Nonna's pizzas were excellent. We ordered a large cheese and a large pepperoni with regular crust and a Sicilian pepperoni and all were very good. They regular crusts were cooked just right, not over or undercooked. The Sicilian crust was light and chewy, not underdone at all. Great sauce and plenty of toppings. Her service was too rate, too. We're always on the hunt for good pizza places and outside of my original home state of NY, it's been a struggle to find, but tonight my wife and I were very pleased to discover Nonna's. Nonna's is a little bit hidden, but it's worth the trip. We walked in and were immediately greeted by Erina, who is extremely pleasant and fun to talk with. She told us a little bit about the restaurant- they've been open for six years, her mom makes the pizza sauce and the pizzas, and Erina bakes the bread and makes the marinara sauce. This is a true family restaurant, and I'd really like people to support them and eat some really good food. My wife and I split a medium pizza and I'm ashamed to say, I demolished my 4 slices, but I thought the crust and the cheese had a great taste, and the sauce was excellent. The toppings, sausage, peppers, and mushrooms on my half, pepperoni on my wife's, were fresh and tasty- and they do not skimp on the toppings. I was really full by the time I finished the third slice, but decided I didn't need to take it home with me and I could squeeze one more in me. I did it and I have no regrets...although my wife may regret sleeping in the same room with me tonight. Haha. I can't say enough about how nice Erina and the whole family operation is, I love seeing and supporting that. Every customer that came in seemed really pleased and there were many repeat customers. Well, I love pizzas and we tried Nonna's a few months ago... Decided to write a review people were nice there, but the pizza was horrible. It was wet on the bottom and soggy the place itself. Isn't that clean but I go to places for pizza there's so many other places around for a good pizza... Also, we were in there for a special and we noticed after we left at the girl did not give us the special price and charged us. I think it was almost 4 dollars more? To tell you the truth, I wouldn't have even cared about the price if the pizza was really good unfortunately we won't be back. Sorry to say it, but it's the truth. The service was OK. The food was absolutely delicious. We came on a Wednesday only a few minutes after they opened at noon. This is an authentic Italian pizza place--what you see is what you get: a hardworking Italian family, amazing pizza and salads. The ambiance reminded some of my party of restaurants they went to in Rome. My friends ordered a medium cheese pizza, and they could tell right away it was fresh mozzarella and homemade sauce--the pizza was so big they split it and still took home leftovers. My Mediterranean Greek salad was huge. The tomatoes were so flavorful I could've eaten them just as they were! Feta was creamy and plentiful, marinated peppers, Kalamata olives, great dressing. Extremely refreshing after the heat of the beach. I absolutely recommend it! It's not the most aesthetic restaurant, and the ambiance is not particularly elegant by any means, but if you want delicious pizza and salads at decent prices made by good people, this is the way to go. read more

Nice place I picked the place and we stopped in for lunch, still having a craving for pizza. We received a friendly greeting and got settled in at a table. They offer pizza by the slice, but I usually go for specialty type pizzas. You often get more toppings and sometimes even leftovers, and that was the case today. With choices of their 8 slice size only a dollar more than their 6 slice size, getting the larger one made sense. I did stop at 4 slices and brought the rest home. My pizza choice was their Nonna Special, pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions, green peppers, and black olives. It also had red peppers when it arrived. I realize pizza from scratch, as opposed to warming up slices, takes time, for this visit about 30 minutes. When it arrived it was indeed a lot of pizza. While I thought it was kind of light on toppings, the pizza was good. It had what I would call a firmer or perhaps a little thicker NY style crust, which provided good support when you picked up a slice. I did feel like I was eating a lot of crust, and I still left the cornicione (outer edge) uneaten. When you sit at the bar to wait for your food or at the table to eat, you feel like you are in Italy--the music, the conversation. The food is made from scratch, and it's made patiently, and that comes through in the taste. We came to Bradenton, FL, and we mixed up our visits to Siesta Key, Sarasota, and Bradenton, and no less than three times did we eat in. This place is a rip-off. Asked for a menu, was given a nearly illegible chalkboard with menu items. Menu said pepperoni pizza was $17, so ordered that and a side salad. Was charged $15 for the side salad, and $21 for the pizza! Server said that the pepperoni was an extra $4. When questioned, she gave no explanation for the lettuce, tomato, onion, cuke side salad. Just said that's what it is. Later I checked their online menu and the side salad was listed as only $5.50. So they blatantly stole my money. Will never go here again. read more

We ordered 2 Sicilian pies & 2 round pies plus hot food. It was a large order $320.... They delivered it. The Sicilians were Burnt & dry. We couldn't eat them! Google searched pizza places near me on the way to Bradenton beach.... Because the kiddos wanted pizza. This was the only spot close to where we were before crossing over the bridge. We showed up right when they opened. The interior is decorated in that old style Italian pizza joint vibe. Menu was nice and had a good variety. The lady ( I assume the owner ) was friendly. Helped us order appropriately since we wouldn't be taking leftovers with us. So I appreciated that. We ordered the sausage roll, a slice of cheese pizza and a slice of pepperoni; and a kids pizza that we added the Nonna's Special toppings too because it only comes in a medium or large normally. Everything came out in a timely fashion. The slice of cheese pizza was honestly large enough to split into two normal slices. So we split each slice and split between our girls. Let me just say; when we got here I started reading reviews.... And man I was worried. But this place was really good. The sausage roll was my favorite. The breading was so soft and perfect and the cheese and sausage was a great amount. The Nonna's special was super tasty and the cheese and pepperoni slices were delicious. We still had pizza left over. It was so good though. Service was great; kids were happy and our bellies were full. Definitely don't understand the bad reviews because we had a great experience. Let's start with the good, the owner was absolutely adorable, she took care of us and was super sweet. The garlic knots and sauce was to die for! My best friend and I have been going to Gio once a month for 20 years on Cortez Road. Our favorite thing in the world was their pasta carbonara and 2 glasses of Chardonnay each lol we would laugh and eat and have a great night. Unfortunately, they closed down during Covid and we have been on a mission to find another restaurant to have our monthly girls night out. Specifically Italian, so we could get our pasta carbonara We told her that and she said we have it two ways: one is with a cream sauce and one is made with eggs and we explained we wanted the one that is with eggs (and bacon/pancetta and onions) because that is the traditional way to make pasta carbonara, she said OK sounds good. I wanted peas added to mine my best friend said no to the peas. (They were offered) They get an A for effort, but it was absolutely terrible. They cooked the eggs way too high because we got scrambled eggs!?!! and it was so dry we had to ask for extra sauce so that we could eat it. She was super sweet and brought us more sauce, but the air conditioning was broken and it was hotter than hell in there. *I had to dig at the bottom of my purse for two hair ties so my girlfriend and I could put our hair up!! it was so hot that my clothes were wet. I had read mixed reviews and I'd be willing to go back if the air gets fixed and we will definitely get pizza next time, because the sauce was to die for and the bread was so good! I'm going to assume the pizza is good as well. We've ordered pizza from Nonnas several times and have had no problems. Tonight was different. When we ordered our pizzas we were told that it would be 45 minutes to an hour before the pizzas were ready. We went in at about the 45 minute mark, realizing that we may need to wait a few minutes before our order was ready. We waited OVER AN HOUR. After about 45 minutes of waiting we were told that they were really busy. Well, duh, if they knew they were going to be that busy (and we really didn't see a lot of people come in to pick up food) they should have told us when we ordered that the order would take longer than an hour. We finally got our pizzas and arrived home two hours after we had ordered. As good as their pizza is, we're not going back. Just the right flavor of sauce (or gravy) as the Italians call it, adorns the spaghetti and meat balls. Of course they have a very very good thin crust pie that will please both the kids and a fine pizza lover's palate. Monas offers the traditional Italian restaurant fare at reasonable prices. They have indoor table seating and carry out. They also stock a limited wine and beer selection, basic but good. The best Italian food I've had in a long time! Family owned, with excellent service and variety. My family started with the garlic knots, which were phenomenal! So garlicly! Our dinners all came with salads--the homemade Italian dressing is a must-try. I had the Chicken Picata Dinner for my entree, and it was amazing. The chicken was perfectly cooked, and the sauce balanced the lemons and capers perfectly. One of the best meals I've had in Bradenton. My mom had the Eggplant Parmesan Dinner, and my dad had the Chicken Marsala Dinner. They both have pretty high standards for Italian food, and they were VERY happy with their meals. I had a decent first experience here, at 6 pm on a Saturday night and the place was empty, which was a little concerning for the beach. It is in Bradenton but near Cortez. I ended up trying the spaghetti. The family appears to be from Sicily and/or Palermo. The place was clean but the decor was tired and poorly placed (especially wall decor). Table, booth & counter space. Owner is a very pregnant mid-30s. Waitress was young and appeared to be being trained, perhaps younger family. The spaghetti came out quickly but a scraggly looking guy came out for a boat motor mixer and that was concerning. Didn't wait long and had a very larger order of spaghetti. They had to get me a spoon as I was raised "twirling". The sauce was thick, slightly sweet. The meatballs were soft and well-flavored. Owner said they were all beef made with bread in them due to her elderly patrons. I was raised on the beef/pork mix but found these wonderful. Also enjoyed the garlic knots. I did find a hair in the sauce, like belonging to the new waitress whose hair was not banded back and looked unkempt.
