We had a private tour with Pierce and oh how much fun! He was so knowledgeable and the best thing ever! He had a device that I was able to wear that had a headphone and as he spoke in to his microphone it transmitted to my ear. Pierce was our guide a few weeks ago when we were visiting Savannah and he did absolutely phenomenal. First, it was raining and they had umbrellas for us to use, a huge perk we really appreciated, because walking around in the rain wouldn't have been so great but it made the day so much better. He gave us so much information, but didn't go overboard. Gave us lots of tips to what else to see and do while in Savannah, we learned a lot and it made us appreciate the city even more. When the tour was over he let us keep the umbrella for the rest of the day, we just had to return it to the office which is right by where our tour began- it was really appreciated. I'm not sure what to say in this review. I booked this on TripAdvisor by way of Viator or vice versa. I selected the historical walking tour of Savannah for the four of us on a day trip. We were coming from Hilton Head. We were instructed to meet at Reynolds's Square for a 1:00pm tour. Our tour guide was Marcia. She sought us out at the square. That was a good sign. Handed us an audio with a earpiece. Another good sign. When she collected the entire group together she started in on how Savannah came to be. Primarily due to James Oglethorpe. We spent the first 20 minutes of our two hour tour here. Standing and listening. Finally she starts walking and talking the entire time. However it's not even keel. She's drinking coffee so she's on a caffeine high. She's animated to the point of being over dramatic. She takes us from one square to another. She's got plenty of energy. But it's her delivery of information. Calm down. And because Savannah has an open alcohol policy where you can drink alcohol in a plastic cup in public she points out two pubs where we can purchase a drink while we're walking. With 20+ folks that eats into our time. She did compensate our tour by extending our time together but overall the tour can be improved or modified. The tour ended at Monterey Square. read more

Did 2 separate tours with Noble Jones when we were recently in Savannah, and they were both great! First we did the Savannah Saunter with Pierce. This was a great intro to the city on our first full day. Think of it as a general history and culture tour. As we were planning on walking around the city for the next few days, this worked well. As someone who grew up in Savannah and a history buff, Pierce was knowledgeable and personable. I was surprised how many Revolutionary war statues and stories there were. Overall this gave us a good lay of the land and a few restaurants to hit. On our last day we did the Civil War tour. A lot of other tours told the same history/stories while avoiding the topic of the Civil War--even though it's obviously big in the city's history--so we were excited for this. We had Keith as a guide, and he was superb. He even had a list of books he quoted throughout the tour with references to back up everything he aid. Shockingly my wife and I were the only ones to sign up, so we effectively got a private tour. It was probably our favorite part of the entire trip. Granted that these are just walking tours, but in each case we left leaving like we got a great deal. Savannah is a nice, walkable city, but being told the history enriches it so much more. 9/06/23 Pierce, our guide, was fantastic... a Walking, Talking Savannah "History Book"! Besides the great price, I preferred the 2 hour walking tour over the riding tour (a few blurbs in a few seconds at each location). Pierce took at least 5 minutes or more at each stop thoroughly covering the history as well as answering questions. At the end of our tour he provided additional visitation suggestions and advised that he would be available to answer any future questions which we may have. Took a Civil War tour with Keith. I was not a fan of this tour. I think we stopped at three places that were semi related to the Civil War. Keith was very repetitive and did not relate much on the tour to what we were seeing. Sitting in a square without moving we could have heard the information in 30 minutes. We booked a private tour with short notice. They were very accommodating. Mike was our amazing guide. He was lovely and I know my brain grew just talking/walking with him for 2 hours. We took a few other tours of houses and a cemetery. Nothing was close to this tour - we loved all the factual history, local insights and amazing architectural information. My only regret is we didn't do this our first day as Mike's suggestions were all wonderful... we just didn't have time for them all. I did a 2-hour tour with Keith and I had the best time. He is very knowledgeable and shares many interesting things about Savannah. It is a walking tour and the two hours fly by, so you won't get tired of walking. There are some stops in which you can seat down in the square benches (not Forrest Gump bench haha!). Highly interesting and informative. My thanks to former YELPers for letting me find this great tour. My last trip to Savannah, we had taken a number of good and interesting historic tours, including a ghost tour. This one exceeded all the rest. Our tour guide was Orlando and he did a wonderful job of adding history to the amazing characters and events that have made this place so incredible. We took the Deeper Into Midnight tour. Orlando was very knowledgeable about the truth and story regarding the events portrayed in the book/movie, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. We took a relaxed car trip from south Florida to Boston. On the way we stopped wherever something looked interesting. Of all our tours this was our favorite as we got not just history and descriptions, but also interesting anecdotes at almost every stop. Looking around a city is one thing, but knowing what you're looking at is another. We took the "Noble Stroll" private tour which allowed us to merge two of the standard tours (Savannah Saunter and Civil War History), but it seemed like a tour built around what we wanted to see and learn. Kelse was our guide and he made it entertainingly educational, weaving stories around the facts so what he told us was never dry. His enthusiasm for his work and the city were energizing. We took a trolley tour too, mainly to use as an initial orientation to (and transport around) the city, but it does not replace a tour such as this one. The trolley glosses over things and can't touch the knowledge Kelse had. Plus, walking instead of driving brings a new perspective of the city - a much better one! read more

Our host for the tour, Michael Mack, was so knowledgeable and interesting as he walked us around historic Savannah. I couldn't believe how many new and interesting local stories that I learned. But his robust knowledge of History wasn't some boring string of facts in isolation. I am a History teacher, hold a bachelor's in History from Rutgers College and have several Master's credits in History focusing on three main areas: Revolutionary America, Civil War Era and 20th Century America. Rather he wove historic themes and events over time as you stood in those same places he spoke about. The city squares we stood in came to life! He was extremely pleasant, passionate, thoughtful and informative. I felt he gave a very thorough explanation of Savannah and her history. I learned a lot, but never felt the information went over my head (I am no history buff). Our tour guide was Mike Mack. He shared lots of knowledge and we could ask questions whenever we wanted. The tour was suppose to be 2 hours but we were out for 2 and a half hours. The group was a comfortable size of 16. They limit their group sizes to 20 even though the cities limit per group is 30. Sometimes his voice was too soft to hear everything he was saying, but that was usually when a roving bar or motorcycle would go by. The extra $5 above other tour companies was worth having a smaller group. read more

My parents came into town, and we decided to do a Civil War walking tour. Noble Jones had been highly recommended to me so I wanted to give them a try. I am so glad I did. Kelse was our tour guide and he was absolutely fantastic. My dad knows a lot about the War Between the States, but he learned more about Savannah's particular role in the war. He kept waiting to see if Kelse messed up any of his dates, but he never did. Kelse would often quote journals from men that were involved which showed us he had really done his research and knew what he was talking about. The tour was a little over two hours and I loved that he didn't rush my mother who is a slightly slower walker. He's was funny, engaging and extremely knowledgeable. We lucked into a private tour (no one else signed up) so he was also a fountain of knowledge about Savannah's founding. Hired Noble Jones to lead my family of 6 on a private tour. This was the BEST tour my family has taken on any trip! our tour guide was extraordinarily knowledgeable, well spoken & enthusiastic about all things Savannah. He was very engaging & very prepared. Because we had a private tour we were able to combine both the Savannah history tour + Civil War tour. Our guide adapted the tour to be relevant to everyone in the group. He shared information which interested each of us. He answered every question we had. We had a mixed age group (ages 11-50) with mixed interests. This was the ideal way to be introduced to Savannah!!! My family members agree that this would be a great tour to do again now that we know a little more about Savannah and it would be awesome for people with much more historical knowledge too.
