Brought my parents here on a weekday. It's a casual spot. We were seated right away. I ordered some pig trotters for mom, beef tripe for dad, and a bowl of rice porridge with fish for them to share. Per the waitress' recommendation, I ordered a Guilin noodles with beef sirloin, beef tendons, beef balls and fish balls for myself, and tagged on a HK milk tea also. Those were some of my parents' favorite dishes and they enjoyed them so much that they had returned to the Noodle Stop a week after. My Guilin noodles dish was pretty decent too and a good size; HK milk tea was not as strong as I like it, so I'd skip that next time. Service was good, and I especially appreciated the waitress who took extra care to ensure my parents had what they needed. Even though it had been quite a while since I'd been back, I was pretty bummed when I heard that Won Ton House had shuttered its doors. The food wasn't the greatest, save for their curry potstickers which they always seemed to run out of, but it was a familiar refuge that was never busy and stayed open late. Which, given the dearth of late night options in the Sunset, was a huge draw! Suffice to say I was pretty stoked to pass by late one night and see that Noodle Stop was open just as late as their predecessors. In fact, it was for almost that reason alone that I felt compelled to come check them out! Well, that and to see if they just might have those elusive curry potstickers that I miss so much (spoiler alert: they don't) Now, if you've ever been to Won Ton House, the inside of Noodle Stop will look all too familiar (only the cups and dishes look different). The concept of their food is fairly similar as well, focusing heavily on noodle dishes, but the menu is a bit more extensive and varied. In addition to many of the same same sorts of wonton noodle soups, dry noodles, porridges, and sides, Noodle Stop offers a lightly different range of rice plates, as well as guilin noodles, curry dishes, rice noodles, and desserts. You know, theres a lot of noodle places in the sunset. Heck theres like 5 or 6 restaurants within a block of this place that serve some form of soup noodles. The fact that this one opens late on the weekends and its cheap price for won ton noodle is enough for me to give it 5 stars. Its not usually too busy, the place is ran by a family with a couple kids, and I know they work hard just by how much they're there and how they've expanded their hours and menu. Casual Hong Kong Style Cafe specializing in noodles, won ton with different fillings and curry or stewed rice plates. In this quiet little corner of the Outer Sunset just down the street from the busy intersection of Noriega at 19th Avenue, you'll find two blocks filled with lots of little mom 'n pop restaurants like this one. Tons of angled spaces with meter parking out in front. Inside Noodle Stop, the best tables are near the front along the plate glass windows which have their own little cozy "nooks" for a modicum of semi privacy away from everyone else. On the menu, you won't find much fried stuff like chow mein or chow fun (fried wide rice noodles), as most everything from the menu here is either stewed or boiled. Odd exceptions to this include garlic fries and calamari, and the excellent selection of baked goods right there when you walk in. Items we ordered: Sweetheart/Wife Cakes 5.0/5! Excellent!! Tender flaky cookie-like pastries filled with melon paste. We have tried a lot of these from different places but these are arguably better than some fancier bakeries down the Peninsula.. We will come back for that! Gai Lan Veggies (4.0/5): Big pieces perfectly braised. Cooked perfectly, served with oyster sauce one the side. On point! Won Ton with Braised Beef Brisket (3.7/5) : 7 pieces of average to smallish won ton filled with shrimp and pork served with mostly tender beef brisket and some chewy tendons in broth. Dumpling Soup / Sui Gao: (Dumplings with chive and pork filling) (3/5): Think won tons, but bigger. Imagine pot stickers boiled and served in a chicken broth. Bingo... but the flavor of the chives overwhelmed the pork. "Spicy Curry Chicken with Rice" (2.1/5): You get a deep bowl of curry chicken, carrots and potatoes with a bowl of white rice on the side. Unlike most HK curry renditions, this one has a stronger kick to it, but is more of a curry soup, as it is a thin broth instead of a sauce. Sauce, IMHO would have been better. The white meat chicken was mostly tough, sad to say. If you must order this, get it with noodles. Onion Pancakes (2.0/5) - Imagine a flour tortilla with bits of onion in it, pan seared like a quesadilla! Kind of doughy, a smidge undercooked and sadly a bit on the bland side. I want to like Noodle Stop, but other than the sweetheart/wife cakes the other offerings weren't really our taste. Others seem to like it though! Originally, my family enjoyed the food here after recently discovering this spot in the neighborhood. Unfortunately, after today's experience, it may be our last visit. We ordered three bowls of "thick" egg noodles, but when our food arrived, they were thin noodles instead. When I politely told the waiter there was a mistake, they insisted the noodles were thick and that we had received the correct order. My wife, being her usual easygoing self, said it was fine and that we'd just eat it. But for me, it wasn't simply about accepting the wrong order, it was about the waiter refusing to acknowledge their mistake. I even asked the waiter to read the menu, which clearly listed and pictured the thick noodles. She smiled awkwardly and walked away. Our dishes were never replaced, and we ended up having to order another meal for our daughter, since she wouldn't eat the thin noodles. Tried Noodle Stop for a few deliveries. I ordered mostly snack foods but I also tried their beef entrails because I think that's one of their specialties. The pan fried green onion pancakes we had were crispy and slightly chewy. Yum. I also like the mix sauce with rice noodle rolls. The beef entrails we got was mostly all beef tripes, and since I like tripe, all good, but you may be disappointed if you are looking for more variety of entrails. Order the stewed pork fee noodles soup over the phone, the order was ready in 15 mins. It comes with 3 bowl, one for the noodles, one for the soup and the last one for the pork feet. I sip the noodles soup first, it barely has any flavor in it. Then i tried the pork feet, it's soft but it doesn't taste good at all.
