The place was open and bright…read more We ordered: Xin Jiang BBQ Cabbage (3.5/5) which was full of flavour from the cumin, Sichuan pepper, star anise etc. The cabbage was crunchy and fresh. It could use a bit more char. Szechuan Fish Fillet in Peppercorn Chilli Soup (4/5) which had tender and perfectly poached fish fillets. We wish it was spicier but otherwise this dish was tasty and full of fragrant spices. Egg & Chive Pancakes (4/5) was packed with filling and the pancake had a really crispy texture on the outside but soft on the inside. It had glass noodles inside as well. It has a faint aromatic flavour that wasn't too overpowering. We poured some of the Szechuan peppercorn chilli soup inside too which tied in all the flavours together.

The Dim Sum items we ordered (3) were excellent, but the Spicy Beef dish was very mediocre. The beef was tough and dried out... With way too much cilantro... Honestly not very good, nor was the portion very large for the $23 price. I also ordered a steamed rice which was hard and frankly tasted like a packet of Uncle Ben's Minute Rice. Service was quite slow considering the place only had 3 tables including ours. Overall I would not come back... Price was very high, at $66 before tip, for what we got and really not very good. Won't go back.

I don't usually trust places with chicken balls on the menu but I'm so glad we gave this place a chance. As a party of 6 on a Saturday at 8pm, they were able to easily accommodate us. Parking is also very easy to find. The menu is very extensive and can easily be overwhelming, with over 100 items. However the staff are very helpful in describing what each item is, recommending what's most popular and what they personally like. We never had Cambodian cuisine before, so we took their recommendations and they were bang-on! It was my first time having Cambodian-style pho - the soup base is garlic based rather than bone broth based, which honestly I think I prefer more! The wings were also crispy (not much special flavour) and beef skewers were very lemongrass-tasting, which was refreshing. Their prices are also not bad at all. If I was in the area, I would definitely come back.

It has a nice flavour profile and I really enjoy the amount of veggies and meat they put in making each mouthful a treat. During my last visit I got their Cantonese Chow Mein with beef and found myself regretting that I didn't get the noodle soup again. The Cantonese Chow Mein was decent.. good enough to finish but needs the rooster sriracha hot sauce for a nice kick. Their chicken wing appetizer is good and I enjoyed the pickled carrots and pickles with it. Staff is always warm and friendly. Would go back and would recommend.

Today was Tuesday, so we were good to go. The promo was $25 including 1 bowl of noodle, 1 bowl of clay pot rice with meat and 1 of snack dishes. We could choose them from the special menu. We chose the beef noodle soup, chicken & mushroom clay pot with soup, and the snack was the deep fried wonton. The wonton was great, so delicious and my little one loved it so much; the beef noodle soup was ok, but only a few pieces of beef and radish; the clay pot was the most I like, when I put the soy sauce in, the pot was boiling. That's so nice. That also caused the crackers at the bottom. That's really amazing. We also got a little bowl of the seaweed soup for the clay pot. So nice. This special deal was so good that enough for all of us. Next time, I would like to try other options.

Came here to try their $25 double combo and it did not disappoint!…read more For just $25, you get a full meal for two -- including hand-pulled noodles, a claypot dish, and a snack. The Lanzhou noodles had a great chewy texture and tasted super fresh. The claypot rice was warm, savory, and had that nice crispy bottom layer which made it extra satisfying. Portions are generous and the flavors feel very authentic and comforting -- like a home-cooked meal. It's a great budget-friendly option in Markham, especially if you're dining with a friend or partner. Definitely a hidden gem for cheap eats. Would recommend if you're craving noodles and claypot rice without spending too much!

My visit to Noodle Max would be one of these unexplained phenomenon. I was really hoping to try this hyped up beef noodle place in Richmond Hill, only to have my hope squashed by a long line up at 4:20pm in the afternoon. 4:20!!! WTH!!! On a snowy, slushy late afternoon, I blindly (and slowly) drove my way aimlessly to Aurora. I remember some Asian restaurant getting rave reviews up in Aurora and that being Noodle Max (maybe it wasn't so aimless). If you are someone who believes in destiny, I can tell you destiny will occasionally give you sxxxxy things. Noodle Max would be one of them. Noodle Max's main offerings are Lan Zhou style noodles and was it ever an unauthentic and underwhelming experience. I wouldn't go as far to say the soup was tasteless like water, but it's pretty bland. While the soup for Lan Zhou noodles are not generally crazy strong in flavour, it should still have the taste of spices. The beef slices were also pretty tame in flavour. They were ok. The main plus about their noodle was the portion; quite big. The noodle had better texture than most store bought noodles, but it did not have the proper floury taste and the limited flavours from the soup was not able to hang onto the noodles. Aurora used to be a black hole in terms of dining options, but not anymore. How Noodle Max continued to garner such a high Yelp and Google rating befuddles me.
