WOW what a great experience. I've tried the best of the best in new haven pizza and this was amazing. You can taste the wood smoke. The crust is made super thin with organic flour and a unique combination of ingredients. I love Da Legna, but found my new favorite special meal place. Amazing craft brews; moist greens is a rye IPA, our new fave (15 bucks for a 4 pack of pint cans to take home!!!) Our waiter Cam was attentive and down to earth. It wasn't too busy when we were there so he took us on a tour with the couch comfy mini rooms upstairs and the Erector brewery area. What a personable caring server. Yes it was a little pricy but id rather pay a little more for a well made meal that has attention to detail. You even have to google some ingredients! Great way to have people try something different. The drink list is one to be envied! read more

I came here on a Friday night around 8pm to meet friends. They ordered a charcuterie board prior to my arrival. After getting my drink, a vodka gimlet straight up, the nosh arrived after we asked our server when it was coming. When a food runner dropped it off, my friends and I asked him to identify the meats and cheeses. He had no idea so we asked for our server because the meat and cheese ratio was off. He asked if they were a boy or girl........when he figured it out she came by and couldn't tell us either. Being semi knowledgeable about meat and cheese we ended up telling her based on taste but had to reorder Bc they were out of items. The food seemed okay but service was like bay of pigs (pun intended for the delicious Jamon iberico). Service was so mediocre and unapologetically slow we decided to leave. I'd give it another shot but probably on a weekday lunch when I called in sick for work so my time was leisure and the service might be more prompt when the crowd is more manageable for an obviously new restaurant. read more

Couldn't recommend this place less. It is absolutely freezing inside, the service is terrible! I sat at the bar for 20 min and was given water and never asked what I wanted to drink. Really crazy since there were three people behind the bar and only 5 other patrons. It's like they don't want to make money. I tried coming back again and once again really slow and terrible service and food and appetizers that were sub par to say the least. Small charcuterie board for $20, pizza was simple and lacking, the burger was just ok. Very limited beer selection and they were out of all the IPAs on draft but one. Nolo was a great experience, pizza was a solid 6.5 on the barstool scale if you compare it to modern and delegnas. But holy overpriced!!!! For two couples each with a drink and dinner ( two pizzas), one app, and two desserts a total of $188.00. Call me old fashioned but pizza used to be an affordable meal. And with modern down the street where a family can go have a meal for under $100 i don't think Nolo will be here too long. Get real with the prices. Also, had a great Nebbiolo for $11 a glass. Ugh. I hate to write a bad review, but we had an awful experience at NOLO this evening. I ordered a pasta, caccio e Pepe, I was excited but it was glorified Mac and cheese, nothing else to it! Not good. We also got the G-STAKE, which was oily and soggy. We didn't even want the leftovers. Our waitress was nice and attentive but even the verbiage used upon greeting was disheartening, as someone in the hospital business, I was put off hearing they were "PUSHING" certain items. We were very excited about trying this new New Haven restaurant. My husband made a reservation earlier in the day without a problem but when we arrived they seemed to have no record of it, nor were they able to accommodate us. The parking provided did not seem adequate nor was there a suggestion any alternative. Loved everything about my first visit to NOLO. The decor was very cool with a very relaxed vibe. Our server, Bella, could not have been nicer, more professional or more accommodating. The food was outstanding...I absolutely loved the meatball toast and my burger was easily the best burger I've had in a long time! My friends both had the cacio e pepe and each tried a different dessert and they loved their choices as well! One suggestion? Decaf cappuccino for folks like me who want a little something to finish off a great meal but don't want to be up all night! I loved NOLO and will be back soon! read more

Went to NOLO for the first time because of their meatless Monday's addition. While I'm not a vegetarian I love to try out restaurants with healthier meatless options. Loved the bbq carrot tacos and meatless Lasagne. The atmosphere was laid back and the sour beer I had made on site was excellent. Can't wait to go back for more veggie goodness and to try out some of their other menu options. read more

Nolo has a good vibe and a really cool building. We went with a party of 6 and had a great time. Things started well with decent appetizers but that is where it ended. Service is very mediocre and the main courses were a huge disappointment. A steak entree ordered medium came out five or more minutes after all five other entrees were served and it was more rare than rare. Of the other meals three were pastas that were served cold and two were snapper entrees that were at best average. I so want to like this place but the reality is it is just not good. Best to go and just have drinks and apps. read more

Amazing! Such good food! The service is great too! Peter was our server and he was beyond accommodating and just so pleasant! He is the personality that you want on the forefront of your business! My review is based on an incident that happened to me there. I was there on December 23 to purchase a gift card. I left my Louis Vuitton wristlet on the bar. I realized it when I got home and immediately called. I talked to an employee who said he would look around and get back to me. I knew the exact time because I had a receipt for the gift card. I waited and he didn't call me back. I called everyday and asked if they could check the camera to see if someone picked it up.I then spoke to a woman who said she was the manager and didn't know of the situation but assured me that she would talk to the owner, who is the only one who has access to the cameras and would call me back, again no call back. I called the next day and she gave me the run around. I did file a police report and gave them all of the information. I know my stuff is gone but the owner or manager should of at least given me a call back. It raises my suspicion that someone who works there picked it up and they could see exactly who it is. The best pizza and salads around. And NH has lots of competition! The lighting completely sucks though. This bare-bulb trend is not only unattractive but harsh. The other night the lights were so bright it was like prison lighting or some big box store. I said something and they dimmed them - but nothing will help the bare bulb thing. And from a branding perspective, NOLO and the train graphic is a mystery unless you ask. It would be nice if they had added a little paragraph on the menu about it so it makes sense. It seems the aesthetic goes into the food but not the place itself. The bar seats are super uncomfortable. BUT the tables offer intimacy for such a big place and lends itself to groups and bigger parties. All that said, you won't be disappointed by the food - and a great bar. read more

Amazing! The food & drinks were delicious and the vibe was very chill. I started with the beets and carrots and had the cod as my entree. Both dishes exceeded expectation. I had the Nolo burger. It was divine. One of, if not, the best burgers I've ever had. The smashed potato that came with it was also good. I had Nolo's whisky sour equivalent from their cocktail menu...it was ok. The pizza that my girl had was solid. It's definitely not New Haven style pizza and more of an italian pizza. (Smaller sized, local sourced ingredients, wood fired, thin crust) Very much like pizza I had in Napoli or Benevento. Kudos to them for that. Was the pizza worth the price tag? Considering I could go a mile down the road and get an equally delicious pie from Dalegna that's twice the size for a similar price...no. The atmosphere of the place is nice. Not too formal or informally set. Big fan of the booths, bar area and large train mural on the wall in the back. Bottom line: its expensive, but everything is locally sourced/ made from scratch and tastes great. Personally, I'd like to see more entrees and less pizza on the menu for the reason listed above .
