    $10.50 - Butter Chicken - Medium

My review is based on a single takeout in March 2023. We ordered 2 butter chickens, 1 chicken tikka masala, 3 garlic naans, and 1 plain rice. Both butter chicken and chicken tikka masala were very tasty and not oily. However, chicken breast was very dry and I would've preferred dark chicken thigh meat instead. The spices they use are good though. Both dishes were very tasty. Garlic naan was pretty bad. They were plain and flat, as opposed to fluffy and flavourful. I'm not sure if it has to do with their tandoor or not but I've had much better garlic naans elsewhere. Plain rice was nothing to write home about. I wish they added some garlic to add flavour but the price is right and the portion was enough for 6 people. Please note that a medium takeout container is pretty small. It's not big enough for multiple people. Please refer to the photo with my hand next to one for scale. Overall, this restaurant serves tasty Indian food, but they need to do something about their naans. I've tried better tasting naans that are fluffy and fresh. I know it can be done. It's a matter of will on the part of the chef and the owner.

I've been to Taj Bistro several times before. It's nice to have good Indian food in Barrie. Especially when it can also be done gluten free. Today I took a friend and we split several different dishes. Chicken Tikka Labadar, Vegetable Jalferezi, Shahi Paneer, and Daal Makhani. The dishes were all excellent, the service was top notch, and the place was very clean. The food had some Interesting touches to it. They added shredded mozzarella to the top of the chicken Labadar. The dishes had a good amount of fresh ginger, and the vegetable jalferezi had fresh shredded cabbage in it. I love cabbage. The shahi paneer was very delicious. The paneer was a soft paneer with a very nice cream tomato sauce. Paneer is not always my first choice, but this was a very good dish. They had both meat and veggie options. Best Indian restaurant in Barrie!

Dam Good Food, Excellent Prices. Really enjoyed the Tali, and was happy to hear that it can be modified to be slightly less spicy.

Awesome food. Best Indian food around. Better than what we get in Chicago. Are here twice during our short visit and will come again.

We were in Barrie for three days, and if we had gone here the first night, we would have eaten here all weekend. We did eat dinner here twice (the second night put us an hour behind our schedule getting home to Gowanda, NY. Worth it!) The food was awesome! All of it just hit. The chicken biryani I ordered extra spicy and they obliged! It was *so* good! The paneer pakora was fluffy and delicious, the chili chicken a perfect Indo-Chinese blend. Everything I had I cannot recommend enough. My one friend got the dosa (looked so delicious) and the samosas. She loved them! My other got the chicken tandoori and the chicken momos. To quote him directly, the momos were "the best dumplings I've ever had!" If I had to levy any criticism at all, the Seekh kebabs, though delicious, were sweeter than I'm used to. And the other, bigger complaint is I live so far away that I can't make this a regular place. Which jaggy really criticism at all, haha P.S. Get the Indian Iced Coffee!

And I love Indian food, so if course there was little reason to not try them. The service was a little scattered, but that's okay, it late on a Friday night. It took a little longer than I would have liked, but again I was very hungry and it was late. The food. Okay, I had the chicken Seekh kebabs. They were alright, but much sweeter than I am used to. It was kind of a surprise, and not an entirely welcome one. I also had chili paneer, because I'm a sucker for a good fusion dish. The paneer was great, but I ordered it extra spicy and it was really not. At all. It wasn't even medium. Kind of sweet, and rather passive on the heat. The biryani rice wasn't bad. But it wasn't great either. Overall it was a mid experience. I would have rated them a little higher, but the price was a bit heftier then the food that was provided. I didn't hate it, I'm glad they were open, but I won't exactly be back next time I'm in Barrie

The restaurant has a pretty large seating space to avoid unintentional eavesdropping. There's adequate lighting that doesn't force the patrons to guess what is it that they are eating. Our server, forgot his name, was very welcoming and made some interesting recommendations as well. When it comes to the food, at least on the menu there are a lot of options, vegetarian and non-vegetarian, to choose from. We tried the Chicken Tikka for starters and absolutely loved it. For the mains, we ordered the Butter Chicken but felt the curry was a tad too sweet to our liking. I did feel that they were understaffed for the night and with the surge in patrons our server was overwhelmed and forgot to provide serving spoons. That being said, I am definitely gonna revisit this place to try some of the other options they offer on the menu.
