There were more kids than adults. These kids continously kept throwing themselves off the ledges and splashing the adults that were in the pool, including myself. I understand it's a pool, but 1) why are they jumping literally on me 2) I wear contacts and that chlorine water burns 3) the pool is large enough where you should NOT be splashing on people. 4) Its dangerous. The parents did not correct this behavior and neither did the lifeguards. The pool's lining was literally floating in the water and under my feet as I swam or walked in the water. This is unacceptable. I posted pics of the lifeguards picking this crap up. Very disappointed with my experience and I don't expect to return.

I just enrolled my 16 month old in swim lessons and we had tried other similar free standing programs in the area. So far, Big Blue is definitely the best. What I like - it is very clean. Other pools my daughter came away itching all day - not here. They are about safety and FUN! I have no aspirations for my daughter to be doing butterfly in a year. I want her to develop her own love of the water and learn while doing so. When I taught 2-3 year olds how to swim so they could do laps, we always played with toys. They have a similar philosophy here - toys and songs can get kids moving well in the water. I've been impressed with their management team as well. I hope it continues on this trajectory.

Every aspect from staff to facilities to programming to to member administration have all been tops and perfect. They have all the skills, experience and tools with which to carry out their mission realized every hour of every day. It is such an important instrumental part of the community and we are so lucky to have their organized support therein. First the swimming: the aquatics program is infamously strong for every person of every skill from limited abilities all the way through Master swimmers with a few Olympians along the way. But really it is the everyday swimmer who comes and enjoys this experience with others simply and quietly that makes the quiet community so happy. Aquatics instruction can be variable but is generally very good. As always, the key is communication with the instructor and student both. They are every type of instruction in every type of format for every type of swimmer. There are three pools: warm, less warm, and cool (for the athletic types). If it's always wonderful for having very shallow, one for splash padding and acclimation as well as a infrequently open slide (seemingly just 30 minutes each Friday). Gym is extremely well equipped with every imaginable type of equipment and then some all in good quantities and state of repair. Shout out to the janitorial staff who do the unseen work of keeping everything as great, clean and sanitary as it needs to be. Thank you also to the maintenance and and engineering staff and supporting contractors for keeping his facility as good as we always hope it to be. The front desk does all welcoming individually with the card scans as well as having the green green rings for the under 12 swimmers to indicate they have passed the deep swim test. Member services are complete. The staff is knowledgeable, aided by how the IT system can keep up with all the requests. That system is online and self-service so takes care of most of your needs. Parking is always platiful with a vast space which has never run out of parking even during the annual car show days which takes more than half the lot. The lot is also used for a large number of community events so be sure to watch out for them as some are free to the public, not even only members. Life is better with the GSCYMCAband especially the Somerset Hills location.

I've yet to come across a coach / instructor that isn't great, and I like their semi-hardcore approach to lessons --- no parents in the pool area during lessons ( too distracting) ., small class size ( like 5, 6 kids). Kids seem to thrive there and learn fairly quickly to become confident swimmers which is the ultimate goal of sending them there . That said, the place is a dump. Like Zero stars dump. Even if they scrubbed this pool deck, the dismal waiting area or locker rooms/ restrooms, the place would still be vile. They've been in some political brawl for a few years trying to build a new location, so I imagine they haven't invested much in maintenance, but it's shabby. Really shabby. Like u don't want to put ur bare feet on the ground, or sit in the nasty windowless waiting area. The pool looks clean tho, and I've never had any pink eye, health issues w my kids, otherwise I wouldn't set foot in this dump. And yes, their in-person 1950s style class registration is antiquated , and slow. Their online registration only begins after the in-person registration day is complete , so u risk missing class times/days. Because that makes sense. And yes, Towney (sp) the guy who runs the programs is a little db-ish , but either he has gotten a little better/ more personable in recent years, or I'm just getting used to him. Then when I got on with my cardio, the TV was staticky, and while the gym had some decent stuff and some fit-looking members, I have to say these are not great facilities and the space is a little cramped. They offer no towels, no hairdryer, and in general, not one of the best I've used. I'd give it a 4 if not for the fact that the TV, lack of towels, parking issues, and especially getting yelled at, all made me not enjoy my workout much.

I take medication hallucinations I do not know why my hallucinations should be an issue or problem for anybody else, but evidently there are some people that don't understand that think they have the right to decide side who should be allowed to use the facility and who should not. I believe also that these people feel they can act in this hostile and intimidating manner because I suspect they have some association with people in the administration here in Metuchen Township. This is purely speculation, but I cannot imagine how these people can think they can behave in this aggressive manner with impunity. I will be writing a letter to the management of the facility, and to the company of which this facility is part and also to Mayor Busch. Depending on the response I receive, I will determine whether to file a complaint with the ADA in Washington DC.
