my yard after how well they cleaned it up. I was extremely impressed but did not expect any less after how great they had been during the whole project. From start to finish you made it as easy of a process as anyone can hope for!
