Stopped in for a bite while traveling through the area. Restaurant has some seating for larger groups or smaller tables. Staff were friendly and efficient in taking and getting orders out. I had Tom Yum seafood with noodles and deep fried shrimp spring rolls. The spring rolls were quite good with crunchy veg inside with a few shrimp. The Tom Yum was ok but nothing to write home about. The flavor was ok but not very authentic with crinkle cut carrot in the soup. The serving size was also fairly small and not akin to what you would get in Toronto or ever Kitchener/Waterloo. So maybe a bit on the pricey side but maybe as good as it gets for the area. read more

I'm from Los Angeles where they have all types of amazing food and I must say that this place is delicious. I have been working out here in the hospital for a little over a week and I have eaten here three times. This is what you call quality authentic food that is reasonably priced. I ordered a few soups (two chicken and one shrimp), three satays (shrimp and chicken) mango salads and two curries various with jasmine rice. I asked for my soup to come without noodles as I wanted to add my own konjac noodles at home, which turned out lovely. Beautiful spice level, I got medium and was happy although I tend to like hotter food. I'd suggest to level down. The theme seems to be HUGE portions! The salad we could have split between three, fresh ripe mango and cashews. The shrimp satay was great, I can't attest to the spring rolls, curries or chicken satay as I didn't have any. 10/10 I'd recommend and will be making the two hour drive back again, to dine in next time. read more

Very decent Thai food for Orillia. The owners are from Thailand. I asked them and they were from the Northern parts. I have been to Thailand so I would know if the food was authentic tasting or not. I also do a lot of Thai cooking myself and know many of the ingredients used. Atmosphere is okay. There is carpet and the tables and chairs are just typical design and it used to be a breakfast diner. Service is excellent. The staff are nice and food is always served fast. They fill your glass with water and are smiling. These are the dishes I have tried: 1. Panang Curry 7/10 thought the dried kaffir lime leaves were weird,. however meat was good in it the beef was fresh and the flavour and consistency was nice. Not super hot at all. 2. Pad Thai 7/10 pretty good, had better but its has a tangier taste, the shrimp and chicken were very fresh. 3. Mango Salad 4/10- Mangoes were a bit raw and dressing was okay, tasted more or so like fish sauce only. There were cilantro,carrots, and red onions on it, some peanuts. 4. Wonton Soup- 8/10 Nice wontons, meat was really ground up and tasted like chicken or pork, Broth was nice and had shanghai bak choy and some carrots/cilantro leaves. 5. Pad Ee Sew - 9/10 Thick rice noodles in sweet dark soy sauce with chinese broccolli, carrots , onions, chicken , oily but noodles were not overcooked. 6. Sweet and sour Chicken - 6/10 flavour was nice, had pineapple, green peppers, good flavour, chicken was not deep fried. 7. Mango Chicken Stir-Fry w/ Cashews - 6/10 Not too much mangoes, tangy, sweet, had some cashews that was nice, chicken fresh. 8. White Rice - Dry a bit,but always warm 9. Ginger Tea- Was from a bag, okay, not that good. 10. Stir- fried Glass Noodles - 8/10 Chinese Brocolli, black mushrooms, carrots, chicken was fresh, soy, very nice, good flavour, noodles weren't over cooked. Overall it won't be as good as thailand,however it is pretty good for the city they are in. They do use the thai basil leaves, fish sauce, garlics, galangal and many other spices that do make the food taste authentic. I find the veggies usually really raw and not cooked thoroughly enough. The plating is nice they always put it in a fish shaped plate ,use good quality cutlery and bowls that are authentic and you would see these in Thailand. I would recommend this place for lunch or dinner and it is decent food. The manager is really accomodating and nice. If you don't like spicy food and mild only it would be difficult, so please don't expect it to be bland tasting. It will have a bit of spice. It really makes it hard for them to cook food the way you want when it is supposed to be authentic thai with many spices and flavourings. However, the manager is really accomodating and nice so you can ask to make it less hot. read more

After a 3 hour trip to Orillia, we settled in at the Econo-Lodge and I needed food. I wanted something relatively healthy, so I yelped the location and Thai Plate sounded perfect. I ordered the cashew chicken and my sister ordered the spring rolls and and tofu veggie pad see ew with a honeydew bubble tea. Spring rolls came no more than 5 minutes later, albeit quite hot. Delicioius, though. Then our entreés arrived and there was no rice, so i ordered a side of rice. As hungry as I was, I was a bit disappointed with the cashew chicken's flavour. It wasn't what I was expecting, flavour wise. But it grew on me after about 5 spoonfuls. The veggies were had that barely cooked crispness to them, which I prefer (more nutrients). The Pad See Ew should be called Pad See YUM because it's so darn DECLICIOUS! So delicious, in fact, that we ordered it with chicken to go (and I had it for breakfast and lunch the next day), another order of spring rolls and mango salad for my other sister and mom. As I write this review, 2 weeks later, I am craving for the Pad See Ew *as my stomach begins grumbling* The bill total came to around $60.00. Great food. Budget prices. This restaurant is amazing! They have such an extensive menu. In the past, we have found that many dishes served in Thai restaurants use similar sauces...not so with Thai Plate. We had three plates-seafood fried rice, basil beef, and mango chicken. All three dishes were distinctly different and delicious. We were there on a Monday so we didn't make reservations, thinking it wouldn't be busy. We were wrong. Because this is an excellent restaurant, they were very busy. I love Thai food and this place is good!. You can't beat the lunch menu combos with a great main, spring rolls and mango salad between 6.95 and 8.95. On Fridays there is a lunch buffet they keep well stocked, though it is busy. The staff are all very friendly and happy to give suggestions. The dinner menu has great offerings and if I could spell them, I'd share them. Everything is fresh and hot. No complaints. I go here as often as I can. Went here with a few girlfriends two weeks ago. Food was pretty good (I'm kind of a food snob!) and the service was prompt and friendly. The atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired. The tables and chairs are very dated and the flooring/carpet is kind of dingy. Nevertheless, it was filled with people but still allowed for conversation at our table. I had the Tom Yum soup with coconut milk. It was fresh, very creamy, and had lots of mushrooms and shrimp. Excellent flavour too, probably one of the best tasting I've had. Following that, I ordered the green curry chicken and it was good but not the best in the world. The sauce was flavourful albeit a bit runny, and there was not a lot of chicken. Usually they skip out on seafood but chicken or beef dishes tend to have more meat...this wasn't really the case. Still enjoyed it and the price was fair. Will definitely come back as the food was enjoyable and the service was friendly! read more

This is a very nice Thai restaurant with excellent food. A lot of it is really spicy, so keep that in mind. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The only thing they need to do to improve it, in my opinion, is serve hot tea with the meal, as is done at most Asian restaurants. Instead, they give you a glass of water, which is fine, but I really miss the hot tea. read more
