Dark little bar on magnolia with NO PARKING. Drinks are good nothing special or unique. They have a pool table in the back with $1 games which is nice. They have one big area with bar stools and then a more secluded areas that would be nice for big groups or big celebrations. Overall it's a little bar with average drinks and normal pricing. I've gone to this joint every night after a comedy show I used to perform in at a local theater. It's a great spot to hang with friends and meet new people. There's plenty to do! Happy Hour has some sweet deals for those of you who like sharing. The pool table is always fun. The jukebox is just the best feature. The couches and seating areas are fun to lounge around in. If you're a smoker, you'll always find people hanging around outside. For being a bar in such a humble location, I have to say that this place is poppin'! I was pretty confused with this place. Outside it just looks like a little dive bar, but inside it looks really nice! I have yet to be here on the weekend, but it's been pretty dead on weekdays unfortunately. They have a pretty good drink special, I believe it was $2 dollar PBR's and $4 for well drinks during happy hour which is until 10pm everyday and I had a great time while I was there to. They have a pool table in the side room, a really cool looking jukebox with a TON of music to choose from and really nice bartenders. It has a very lounge like feel and compared to the other dive bars in the NoHo area this is probably one of the better ones to be at. They also have really easy street parking which is a plus. The bar is cool, the lounge although no one was there I imagine it's really nice when filled and it's a cool little place I want to go to more often! read more

I normally don't do reviews on bars or clubs since every night can be different because of promoters and sporting events but figured I would do a review on the local spot. I've been here twice around 11:00 and it wasn't busy either time (Fri and Sun). The place is pretty small with three areas. The main bar room with a jukebox. A side room with a few comfortable sitting areas, and a small room with a pool table. The drinks are cheap compared to Hollywierd, $8-$14 for two drink. However, they only have two beers on tap, that was a bummer. I've been here with my friends and we didn't think much of the place but I do think this would be a cool spot for a date. I've been here a few times before and had a good time. Bartenders are friendly. Drink selection isn't just limited to IPA's. I've been here for karaoke a few times and had and had good time. Tonight was bad though. I signed up and was set to go up after 4 people. The guy before me did Bohemian Rhapsody and he sang the whole thing. Some places edit you if the songs are long, so that's a good song. I knew I was next and went up. The KJ was playing some music at the break and my song came up without a segue way. It just started and placed me just before the chorus. I told the KJ he was dropping me in the middle and asked to start at the beginning. I've sand this at this bat before without a problem so I know they have the full version. He told me this was beginning and bet me a hundred dollars he was right. I looked up the lyrics on my phone and showed them to him. He said I was wrong and the whole bar knew I was wrong and I either sing the song that was now almost over or get off his stage. Word of advice: Tip him after your sing because there's no guarantee he's going to be cool with you. The other girl, I think her name is Emily, is cool at least. So i downloaded the yelp app solely to leave this review: that's how much tonight bothered me. I have never left a negative review anywhere because I'm generally unconcerned and have better things to do with my time - but tonight was absurd. Fire your door guy. I was recording at ikon studios down the street and was in a very good mood afterwards. I used to live less than a block from the bar and would frequent it regularly for about 3 years. I also manage a restaurant down the street and eventually got to know the regulars. Always had a nice, low key time. I decided to pop in for old times sake. Immediately hit it off with some patrons playing pool and ordered one drink - i was completely sober the whole time. After about half an hour i entertained myself by doodling on the chalkboard - something I've done literally every time I've been there.not impeding the entire half of the board with names on it (there were three listed, plenty of room) - affectiing no one and nothing. Good times. The bouncer that looks both like a stunt double for the smash mouth front man as well as a nu-metal groupie approached me.now I'm a very open minded guy and if he had walked up and said "hey man I'm sorry but thats not allowed" idve said "my bad I'll erase it." i guess he thought that i wad more drunk than i was (not at all) or wanted some action, but he ended up letting me know multiple times how badly he could physically fuck me up while using the word "esoteric" totally wrong several times. Not interested in getting arrested or giving him the satisfaction of getting a rise out of me, i never returned the aggression. I did let him know i thought he was on a power trip since (1) this has never been an issue before (2) I was bothering no one (3) i always erase it anyway. He let me know that i wouldn't be able to stop him if he attacked me. I tried to speak to him outside to reconcile things, which began with him "saying his piece" first - ten minutes of verbal assault that ended with him letting me know that he would "drop me on my fucking head." i actually listened quietly. when i asked why he was continually bringing up unprovoked physical threats he said it was because he was "being pragmatic." I left on my own accord, genuinely not interested in starting any shit while he called me a prick. What an ass. What a big aggressive ass. This guy has control issues and is looking to start shit. This good night turned into one big aggravating ordeal. I wish everyone the best, but I'll definitely not be returning. Once again, if i had been told "sorry man, that's not allowed" i would have said "word, my bad." if i was drunk I'd be in jail. In an up and coming part of North Hollywood, No Bar was a pleasant surprise. Doesn't open until 6pm but if you're looking for a late happy hour (6-9pm), here it is. Not sure why this is listed as a Dive Bar because it's far from it. Beautifully designed, dimly lit and a great, diverse crowd, I'll go back again when I'm in town. The bartender Melanie is well versed and knowledgeable about the area. If I had to say anything that was a con was that they don't sell any food. But if you ate at another happy hour somewhere else before coming here, then you should be aiight. ;-) read more

I just moved to Noho from Boston. My expectations were on par with that. I was Caught VERY off guard when I ordered 4 captain and cokes and my bill was 75 dollars. Um? I've clubbed in Vegas and NYC and I was charged nothing close to that per drink (divide by 4). The bartender says that's the price for a drink in a pint glass. My man (and all my best friends if I'm being honest) will tell you this is one of my favorite bars. I'm always suggesting we meet up with our friends here. They've got a ton of seating room which is very important to us because when we go out we tend to invite my cousins AND our best friends. I've gone here in and off for a number of years and over time I've realized it is one of the most comfortable, relaxed and stylish "neighborhood bars" I can think of. They've recently done some slight remodeling touches and it looks great! Nice dive bar with friendly bartender (who remembered us even though we've only been twice). Two for one until 9pm nightly? Cannot beat it. They have an internet connected jukebox so we were able to play the new Kendrick, what else can we ask for? I will add that we like to go when the bar is largely empty so everything is always just about as tidy as you'd except and we are never neglected. I have come across what is perhaps the most valuable information one could get their hands on Now, I'm not at liberty to be discussing such priveleged information, but I've stumbled upon the coolest bar in the San Fernando Valley. On that assumption alone, I feel that it is my civic duty to provide for you the details of my honored patronage at the No Bar. I'll lay off the cool act for a second -- however much this may dissapoint my mentor, Arthur Fonzarelli -- just so that I could say that I secretly want to make this place my go-to hangout. Everybody wants to claim something as theirs -- whether it be "their coffeeshop," or "my dry cleaner" or even "my Sherona." I want to make the No Bar "my bar." From the moment I first stepped in, I had already absobed the dimly-lit ambiance that immediately matched my pensive nature, and found it catering to my visual affinity for aesthetic detail. With the jukebox descended from heaven, providing the aural ecstasy for a drunken background, it easily assures one of a good time, irrespective of one's alcoholic intake. I can certainly appreciate Oingo Boingo playing right before a Social D. (nobody says the word "Distortion anymore") song, especially when Bell Biv DeVoe is playing a few songs later. I'm always up for some of that eclectic magic, my friends. Not that I was able to move beyond the two empty seats at the bar, my date and I immediately found upon entering, but after long, my eyesight was able to procure at least some mental snapshots of the bar's layout. Enter the No Bar, and to your far right, you have the semi-enclosed pool room. Although lone-standing, the pool table does take dollar bills so that you don't have to constantly get change to play. To that room's left, you have, what I'd like to imagine in my head as, the courvousier lounge. When I caught my glimpse, I noticed comfortable looking couches lining the walls. Who knows what they were actually drinking in there, though. Whatever it was, it looked like a separate enclave where you could have your posse's shenanigans and semi-closed off affairs to yourself. The bartender, although not a cocktail artist at one's best or worst, made some satisfying drinks -- not terribly stiff, but you do start to feel something after your second drink. Drinks for the occasion? Jack and Coke, Vanilla Vodka and OJ, and Jameson and Ginger Ale. All served well, served fast, and delivered to our hands at roughly $6 per drink. Being up at the bar, I noticed our bartender was pretty interactive with the bar-goers. It's only good when they're interesting and void of crotchety attitudes, of course. However, this guy seemed pretty cool, and deemed himself worthy of being a bartender at "my bar." The interior reminded me of a mini-Seven Grand, but looking like it may have been created on a budget of more like two grand. And that's alright. At the core of this lounge bar, is the heart of a dive bar. Perhaps not on cosmetic appearances, but as far as warmth and comfort goes. It seemed like you could have a conversation with just about anyone in here without any of them cocking or furrowing a brow. The only thing knocking this bar one star is their selection of beer, which wasn't as varied as I've seen at my other favorite bars. Couple that with no drink specials (at least the week night I was there) and it falls just slightly short of perfection. But those are simply minor grievances that I can overlook at "my bar." I don't know how to explain it, but this place fits like a glove... kind of like the white, Michael Jackson-inspired glove I've been missing since Christmas of '88, so the feeling feels just right. My deep brown Fonzi jacket, tailored-fit for an 8 year old, just never seemed the same without it. Yeah, you could say I was a cool kid. One final note. Early. And no that isn't a Kalifornia reference. I simply mean, go early to this bar. Came here for technically the second time last night after spending all of 2 minutes here the first time since my friend gave me the wrong bar name to meet him at. Last night however, we stayed, drank, conversed and enjoyed an after work cocktail that turned into 2 lovely hours of catchin up. :) The place is pretty cool. It's certainly not a dive in the true dive sense though. Meaning, there aren't any old men passed out on the bar with bourbon still clenched in their hand. The bartender isn't an 80 year old man or a burned out chain smokin broad who looks at you funny if you ask for a lime in your Belvedere n soda. In fact, it's definitely not a dive, because a real dive wouldn't carry Belvedere. You would get a well vodka and you would like it or leave. Ahh, how I love THOSE bars :) What No Bar is though, is a cool little neighborhood joint, with new comfy stools, flattering dim lighting, a nice approachable door guy (very important), a hot tatted up bartendress and a young crowd that seems to be experiencing their first "dive bar" experience. It was cute. I would definitely go back here again and on the early side, as by 10pm, the youngins started rolling in and the vibe of the place definitely changed. Not that that is bad, but I am an old fart now at 34 and well, I just want to drink my drink with my people and not have to try too hard to seem cool. I save that task for the young. I was very excited to visit NoBar for the first time and celebrate my friends birthday who was visiting from out of town. We went with a group of 6 women. Unfortunately, within minutes our experience was ruined. We were mistreated and discriminated against and we will never go to this place again. Here is the story: My friend who was celebrating her birthday has a neurological condition called ataxia, which, among other things, causes severe balance issues. Theopolis, the bouncer who was working the evening of October 3, checked her identification and upon seeing her lose her balance, immediately asked if she was intoxicated. She tried to explain that she is not drunk and inform him of her condition, and the bouncer got very defensive and very aggressive quickly. Upon seeing the situation, I tried asking the bouncer directly what the problem was in a civil tone, but the bouncer very quickly raised his voice and was on the verge of yelling. When he began to raise his voice, I asked him why he was doing so, which apparently made him quite defensive and the situation escalated very fast.Unfortunately, he continued to yell, so I told the rest of my party that we need to leave after receiving such deplorable treatment and especially after we were simply trying to explain why she was "off balance". Needless to say, I was quite shaken; I have never been treated like that and spoken to like that by a total stranger. Especially considering I was a customer, I was completely shocked that I was yelled at and spoken to like I was beneath this person. Regrettably, this situation did not end there. Another member of our party, tried calmly speaking to Theopolis and explaining the situation (including the medical condition), and he agreed to let us in. Though I wanted nothing to do with the bar at that time, I went in with the rest of my party and had another heated exchange with the bouncer. I told him that he should treat customers better and I wish to be spoken to like a human being instead of being yelled at and treated in a hostile manner, and then he again quickly began yelling and also used profanity. To be treated in such a deplorable manner is unthinkable and incomprehensible, especially considering this was a simple situation that we tried discussing like rational human beings. However, he chose to yell, curse, and use profanity like we were second-class human beings. One person in our group requested to speak with the manager (Luke). Luke opted to speak with Theopolis first, but reluctantly agreed to speak with me and my party outside of the bar. Prior to him speaking with our group, he was laughing with the bouncer like our concerns was a joke which was unacceptable. While the treatment from Luke was not even better, he at least listened to the situation. However, he only continued to defend his employee's behavior and explained multiple times that 99% of the time he has to deal with individuals who are drunk and do not have a disability or medical condition and that he was simply doing his job.No member of our party was questioning why he had to ask if she was drunk. We understand that it his part of his job. The issue I have was the discrimination my friend received and the complete disregard for the fact that she has a legitimate medical condition. In addition, the fact that he was aggressive, hostile, and argumentative to me and yelled and used profanity was deplorable, shocking, and disgusting To be treated in such a disgraceful manner by a total stranger was something I will likely never recover from. Even though the manager's treatment was not great either, he tried to make amends and bought my party a complimentary shot and several complimentary jukebox selections. While we appreciate that he tried to provide us with some recompense and tried to offer some semblance of an apology (although most of what he was doing was defending Theopolis's behavior). I was exceptionally disappointed in the disgusting treatment we received at this establishment after my friend was discriminated against for having a medical condition. read more

This was definitely my favorite bar on the valley bar crawl circuit. Nice decor, youngish crowd, and INCREDIBLE juke box. The drinks were a little more than the other valley bars we went to, but the well vodka was superior. I kept on thinking the bartender gave me tonic instead of soda because the drink was sweet. SWEET. In a good way. When we got into the bar we saw that FSN was on. One of my friends I was with and I are both a little Olympics obsessed. We left another bar that had the Olympics on and we were both crushed when we saw a lack of connected rings in the lower right of the screen. We whispered a little and finally I went up and asked, "Um, is it OK if you put on the Olympics." "That's fine. Were you trying to decide if you should ask or not? My friend said this place had the best happy hour in town, so we came here and... it was closed. At 7pm on a Saturday? Why?? So, we left. But then we came back. Good call because it's hard to beat 2-for-1 drinks while enjoying endless games of pool. We got lucky in that very few people were inside, and nobody wanted the table, so we were able to play a few uninterrupted games while enjoying our multitude of drinks. Nice atmosphere in here, too. Most who drink have an appreciation for cheap booze. 2 for 1 tell tale ale's is a pretty good deal for a pretty delicious brew, but that doesn't make up for the attitude i got from the bartender and doorman. I went to celebrate a buddy's birthday and as I waited at the bar for my drink to be given to me, the blond dude bartender looked at me quizzically and audibly asked his female counterpart is she was "serving this twelve year old". indeed she was but come on, dude. I'm giving you money for f**k's sake, need you be so casually disrespectful to a paying customer? then when i stepped outside to catch up with my girlfriend the doorman proceed to talk to the both of us about how goofy looking he thought i was and how generally awful anyone younger than him was. so yeah, it's divey. they have pool and typical music. nothing out of the ordinary here, aside from the willingness to be rude. The scene was just OK like too many other dive bars way too many guys No one stupid or loud everyone carried themselves and at a Cool Drunk State, which keeps you from looking over your shoulder. I went back to this bar with a friend who came in from Scotland. She's in her early 20's, which btw...I gotta keep telling myself NOT to hang out with girls under 30. We really abused the two-fer special. That night, you could get two drinks for the price of one. Man, she got crunked FAST. And angry. Don't go drinking with Scottish people, you are NOT on their level...EVER. Anyway, she was enamored with bartender. As if I A) cared B) the fuck you telling me for, I'm a dude. If NoHo is North Hollywood, then NoBar is North Barstow? Regardless of what Bar means, No means no. As in, no service, no class, and no good. The Vintage Bar Group owns NoBar. I've been to The Woods which was also owned by VBG and wasn't impressed. Consequently, I was skeptical about coming to NoBar and this will be the last VBG bar I'm visiting. NoBar is better than The Woods, but not by much. The place smells like a strip club. The staff was unwelcoming. The bottles featured flavored vodkas with a weak selection of everything else. The $10 specialty cocktails ranged from the one-dimensional Irish Manhattan to the overly sweet Cherry Old Fashioned. read more

They have an amazing jukebox selection (and no, there is no Country on it) knowledgeable and friendly bartenders (not bad on the eyes either) and great specialty drinks. It's dark so if you wanna sneak off to a corner to have a private moment with a date, you can... just don't dry hump or us regulars will never let you live it down. It's pretty low key during the week, so it's a great place to meet up with friends after work (they have happy hour til 10pm!). Friday and Saturday it gets pretty busy with lots of people watching to be had... An insider's tip.. head toward the back room, it's usually always less crowded and you won't be blocking the entrance, also there's a pool room! I wasn't sure what to expect when we parked in front of a three bedroom house. We walked half a block and into the entrance of No Bar. The doorman was cool and let us in after flashing some I.D.. The decor and the atmosphere were very "well to do". I almost felt under-dressed. The lighting was dim, the crowd was talkative, and the first round of drinks were good. After some discussion about the vodka in the clear skull bottle, we asked our bartender if we could conduct a "taster's choice" situation. He was very accomadating and kudos to him. We had to pay, but he split shots like a pro! Grey Goose won, but it was close!! I also realized that there well liwuors are not cheap... They use decent brands in their well! The pool table was a dollar a game, but after all the shots, I only made it through one game. The bar started to pick up around eleven. The music was good, they have a jukebox, that I promise to check out the next time I head over there. The crowd was a mix. A mix of cool kids and what I assumed where young business folks.
