I came across Nona Sushi when I was trying to plan a dinner with my mom and I'm so glad I found Nona Sushi! The service was great and our waitress was very kind - she gave good food recommendations! I got the Pina Colada roll and the Nona Sweet Potato Roll, while my mom got a regular sweet potato and the volcano roll. The garlic edamame was TO DIE FOR!! This was my first time checking out this place and I was pleased with my time. I think they had a very good lunch special menu and their food was pretty decent. The restaurant was pretty empty when we went and we were sat near the window. The dining room is pretty low key, not too many decorations or anything. The food was okay, pretty standard for a sushi restaurant but if you are in the mood for sushi and live in Lake Nona I think this is a great place to go to! Nona Sushi has fallen off a bit. I came for some of the fried rice I used to love so much, and left feeling disappointed. The flavors are just gone. It's no longer worth the price. I don't eat sushi, so I can't speak to that. It might be amazing, but I'll never know. Thankfully Durian Durian in the same plaza still has great fried rice. I'll be going there. read more

While to food is good. The garlic edamame is amazing. I can't in good faith leave a positive review. I walked in to pick up a very large order the other day and aside from the fact that it wasn't ready on time... the two men rolling sushi were not wearing masks and gloves. One man had an ill-fitting mask with no gloves handling food and rolls with his bare hands. The other than gloves on and no face mask. I believe on of them is the owner. We're in a pandemic. It wasn't crowded the food came out in a timely manner and the Sake I had was so strong I was literally feeling tipsy after one cup, the menu selection had a large variety for only the lunch menu. Overall I recommend this place if you want something quick to eat. I was so impressed with my lunch this afternoon I tried the Yakisoba Shrimp Noodles and my girlfriend got the Spicy seafood noodle soup . Nona Sushi is a cute little spot. The crab rangoons came out cold so they had to be deep fried again. The shrimp crabker roll was decent, the california rolls were alright also. I did really like their spicy mayo I think they put jalapeño or something in it to give it a little kick. Our waitress was nice, the guy who was making the sushi was pretty rude maybe he was having a bad day but for him to argue with my friend because she wanted cream cheese inside of her roll and he said quite rudely "well nobody told me" then offered it on the side and she politely said no thank you I would like it inside of the roll please. He had a terrible attitude. The waitress was so kind & apologetic, things happen my friend just wanted it to be fixed but the guy should've handled the situation without a bad attitude. Overall impression: Great service. Sushi is good. Good selection and great happy hour. Average price: $15-25/meal For cheap sushi places, this place is actually very good, especially when compared to other sushi places around the area. I have a feeling they even have actual Japanese people working here, which is not often the case with most of the other sushi places around here. From the start, we had amazing service. My wife can't eat gluten and has a bunch of other food allergies and they were more than accommodating for her, substituting for ingredients that were sometimes even more expensive than the listed ones. This was true even off the happy hour menu. Speaking of which, their prices are very reasonable and even more so during happy hour, where they have a quite a few rolls for anywhere from 25-40 percent off, as well as deals on alcohol. Although I work nearby, I haven't eaten at this restaurant in many years. But since I love sushi, I thought I would give it another try. I was really hopeful that the place would surprise me and be mega good, and then I would have the perfect spot for weekday sushi cravings. I went to their website to place my to-go order. The process was seamless, and I was given an estimated completion time. The website also asked for my phone number so that I could be notified when the food was ready. However, I never received any kind of notification. Of course, that may just be an issue with the ordering service the restaurant uses, Beyondmenu.com. When I arrived at Nona Sushi, I was immediately greeted by a young woman. As she was bagging up the styrofoam box containing my food (which had been sitting on the sushi bar, ready for pickup), I looked around. It was the lunch hour, yet there were only about four or five parties seated in the dim and dated dining room. The restaurant's lackluster atmosphere made me wonder if maybe I shouldn't have taken a chance on Nona Sushi after all. Once I got back to work, I opened up the container. Inside were two sad-looking sushi rolls: a shrimp tempura roll and the Nona Dynamite Hamachi Roll. At first I tried to keep up the positive attitude. "The shrimp tempura roll kinda looks okay," I told myself. "And...at least they gave me a good amount of soy sauce." Then I showed the rolls to my co-worker. She said out loud the words that I myself had been thinking and attempting to push out of my mind: "Why is the tuna...brown?" So what happened next? -- I ate most of the cold, bland shrimp tempura roll (the shrimp were also overcooked a bit). -- I had a few pieces of the other roll before getting grossed out by the not-so-fresh ingredients. -- I didn't get violently ill! While this experience was pretty terrible, I decided to give the restaurant two stars instead of one because it's possible that the food is better dining in (though I highly doubt it). Plus, the staff were efficient, and my food was ready on time. The ordering process was also very simple. Still, after today's meal, I won't be giving them *another* second chance to earn my business. read more

I love this place especially the happy hour. The reason why I gave it a 3 is because they are not consistent. This is HUGE for a restaurant. I get that you will always be busier on weekends and as a customer should always have patience compared to a Tuesday. However, if I am a patient customer I feel like the servers and cooks should work with the same effort they do on a less busier day. We could tell in the food DRASTICALLY! I had ordered the same fried roll on a Tuesday it was perfectly cripsy and Well put together... then the Friday it was barely fried and falling apart. My fiancé oredered the same rolls as well except they get one of them wrong twice and we could See the chef putting it together wasn't happy the second time around so he just ate it. I was treated to a yummy meal at Nona Sushi on a recent Florida vacation. My hostess loves the restaurant and suggested we visit. She was spot on. Nona Sushi was delicious! I really enjoyed Nona Sushi. It's not out of this world, but the volcano roll is as good as they say! My buddy got the bento box for lunch and enjoyed it quite a bit! I got the veggie and shrimp tempura, and while I don't regret it per se, having carrots julienned with onions in tempura batter results in you basically having large bites of tempura batter and air with some occasional onion. Yelp really let me down here! I was in town for business and wanted to grab some sushi. This place was highly rated so I was excited to grab a good dinner. I was seated right away but waited a very long time for the server to come over. That pretty much set the stage for the evening, everything took a very long time. This was only a Wednesday night and the place was not busy. I ordered an octopus and conch salad and two rolls. I figure this was pretty basic but it took forever to come out. The salad was average at best and the rolls fell apart when picked up. I was extremely disappointed with Nona Sushi. The fish was fresh, but lacked flavor to the rolls. I bought the Nona dynamite hamachi, paradise, spicy conch, spicy octopus, and the lava. They all pretty much tasted the same blandness. At least the spicy octopus had a different texture. We added lemon and some sauces ourselves to bring out the flavors of the fish and the rolls. The employees here were really nice and most wore a mask. The sushi chefs did not wear mask correctly. One wore it under his chin and the other under his nose. I didn't notice this until at least half way and our rolls were ordered so I didn't want to cancel the orders while they were being made. Even though it took them an hour to make and bring out our rolls. Would I go here again? I'm not sure. Maybe I'd give them a second go around, but if that's a dud then no. read more

I've eaten here a few times and always liked it when eating in pre-pandemic but I've been consistent let down since then. Twice when ordering takeout here (once delivery, once pickup) they've forgotten about 1/4 of my order. And the last time the nigiri I ordered was very poorly made with thin cuts of fish and so little rice they were impossible to pick up without falling apart. The happy hour deal was really good, but at full price this kid of inconsistency is hard to ignore. And while I want to support restaurants during this time, I personally don't feel comfortable eating out and seeing the other reviews that call out a lack of mask wearing among the chefs makes me think I should be supporting other places than this. read more
