As a prior home owner I am aware of what goes into and inspection and this was by far the worse inspection we have had. Although Matt was professional in discussions and personable, what he was hired to do was not what we received. The failures of this inspector has cost us thousands over the last 2 years. There is too much to write here but of all the issues the main 2 were that in the same week of moving into our home prior water damage that we noted and that we were assured by Matt looked to be repaired and no longer an issue soon proved wrong by the bathroom flooding immediately. Plumbers came out and stated the home inspector failed to do his job and should have filled the tub and run the shower longer than 2 minutes and he would have easily seen the issues. Both bathrooms had issues with pipes and plumbing that could be seen by the leaks coming from the handles in the tub faucets. The second major issue was that there were seams outside of the HVAC room in the ceiling, no insulation on ductwork and obviously leaking had happened and again we were assured the system type would not require much maintenance and should last for years. Water leaking soon became an issue from condensation. Careless and unprofessional and lacking basic skills. Use this inspector at your own risk. read more

My wife and myself were unable to attend the home inspection in person. Instead our realtor was present during the inspection. I've always heard that it is 50/50 toss-up on Inspectors, I truly believe that we got the better half for our Inspector. Matt did an exceptional job with the inspection. We hired Matt based on a referral from family members who Matt helped inspect their house a couple of months ago and we couldn't have been more impressed. Matt was responsive, competent, punctual, thorough, and collaborative. He went through the house with us, covering it from top to bottom, and numbering a number of defects that we hadn't caught despite our familiarity with real estate. Excellent service--he was able to come out the next day after I called and offered a very competitive price. And he did not try to upsell other tests (in fact, advised how I could do a radon test on my own more cheaply given the nature of the inspection). He was thorough and patient and explained everything very well. And he found alot of things that weren't readily visible. He had plenty of tools (such as to check the temperature of the walls and moisture level) which gave objective evidence of some problems. And the very detailed report came within a couple hours of the conclusion of the inspection. He provided a free book on home maintenance too as well as recommended contractors. At first, I would have given this company a five star review. However, as time went on, my opinion changed. My husband went to the home inspection, which I was unable to make it to, and filled me in afterwards. I had a pretty basic question for the home inspector so I gave him a call. No answer, Waited days and then weeks for a call back and nothing. In fact, he never called me back. However, if my husband called, he would get an answer immediately. It was rather peculiar to me. Next, after a few days of being in our new home, we noticed a crack right down our counter tops! Yes, we should have noticed it ourselves. However, I paid the home inspector to notice that. Not only was it a crack, it was installed improperly. I called the home inspector, left a message, and waited for a response. Nothing. Then my husband called and he IMMEDIATELY picked up. Interesting. The home inspector was very sketchy when we talked to him about the crack, he said to send him pictures so he could see what he could do (i.e. get it fixed through his insurance since it was his mistake). We sent him pictures, and waited to hear. Finally, he told us Sorry I didn't point it out but it's cosmetic so not my problem. How disheartening. We are young, first time homebuyers, who trusted this man. For all intense and purposes, we should have noticed the crack, but for goodness sake it is his job! We brought out multiple companies for quotes to fix it. All of whom said this crack had been there for many years. Now we are faced with $700-$900 to fix it or $2,000 to replace it. Disappointed is an understatement. read more

Matt has been our home inspector for two different houses, and was wonderful to work with on both occasions. On the first house, he spotted a roof truss issue and saved us over $15,000 in repairs.
