There's a small aquarium with fish you'd find swimming underneath the pier itself, too, which is air conditioned, and a snack shop and huge gift shop. If fishing is your jam, they'll hook you up with everything you need for a day of casting and catching. Say hey to the friendly pelicans, maybe toss them a spare fish if you've got it.

The Captain's son was so unfriendly I didn't even get his name. I know the other kid was Caden, and there was nothing going on there either. They had no personality whatsoever, at least around families and kids, all of whom were well behaved. No explanation about where we were going or what we were doing. The deckhands vaped and ate on deck, talking to themselves and didn't move much. They didn't catch much fish either, which I understand can be the luck of the draw, but if their technique was at all like their personalities, it's no wonder we were mostly empty handed. Avoid this outfitter at all costs if you want to interact with the crew or if you are looking for friendly people. Would absolutely not recommend with kids and families.

Saw an ad for the CD boat trips in the OBX guide so decided to give the sunset cruise a try. Had…read moresome trouble with the online booking so called instead and signed up smoothly. It was a cloudy day with threat of rain but the cruise took off on time. There were about 30 passengers which was about one-third capacity so there's plenty of seating and space to move around on both upper and lower decks. Didn't see a lot of wildlife other than swarms of seabirds circling and chasing the shrimp boats with a fresh catch which was a fun sight. Finished a few minutes early so didn't really see the actual sunset as it looked like the rain was about to start - which it did as soon as we got off the boat so it was a good call on the part of the captain. They sell some simple snacks and drinks on the boat but you could also bring your own, although we didn't bother for this 1.5 hour trip. All in all a nice cruise - next time we might go for a fishing trip for a change.
