Fresh and refreshingly flavors and textures. The owner went out of her way to take me on a tour of the menu explaining that the gelatin they use is vegetable base and the taro balls are made fresh on site. This is apparently a franchise from Hong Kong. We had the rain drop cake and a nomico special. Unusual flavors and textures of jello and gummies in a not too sweet dessert. Loved the experience and the freshness of it all. They also have fresh drinks and Bob's del is which I didn't try out. The service is top notch. Simple but great. read more

So if you guys go I definitely recommend getting the specials, i didn't get it, but it sounds like those are the best things to get here, My experience here overall was pretty bland, for an Asian inspired dessert store you would think to find things to be more cutesy or at least have pictures on the walls or something, It was definitely very plain and can do with an interior change. that being said the atmosphere was kinda dull, I then began to order looking at the menu it all looked good but decided that I wanted to try the raindrop cake, and the mango crepe wrap. the woman who was there seemed to be the only one working so we were pretty understanding about how long it would take for her to make everything which was fine, but she didn't seem to be very friendly though, it felt as if she didn't want to be there which definitely added on to the dull environment. when we got the food the raindrop cake was definitely cute met up to par for taking pictures, but taste overall was ok, I think when you get this raindrop cake you get it more for the experience, so yes it was good, but I don't think i will be back for it again. I was kinda disappointed as well because I know with raindrop cakes the soybean powder is usually what makes the cake have a unique taste and at this store they didn't serve it with the raindrop cake. but taste overall was good not to sweet, basically tasted like Asian jelly with the sweetened syrups they have. the crepe cake for me was not worth it what so ever DO NOT GET IT. the model they have to show you what it looks like is kind of a lie... yea it has the yellow crepe layer on the outside with white whipped cream on the inside, but on the model you see another big layer of orange/yellow which is supposed to be the fruit filling, when I got mine (i got a mango crepe wrap) there were only about maybe 8 small cubes of mango and just a ton of whipped cream, super disappointing. not only that I make crepes and the mango crepe wrap they had was not very good if I have to be completely honest. was super disappointing. If I ever decide to go back it would probably for their specials, but this time around i would probably just get it to go and enjoy it else where. read more

I'm an Asian dessert fanatic and was ecstatic to discover this spot in Tucson! Nomico brought me back to Hong Kong. If you are looking for unique textures, semi sweet flavors, and lightness, I recommend this place. It is very different from American desserts. I enjoyed the Nomico special because it has grass jelly, red bean, boba, and snow. I've had raindrop cake in NYC and tried it for the second time at Nomico - it's something that's fun to try, but kind of plain in flavor (also a little overpriced at $5-6). I would much rather have their other desserts. Nomico is handicap accessible, clean, and casual. They also have board games. The space is uncomfortably warm though. Thankfully my dessert cooled me off, but they should turn on the AC. Overall, very authentic Asian dessert selection. read more

Ok so first let me say this place is a Gem! Strictly because the dessert was amazing! However, when we arrived at 2:45pm (yelp said they open at 2pm) it was not open. I checked google and google said 3pm. So we waited until 3pm. We got there no one was there? Then I decided since I drove out here and I was really looking forward to this I'll wait another 30 min. Well she still didn't show. I was extremely upset. But I went back around 6:30pm and she was open. I tried the grapefruit raindrop cake. That was something I won't order again. It just wasn't something I liked but it was beautiful and unique. I also had the butterfly tea with milk. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! Even the mango butterfly tea was good! I also had a strawberry bubble waffle and it was slightly over cooked but still good! I also got her mochi and guys that's one damn good mochi! Strawberry and mango so delicious I also got a banana crepe and the filling was perfect not too sweet! I recommend coming here but I don't suggest coming right when they open because apparently mei chooses whenever to open up. That's just the disappointing part about it. I'm hesitant to come because I don't want to waste my time! But it was so good I will try to come later in the night again! read more

This place fills a void for me in Tucson. Sure, you can find sweets here, but there really aren't many places to stop and have a unique snack. As for "healthy" desserts, I'm thinking that might be a bit of a stretch for most of what they offer but that is to say they serve up some mighty tasty dishes. From what I gather, the desserts are Hong Kong style (correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not super familiar) and seem to be influenced by some of the popular street foods there. They serve things like Panna Cotta with red beans, bubble waffles, matcha ice cream, and butterfly pea tea. I was really surprised at their list of items, it is quite large! My 3 star review is because I ordered a bubble waffle with matcha ice cream based on the display waffle they had. It looked large and extra fluffy and golden brown; however when it was served it was small, flat, and a bit overdone. The matcha ice cream also tasted old and freezer burned, and I was pretty disappointed. My husband got the panna cotta with red beans and it was very good. Another problem was that after we ordered it took a very long time (15+ minutes) to come out and we were the only people in the restaurant. The panna cotta was delivered first and by the time I got my waffle and ice cream he was almost done with his bowl. I would go back again if I was in the area to try something different, but I don't think I will be rushing back to that side of town just to go here. I think it's worth a try, especially for those who may be unfamiliar with Asian desserts and more unique flavors like red bean or matcha. read more

I wanted to check out this place with my fiance, who is a HK native. He always tells me how delicious their desserts are in Hong Kong. We were both not very impressed with what we got, but I did like the "papaya coco milk"--I think it's called--a lot. They have a wide selection of desserts, at very affordable prices. The place is very clean and nicely decorated. It is also very quiet, which is ideal for studying--as a college student, I like to find quiet spots for my study sessions. Here is the crux of my issue- The place sells desserts. The place is full of toys and cute cartoon characters. The place is full of light and bright colors. And then there was a server who could be a dour understudy for Nurse Ratched from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. It was a stark contrast. So was that the server's personality or is it a result of management under-staffing the shop so that the server has low morale? It seemed like she was ringing people up and preparing the food. I hope she wasn't working there alone as that just seems like a recipe for disaster. In any case, the food delivered was good. The shop is bright and inviting. I enjoyed all of the different textures together and it was just the right amount of sweetness! Minus the first star because The last thing I would like to think of is the smell of cleaning products, especially when it comes to dessert. This was the first thing I noticed when I walked in. Additionally, the atmosphere wasn't very inviting or vibrant, no music, TV's off, all you hear is quiet talking. Minus the second star because we wanted Nutella crepe but they didn't have the equipment to make it that day. Why advertise this on the menu when it can't be offered to its customers? That was a little disappointing and not the way to start business. We ended up getting the #1 nomico special which was pretty good. I still like sampling their menu (everything's been good so far), and the hubs has settled into ordering his absolute favorite every time: the traditional panna cotta with mango. While located in a generic strip mall, this Hong Kong-inspired cafe cannot be accused of blandness or a lack of quirkiness. I was amused by all the random knickknacks and games which demonstrated an attempt to be cute and playful. I had wanted to try one of the raindrop cakes. Unfortunately, they were out of those that afternoon. I went for the Hong Kong-style milk tea (hot for me, although you can get a cold one) which came with pearls of boba goodness and also the traditional Hong Kong dessert of Mango Juice with Grapefruit. Nomico's milk tea was just as good as the ones I've had in my sojourns in Hong Kong. The mango dessert was also excellent and refreshing. My only gripe was the slow service. It took them 15 minutes to make the mango dessert. It could have been faster (again, speaking from experience). Also, the mango dessert was a takeaway but it came out in a dine-in bowl. The server was apologetic about it because she had to pour the dessert into a styrofoam cup which destroyed the cute presentation. Their Hong Kong style milk tea used to be so good. My boyfriend wanted to come back for more, but it was really watered down the next time we tried it.
