    2+2 squat racks

This Y is located on Mt Airy Rd in Basking Ridge. Our review is based on a visitor perspective. If looking for membership please read some of other reviews because it seems like cost maybe higher than expected. Also yes the parking lot is packed but I haven't seen where there are no spaces. As a visitor this is a good option. We have relatives in the area so we visit from time to time. Sometimes we get a guest pass. Sometimes we pay for a week pass. The cost is reasonable as a visitor. We went to use the gym and play basketball. They expanded the gym and brought in more equipment since I was last here. They have 2 squat racks and 2 half racks (see photo). They also have a green area with boxes for box jumps. They have 3 or 4 benches and 1 incline. They are missing some of the free weight lat pull downs and some other machines but have enough equipment. As for basketball, they do have open gym time but when you check online make sure when you click on one of the locations the website doesn't take you to the wrong location. There are players of varied skill and experience. Overall nice courts and they have large supply of decent balls in a bin at the courts.

He has been accommodating and has been careful to understandably push my wife harder than I. I really enjoy how every time we try something different (it makes me feel like I am getting a good value for my payment). I firmly believe repetition is hell, but this variety makes me look forward to working out, something I thought I would never say. Bill is a nice, supportive and mostly quiet guy which is exactly what I wanted in a 1 on 1 (or in this case 1 on 2) personal trainer. I did not want some meathead shouting at me to do better or calling me weak (something that is simply not in his personality). He works late one night a week and does a 1/2 day each weekend which has made it easy for my wife and I to go.

On most of the machines, the weight labels have worn off, so you don't know how much weight you're using. The women's locker room is also appalling. NONE of the toilet stalls can be latched. NONE! As for the hot tub and sauna, I've been a member for over 20 years and I've never seen them operational. I'm still using this gym because it's so close to home that I don't have any excuse for not going!

The interior keeps with this theme. The best feature of the club is the indoor tennis facilities, which are kept up very nicely. If it wasn't for the excellent condition of the tennis courts, I'd rate it 2 stars. There is a pro shop, where you can get racquets restrung, buy balls, racquets, clothing, shoes, etc. The gym... is ancient. Some of the workout machines are so old they look like medieval torture devices. I kid you not. This place is also popular because they have several racquetball courts. Unfortunately, several of the courts are open at the rear wall or the upper sides. It can be frustrating when your game is interrupted by your ball leaving the court and bouncing into the gym or a neighboring court. They are one of the only places around that allow you to pay-to-play, rather than have a membership, so I still use the place often. The locker room reminds me of a 1960s high school. I won't shower here, and the thought of using the hot tub is laughable. The staff has always been helpful, and very nice. This could be an excellent place if they invested in modernizing.

I wanted to try the Bar Method because of its lengthening effect on your muscles. I have the tone, now I just want to have a softer appearance. The staff is incredibly nice. Very accommodating, friendly and personable. The girl working the front desk greeted everyone by their first name, including my sister and I who were "in the system". I appreciated the staff's attention to detail. Our instructor made a point of introducing herself prior to the class beginning which helped my sister and I become more comfortable. As for the class itself, I took a bar basic class and was expecting a challenge but knew that it was still beginner level. During the class you would perform a set of exercises then stretch the muscle group worked. I loved that! Some of he maneuvers itself were difficult but over all the class was very easy. I left feeling like I could go do my usual workouts. I like the class overall, but if you are someone who lifts in the gym and is used to working out you maybe surprised at how well you can keep up.
