I need my apartment painted and called Ray for an estimate. I wasn't expecting to get a same day appointment, but he literally drove all the way from O'hare to the Northside of the city to give me a quote the same day. That is definitely what I call customer satisfaction, and especially with it being on a Sunday. He is very passionate about his work and has a great eye for detail. His work is exceptional, and I highly recommend his services! read more

Ray is incredible! He does phenomenal work for an unbeatable price! I had painted my kitchen and living room a few years back and really messed it up! Ray was able to make it look like that never happened. :) The lines are clean and the color is absolutely perfect. I cannot recommend Ray enough! He is efficient and quick and takes his work very seriously. One day after he has completed the job he called to see if I liked it and if there was anything that needed to be touched up. Of course it was perfect and needed nothing done to it! He's just that good! :) I would give him more stars if I were able to! You can't go wrong with Ray! read more

Super responsive and easy to schedule. Ray did a great job repairing some wall damage left by a previous tenant and painting the wall. He communicated throughout the day as he was doing the work. The wall is as good as new and I'm very happy with the work. read more

Ray did a terrific job with painting and doing various touch-ups throughout my place. He is very responsive and takes time to send updates each step of the way. Reasonably priced with no hidden fees/costs (just like his business name suggests). I would highly recommend to others for all your painting needs!! read more

Ray explained that he was in the hospital and refunded our money. We wish him well.

Ray was fantastic throughout our whole project. He got back to me immediately on a Saturday and came the next morning to provide an estimate to paint a room and built-in book shelf. Ray was timely with all arrivals--sending a text or email to give me a heads up. He also took time to ensure he had all VOC-free products given we had a child in the house and a baby on the way. Ray scheduled the work quickly, and worked around our work schedules. The final result was perfect--the room and shelves are beautiful. I'd highly recommend Ray for any project! read more

Ray was great! We called him on a Saturday and he was able to complete our project by the following Monday. Very nice guy, did excellent work and charged what I thought was a very fair price. Would definitely recommend. read more

Ray was wonderful to work with! He gave us a quote and had all the painting done we requested within one week! I couldn't believe how soon he was available! We had an entire guest room painted and all the ceilings throughout our house. Ray and his team member took great care in covering and protecting our belongings. They even took pictures of how they covered the furniture when we were not home. I would definitely use him again! read more

I highly recommend Ray! I had him paint a kitchen, dining room, and bedroom in a vintage condo. Before starting, he answered my questions and explained clearly the work he was going to do. All along the way, he responded to my concerns and was totally reasonable and flexible about special requests. Great attention to detail and he works to the highest standards, even redoing some of his work when it doesn't meet his impeccable standards. Again, highly recommended. I would hire him again any time. read more

Outstanding work done by Ray and Danny! Ray was extremely responsive when I reached out to him for a quote and visited at a time that was convenient for me. The quote he gave me was by far the most affordable and when chatting with him that day, you could feel the confidence he had in himself and the pride that he felt for his work. Ray and his team finished his work within the estimated time that was quoted. He was very meticulous about keeping my belongings clean and making sure no paint went where it was unwanted. He did an amazing job patching all the holes in the drywall and took great care sanding down everything before painting. I can't even tell where the botched drywall was before. The actual paint job he did was second to none. All of the paint on the walls is smooth, there's no spillover onto any of the other surfaces. Ray painted my living room area (which included the kitchen), a closet, and two bathrooms. He also touched up the trim, baseboards, window sills and doors. He went above and beyond here, and it really feels great entering my home now because everything looks so crisp and welcoming. Ray's 100% the definition of a self made man: he takes a lot of pride in his work, doesn't cut corners, and makes sure that the work done is satisfactory to both his client and himself. I'll be recommending him to all of my friends, and would definitely reach out to him with all my painting needs. read more

Recently called to have existing shelving removed from three closets, then have walls patched/repaired, and then painted. Ray was eager to start and wanted to come by asap to pick up a 50% deposit so that he could start the next day. His eagerness to pick up such a large deposit should have been our first clue. We emptied the contents of three closets into our living room. When he gets here he looks at the shelves and points out the supports are glued to the walls. He said he can't do this because he doesn't have the correct tools. Huh? A contractor doesn't have tools??? As a result our house has been in chaos for two weeks while we booked a reputable painter. I think it's also worth pointing out that many of his recent 5-star reviews are from all over the country (San Fran, San Diego, Minneapolis, Overland Park KS). Since it seems unlikely that a painter is traveling around the entire country for work, I have to question the validity of these reviews. There is something very off here. Book at your own risk. read more

Ray worked in our home for more than a week on the entire first floor of our condo. Every day he was professional, communicative, friendly, flexible to our needs, and so easy to work with. He gladly helped with all sorts of minor details that may have annoyed other painters, such as last minute requests about fixtures, etc. There was a lot of construction chaos while he was here, and he was a calm and welcome presence. We truly appreciate his hard work, honesty and sense of humor. Would recommend, and will hire him again soon to complete the rest of our home. Thanks, Ray! read more

Ray is the absolute best! He is meticulous, thorough and clearly takes great pride in what he does. I hired a Ray to paint our entire office and not only did he get it done in three days, but was able to fix some patches left behind by our contractor and make our office look brand new. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for a quality painter you can trust! read more

My husband and I recently contacted No Games Painter to quote us on a job to quickly paint a couple of walls in our house. Ray was extremely responsive and was able to come over the same evening to give us a quote and start the job within the week. We moved forward with Ray and were so impressed with his work that we asked him to come back and do another small job that we hadn't originally planned on. Ray is friendly, efficient, passionate, and skilled at his work. Before completing the job, Ray walked us through his work to ensure that we were happy with the final product, which we were! Ray will be doing all of our future painting projects. read more

I called Ray because of all the great Yelp reviews. He was very professional and flexible with our schedule. He was able to squeeze us in 2 days after my initial phone call and worked well with our schedules when we were out of town for the day. When we got back, we were very disappointed in the state our house was left in. There was paint splatter all over our wood floors, mirrors and cabinets. There was dried paint and dirty brushes in both our bath tub and kitchen sink. It tooks us hours to clean up the mess. And worst of all, there was a serious lack of attention to detail in the corners and edges of the walls. read more

I have been thinking about what I wanted to say about Ray for a long time now. And to be completely honest, there is nothing in a YELP review that will even get close to meeting that bar. Not only does he do great work but he is also one of the nicest people that I have ever worked with. He is kind, extremely honest and trustworthy and keeps to his word. I accidentally left my wallet at my condo and had ZERO worry the entire day because I knew how good of a person Ray is. He charges by hour and trust me when I say that he works as hard as he can for that hour. During a hot day, he even left at noon because he didn't want to wait around and get paid while the paint dried and he did nothing.....something that many people wouldn't hesitate to do. He continues to follow up with me to make sure that I am completely satisfied and offers to come back if there are any slight touch ups needed. The real ingredient in his painting is the love and care that he puts into his work. And it really shows. However, more than the actual job, I can not be more excited about the friend that I have made in the process. Give him a call! You won't regret it! read more

What a nightmare. One year ago, I reached out to Ray because I was planning to move to the Northside of Chicago. The Ray I dealt with at that time was pleasant, knowledgable and friendly. Unfortunately, I canceled due to never moving and an unexpected tragedy in my family. Fast forward to this year -- Because I remember the friendly customer service from Ray, I made sure I sought him out for a paint job as I will be moving this time. What a disappointment. I called Ray on Tuesday to set up and get a rough estimate. He immediately mentions that he just started back on the job that day, as he had been off due to knee surgery. He also mentions immediately how he needs jobs ASAP. Given that I caught him at this time, I thought "Ok, just my luck. This will work out easily". WRONG. Ray interrupts me several times during our conversation to let me know he needs to get back to work. That HE NEEDS WORKS (his emphasis). Well, okay, I'm trying to give you work, I think. Finally when I can get a word in edgewise, I tell him what I need painted. But that he can't come by until Thursday as that's when I will get the keys to the new place. He's okay with that and agrees for me to call him between 10 and noon. Thursday morning (8/22) he calls me at 10:13 am. Leaves a message, which I missed but called him right back. First off, as I'm explaining I am running a bit behind he immediately interrupts me and corrects me, thinking that I accidentally called the rental office. When I clarify that I know whom I am speaking to, he tells me he can't do the job for me, as he took another job. Why --- He needs the work. Sigh. And he keeps telling me that he called me the night before (he did not) and that I had asked him to call me (I did not). After taking a moment to calm down, I text him to let him know that I felt this was really unprofessional and due to him probably being in dire financial straits. He comes back basically saying that he's a married and honest man. and that he treats everyone the same. I get the same excuse --" I just came back from having a knee surgery done n I would have loved 2 work 4 U but yes I did need 2 look at any work needed but I seen a job and they booked me. I take pride in every part of my day 2 treat people with respect. I'm sorry. " Honestly, it really left me confused and ticked off. How was I suppose to book someone for a job I had no estimate for and wasn't given one? And given that I told Ray I wanted to hire him the 26th, and probably earlier had he given me an estimate, what was I suppose to do?!?! I would think twice about working with Ray. Especially if he tells you he needs the work several times. You might end up being overlooked because you didn't give him work ASAP. read more

Ray did some excellent work for us a while back. Great pricing, excellent communication, and very flexible. He made touching up and repainting a rental condo as easy as it could get. He pointed out a number of areas that tenants and agents failed to notice, and we were able to discuss various solutions to get the place fixed up. Very happy with his work, I will definitely be reaching out again when the need arises. read more

I can't tell you how good Ray is without telling you about how bad my place was. I have the painting skills and palette of a 5 year old. Paint on adjacent walls, yep. Paint on the ceiling and caulking, double check. Ray came in and not only fixed all of that, he took care of issues other painters would have politely skipped over without a hefty fee. I had a crack - valley, actually - that ran all the way down my bedroom wall. He caulked that up, sanded it down and you can't tell it was there. I also made a poor color choice for Ray. He sent regular photo updates. I decided I really hated it and Ray was nice enough to spend his day off painting over it. That saved me big time as I did not need my room to look like a bird's egg. He could have easily walked away and made me live with it until he was available again - and rightly so, as I screwed up. The place now looks amazing. Ray came in at almost half the price of other highly rated painters on here. He did so much more for an amazing price. Along with that comes professionalism, an attention to detail, and a great pride in his work. You can probably see from my reviews, which there are almost none, that I am usually too lazy to write a review. Let that be another testament as to how pleased I am with Ray and his work product! read more

We found Ray on Yelp and hired him to paint 3 rooms in our new condo and the results are absolutely amazing. To say that he is a perfectionist is an understatement! He took his time taping, patching existing holes and imperfections, and painting multiple coats in each room, and he worked quickly and efficiently. The lines are super clean and color is smooth and even. He even insisted on repainting a room that my husband had done earlier just because it was not up to his standards! As a bonus, Ray is just a really friendly and nice guy. We'll definitely look to him again for all our future painting needs. Thanks, Ray! read more

We closed on our first condo last week and knew the first order of business was laying down some fresh paint to cover up the dated yellow paint on the walls and lighten up the place. We entertained doing it ourselves to save some money but are sooo glad we decided to go with No Games Painter. Ray was easily accessible by phone (takes calls until midnight) and was able to swing by the condo the day we closed to give us an estimate. Ray gave quotes on each room as well as paint and supplies (uses Benjamin Moore Ben line paints) which all were fairly priced and estimated 3-4 days for our two bed two bath (1300 sq ft) unit. We were a little unsure of which gray we wanted to go with so Ray suggested a couple of popular options, and we ended up going with one of them (Revere Pewter). Ray and his partner started a couple days later and finished within three days. Throughout the process, Ray was very communicative and kept us updated on where the work was at each day. I was in and out of the condo regularly moving boxes and Ray and his partner were always hard at work every time I walked through the door. The condo looks amazing now and it is quite evident that Ray is a master of his craft. He even pointed out some fingerprint/splash marks on our master bathroom ceiling and painted it for us at no additional charge and offered to come back and touch up the walls once we are done moving everything in which was the icing on the cake for an overall great experience. We would highly recommend Ray to anyone looking for a high-quality paint job at a fair price and will definitely be sure to reach back out to him for any future work down the road! Thanks, Ray! read more

Simply put, Ray is awesome. Needed some emergency paint work done and my previous painters were terrible. Found Ray a/k/a No Games Painter through Google and called him. He came over that evening and said, "Here, I'll save you some money," and then told me how to do the touch-up work myself and wrote down everything I would need. Being that I wasn't confident in my ability to do the job correctly, I told Ray I needed him to take the job. He came back the following day and got to work. He ended up going above and beyond the call of duty, as the touch-up paint I bought didn't match the original so he had to repaint my entire living room. Despite this, he didn't ask for a single extra cent, but I voluntarily gave him more money because of all the additional work he did. He has an amazing work ethic, is dependable, accessible, and has a ton of painting expertise (he shook a can of paint I had in my closet and told me the paint was most likely no good...we flipped the lid and indeed it was rusted). To top it off, we're both Fleetwood Mac fans :) Thanks Ray!! read more

My experience with Ray was nothing but exceptional. I needed a couple of rooms painted in a hurry since my realtor wanted to show my place in a week. I called Ray, he came out the same day for an estimate. We set up the price, and the date. He and his partner knocked it out in a day. He takes Chase QuickPay which made it even easier to just shoot him the money and be done. The work quality is high, and Ray took care of our property very well. All I had to do was set out a key in the lock box for him and I came home to a job well done. Ray is the real deal, and a very trustworthy contractor. read more

We had a good experience all the way through from the estimate to finishing the job. Ray was on time for the estimate appointment and sent us an estimate in a day. The painters were on time every day. You never know what you are going to get when you take wallpaper off, one room had two layers. They patched and sanded all the rough spots in the drywall and it was better than new. Took a lot of care in taping things off and all the paint lines are sharp. The front door looks like new. We would have them come back again. read more

Ray and Randy were awesome! Ray responded to my call and scheduled a time the next day to do the quote. His quote was very reasonable and we scheduled a day the following week. They showed up on time and did the work in a professional manner. Everything got covered in plastic and they even cleaned up and vacuumed afterwards. Everything looks great! My master bedroom ceiling had water damage from the roof (we live on the top floor) and when Ray was done with it, you couldn't tell there was anything wrong with it! He did some other work and it all looks good. My home feels like new again. I cannot recommend No Games Painter enough! read more

Called for a quote on a complete interior paint job of a 2 bed/2 bath condo and Ray drove into the city within a few hours to complete it. After a brief look around and answering a few questions, Ray was honest with me that given the detail of the trim/wainscoting, size of the place and my timeline, it was unlikely that he (a one man show) would be able to do it justice and that I would likely need an entire crew to complete the job quickly. I appreciated his honesty-no BS, no false promises. He then referred me to a company that he trusts with a crew who could get it done within my timeline. No obligation on my part. Despite not using him for this particular job, the interaction and his honesty left a good impression. read more

So I just moved into an appartment that was a disgusting blue color and I woke up this morning and remmebered that I need to paint it before all my furniture arrives or else it will be an even bigger pain. I called Ray at 7 am and he came over within 45 minutes and had the room painted within 3 hours perfectly. All while being respectfull and VERY understanding of my buildings dumb rules (aka no contractors on weekends and blah blah blah). Plus there were no hidden fees. He gave me a straight price and stuck to it even though he had to do an extra coat of paint cause that gross blue just wouldn't go away. read more

I've owned more than 10 houses, had work done in all of them and Ray is BY FAR the best painter I've ever used! He came the same day I called him (which by the way, was on a Saturday) to provide a very reasonable estimate and started the job the next day. The work performed was impeccable and Ray himself is a pleasure to work with. He takes tremendous pride in his work, takes great care in prepping and performed his work with great attention to detail and precision. We had 3 rooms painted and couldn't be happier with the job. He will absolutely be my first call anytime I need paint work done and highly recommend him to anyone needing painting in their home. No Games = #bestpainterever! Thanks Ray! read more

We hired Ray recently to paint our entire condo before we put it on the market to sell. Ray was very easy to work with and did a great job painting our condo. His quote was about 4,000 below our previous bid! He told us up front he "plays no games". We got a great price and his craftsman ship was excellent. He also called us everyday with pictures and updates on how the place was coming along. Ray even offered to come back and fix any marks made by the flooring company. He is a perfectionist, which is a great trait to have if you're a painter! He also fixed some water damage in our closet and in a couple of the rooms. You can't even tell now. This is the second time we hired Ray to paint. This time we had him paint our office and bedroom and we loved the outcome. Ray is thoughtful, very considerate and kind. He came over a week before for the estimate, which was fair and exactly what we hoped to pay. He gave us the option to buy the paint ourselves or have him pick it up. We opted to buy it ourselves at the Benjamin Moore on Clark. He did a remarkable job and even touched up parts of a wall that needed some extra help (not included in the quote). We are very grateful for having Ray in our lives! He's a good man and cares a ton about his customers. read more

Ray was fantastic - very competitive prices and great attention to detail. He painted my two bedroom condo and even covered up paint splatters from the previous owners who had done a terrible job painting the unit on their own.
