If the vid loads, you can see they would likely consider themselves a "cuisine" kind of place instead of just a "restaurant". They were moderately attentive, but friendly enough. I got the birrera (sp?) tacos. They came with 2 sauces & were good. I was told one of them were hot. Well, it might be "gringo hot" but wasn't really very hot. Everything was good, but I'd say a little pricy ($17 for three street tacos). I probably won't be back, just because I'm a cheapskate & there is an Arby's right next door. read more

Found this place while driving back from Chicago and couldn't have been more pleased with my experience! What a cute establishment- there is both indoor and patio seating. We got the salsa flight and queso and the salsas were quite different from any I had had. It was nice to try something different. The tacos were excellent as well and on par with other street taco prices. I actually only spent $7 on my meal and that included splitting the chips, salsa and queso with friends so very reasonably priced. Our server was quite nice but did seem to be a little confused when we asked about some allergies people in our party had. But when we started asking specifically about ingredients in the food and dips, we did get the information we needed. Would definitely go back and encourage others to try this place too. read more

I love the downtown location and looked forward to having one closer to me. Unfortunately, my recent visit didn't match the great experiences I've had before. Our server was unfriendly, and our questions seemed to irritate her. When my food arrived, it came with a salsa that I didn't like. When I asked for a different salsa, she simply pointed to my plate and said, "You have one already." We ordered two additional salsas, which we weren't informed would cost $2 each, and they weren't spicy as expected. My dad asked for regular black coffee and she rudely replied that they only offer cafe de olla, which is brewed coffee with cinnamon and sweetened usually with piloncillo. I ordered one and it was sweet, usually don't need to add anything to it but milk and water were needed. Despite being the only table there since we arrived at opening, my request for a special Father's Day dessert, which I had mentioned when making the reservation, was ignored. And when we paid, we split the bill and gratuity was added for a party of 5 adults and a child, which was new to me. Also our tip wasn't split and they charged each of us 20% on the total and we didn't realize until after we left. I'm all for 20% but not when the service is terrible. We stopped by for lunch last week on our return from southern Indiana. The restaurant was okay, but nothing I would recommend. So many great taco places these days and Nom Nom wasn't living up to the hype. We got the chips and salsa order, but the waitress just brought them and didn't explain any of the 3 sauces. Chips were good - sauces were okay. For tacos - we got the pulpo (octopus), rajas pobalanos, and pibil. We weren't a fan of the corn tortillas - my husband thought they tasted a bit stale. The octopus was fine - but we've definitely had better. I liked the salsa that came with the rajas poblanos. But truly - nothing stood out. Wow! This place was awesome. Great selection of drinks. Appetizers were so good and came with a nice selection of dipping sauces. I could eat the taquitos as a meal. The tacos were really good too and had several varieties. And loved the homemade choco-tacos desert. We visited Nom Nom on Veterans Memorial Parkway for the first time. We were very pleased. The food was wonderful. I had enchiladas suizas. My hubs had a Pulpo (that being octopus taco). That's right, octopus! Nacho chips are seasoned and a bit spicy; but, we like a bit spicy. The basket was ample and came with three dips. One thing different from other restaurants, you are charged $4.00 for the nachos. We believe it was well worth the money. The tables are preset and displayed cloth napkins (see pictures). The atmosphere was untypical of a Mexican restaurant - a bit upscale. We think it is a step above the normal Mexican restaurant. Our waiter was very punctual and took care of our needs. Price is a bit higher than others but well worth it. We will go back. Give it a try; we think you will return. read more

I have visited Nom Nom's downtown location so I was excited that a south side location closer to my home was opening on Veteran's Memorial Parkway (the address is an access road behind the restaurant). The interior is trendy just like downtown with large colorful wall murals and neon signs. Inside seating is limited but there is an outside seating area with a walk up bar. Can't wait for better weather to sit out there. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is delicious with many taco variations. The prices are moderate. However there was a small glitch. Our sever thought I said "burrito" when I ordered enchilada huevos off the Sunday brunch menu. The same filling but in a burrito. I accepted it and enjoyed it, but it marred an otherwise great experience. I'm certain I'll be back. read more

I think that it is important to note that I LOVE the downtown location, but the southside location could use some training in interpersonal relationships. Between work meetings and family lunches/dinners, I eat at Nom Nom around twice a week, split between the downtown and southside locations. I will not go back, specifically to the one on Builder drive, but possibly to either due to no response from owner/manager. As stated, I go around twice a week and have for the past 6-8 months. Between my coworkers and myself, we likely spend around $400/week at Nom Nom. And judging by how few people are at the South Side location, I assume that number is slightly significant. Today, I requested a substitution to a drink due to an allergy, and was informed by the man working (refused to disclose his name) that I "still had to pay" if I didnt like it. I have never once not paid for my food or drinks and always tip well above the 20% threshold. I stated as much, and asked why he would say that. His response was that "my people" sometimes don't pay. I'm confused as to what he means by that, but will not go back, and will let "my people" know to not go back as well. Terrible, terrible service. read more

I had already been to the one downtown a few times and really liked it but this one is different in some ways and same in others. I'll start with the different. The one downtown has a trendy feel like what you would expect. This one is more like......I don't know if there's a hipster trendy art deco but with a hint of cultural significance and touch of high end style in Mexico but if there is this is it. With the size and space they had to work with they created a marvel to behold.this atmosphere and ambiance makes me forget that I was in Lafayette across from Walmart. The sames, I don't eat beef or pork so that limits my options most places. So here I went with what I've gotten every time. The chicken nachos. Let's just say it was a superlative taste experience! My pallet was washed with flavor more increasingly with every chip filled morsel of delectable ingredients. AND THE SERVICE. Part of their Bidness strategy must be "the best costumer service you gon get on earth" I felt not only completely attended to but it was almost as if the waitress was my aunty. That's how at home they make you feel in there. At the end of the day all I really know is I am going back real soon. read more

As much as I wanted to like this place, I was quickly met with some things that I just cannot ignore. We went when it was not busy. It was clean and the ambiance was nice, until we were met with flies all around us. When sat, we were poured water which we enjoyed and I ordered an horchata. The horchata was in a cup that was even smaller than the water cup, which cost me a shocking $4. Ordered the Birria Cheesy Tacos for $14 and Enchiladas Suizas for $12. When they did not ask for any sides, I was concerned to charge that much and to not even get any rice and beans on the side is insane. In my opinion, not only that, but like someone else said, this is the only sit-down Mexican restaurant I've ever been to that did not offer complementary chips and salsa. So no sides, no chips or salsa, and we only got 3 small tacos and 3 small enchiladas for over $30? I feel absolutely robbed Will not be returning unless just to try their drinks. Please find any other locally owned authentic mexican cuisine anywhere else. This is no where near hitting the mark. read more
