We saw Turf's up a few years ago and said we'd make it a point to visit on a rainy day. Today we spent an hour there and wish we'd booked more. It's so much fun! Our two kids (10 and 12) loved it. It's a great facility with every game you can imagine from golf to baseball, hockey to basketball. There's even a bar. Karen was extremely friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go back. I had the "alpha" horse Redbull; hubby had the wild girl, Gypsy. It was so easy to ride, lead, and let them take us on the tour of Cape Hatteras National Seashore. I was amazed at how the horses seemed to know when it was time to head out & turn around on their own because the guide wasn't near by to lead! But it was still an enjoyable experience over all. I would recommend that they consider offering a longer more private ride option in addition to their services! We definitely would have paid more to have a longer ride time at a pace we would have enjoyed more!

We saw 4 of them during the trip, guess it was too hot for them to come out of water (Aug, 80-90F sunny days). The later half of the trip would require some kayak skills to turn, zigzag, etc...wish we, the beginners, would have more time to practice...Rebecca is great to work with, she tried best to accommodate everyone's needs, just a large group to handle with different kayak skill level (8-9 kayaks, 13-15 ppl). Make sure to bring waters sun screen and bug sprays. Telescope can be helpful on the river to identify the gator( they are camouflage masters on water), lots of time you can see the head, nose and eyes.

It's the tallest living sand dune system on the East Coast, and the views from the top are amazing, especially at sunset. The visitor center has some neat exhibits about the history and ecology of the dunes, and the rangers are helpful with tips on where to go. People are out there flying kites or even taking hang gliding lessons, which makes it a lively place. Admission is free and it's a unique experience you don't want to miss.

There are amazing sand dunes, where you can literally go fly a kite! Not for the faint of heart or the tired of legs, be ready for the weather and to climb dunes. There is a lookout at the end of a boardwalk area if you just want to take a few quick pictures. If you need a kite, Kitty Hawk Kites has a small shop at the park to grab some essentials. You can also skate down the dunes if you're adventurous. We had so much sand covering us once we got back in the car but it was 100% worth it. They do have a rinse off spot next to the welcome center/restrooms. Pro tip: baby powder will help you brush off sand once you're ready to head home

This was easily the most fun we had on our recent vacation! We had a pretty mixed group with a lot…read moreof kids and some adults who were crabbing. I just came along for the ride and helped locate the little guys. At first, it seemed like it would be a project finding them, but every minute it gets darker, you realize you're surrounded. Between the beautiful sunset, kids having a ton of fun, and learning some about the local wildlife (we found a couple pregnant crabs!), it really was a great experience and we'll do it again for sure on our next trip. Fair warning though for my fellow mid-lifers -- if you're not much of a hiker/runner, walking through the sand dunes for a good two hours REALLY left me pretty sore! So plan a dip in the hot tub after if you've got one in the rental. :)

Great deal where each adult paid $15 to play 36 holes of mini golf. It is the off-season, so it was…read morenot crowded on the course, but it was a fun time putting through a variety of obstacles. I've been on more elaborately decorated mini golf courses, but this is pleasant enough and well-maintained. I would have preferred a bit more shade while playing on a sunny day, but then that probably would have led to more leaves on the greens. The pop music soundtrack contributed to a lighthearted mood. It was a good way to spend part of a Saturday afternoon here on the Outer Banks!
