i've been a member for years and they really, REALLY make an effort to make this place as good as it can be. Always have. Even when freezing my membership during Lockdown and other times i couldn't afford it between gigs. Sure they inadvertently overcharged me for seven months recently by accident (and I didn't follow up) but it only amounted to $200 or so dollars total. So i asked myself: when does life become more important than money? Here. And the monthly charges are indeed hefty but I've never had a run in with rude employees, busted or rude employees of contract switcheroo's - all of which you find at other gyms. So i look at this way: as we get older, we exercise or we're going to have problems sooner. I'm past the old fifties and this could be my last active decade. Our phones are softening us up and not for good but there's also age so why not go out spinning, lifting and grinnin'! And another positive observation, Ace - how they do it here - I can't tell you but daily, they're mixing kids, adults, the elderly and every stripe of our cultural landscape together under one roof without any apparent issues at all. That alone is worth whatever they charge. We could all learn from this. Reminds me of my beloved Denmark. Normalcy, kindness and respect. It's nice to go to a place that's as much Peace Time as Exercise Time which of course makes Lifetime. Yes it's not cheap but if you want cheap, you become cheap. And investment here isn't subject to risk. You know those annoying brokerage or investment caveats? Not here: you put in the lifetime, you extend the life. And get this Yelp of an adage of mine: a gym is one of the few investments of time where if you honestly put the work in, you honestly get results. Yeah. That's what I'm talking about! Personal growth, Baby! Ah Rudyard Kipling. And you can't script this. I'm doing pectorals like Ren and the next thing I know, a phone call comes in from a Summit number and who is it? Berkeley Heights Life Time! "Sir um is this Charles Savoth?" "Why yes", says I. "Well someone returned your credit card at the front desk!" Honest members, honest gym, honestly I'm not the sharpest "bulb" in the gymnasium firmament! But really are bulbs sharp? I don't know but I'm happy as a clam Lifetime has my back, my Buddha front and my slippery plastic! And clams are happy - they're always smiling. Indoor and outdoor pools, Sauna rooms, cafe and a care center for kids which they also provide day nights for parents so you're able to drop off your kit there for a few hours while you go on a date. This place is super super bright and everyone is super friendly. read more

I had the opportunity to practice with Maureen in a Yin Yoga class. My oh my was the class amazing. I did poses and stretches I've never done in another yoga class and I've been to plenty! The prices are insane. I have a family of 2 adults, 2 babies, and 1 toddler which puts me at $449 a month plus fees. And then there's an extra fee to use the pools: $650 for the family for the season. Cannot fathom why the $449 membership fee would not cover the pool amenity cost. if you are an adult who likes to swim, beware! they cater to the swim lessons for kids and the swim team. BOTH pools have limited M-F hours and Saturday until 1:00 pm. M-f From 4:00 pm until 8:30 or 9:00 pm, BOTH pools are closed for lap swimming. This means if you work during the day, you either have to go there at the crack of dawn, OR, you have to go late in the evening. I was told to look for another facility if I wanted to swim in the early evening hours. And if go on a Saturday forget about it. The place is swarming with kids and the leisure pool is being used for lessons 9-1, and then the kids remain in the lanes after the lessons and people are clamoring for a lane to swim in. The membership fee is also high, and they made it clear to me that they cater to the swim team and swim lesson pupils. read more

This place is so awesome. We are a family of 3.. my husband, son and myself and it's so perfect for us for the summer time. Indoor and outdoor pool. It does get crazy during the day because there is a summer camp going on and the family room gets very packed. Women's, men's and family room are clean. There are always towels available as well as shampoo, conditioner and body wash in case you didn't bring yours. They also have shavers in the women's room. We love it here and can't ask for a better place to spend our summer. We worked with Joe and he is awesome, he walked us thru the whole facility and the classes they have. Love it. read more

Please reconsider joining this gym. The place is always packed, parking is next to impossible, and kids are running around everywhere. Not for me. I gave the gym two stars only for the spa, which was great. Do yourself a favor and go to a place that actually cares about their members. When I cancelled, I gave my notice as was in the contract I signed. To my surprise, they kept on charging me after that. I phoned member services, and they advised they couldn't find my paperwork! There are good and bad things to every athletic club and lifetime is no different. At its high price point though Lifetime becomes a more obvious target. BUT, there are few places you can go workout with more diverse equipment and never have to wait to use them, even at the busiest time of year. The classes are offered at lots of different times of day and the instructors are both motivating knowledgeable. I only wish they had more early morning yoga classes. As a triathlete the pool matters to me and Lifetime's pools are great! In the summer using the outside lap pool makes morning workouts fun and when It's cold there are 2 indoor pools though one is hotter as it's a rec pool too. The outside pool adds the benefit of slides for the kids and a cafe. Two basketball courts, recently resurfaced, a rock climbing wall and 3 racket courts round out a great destination athletic club. To boot there is a full childcare facility for members, camp for kids and a great set up for birthdays. The only dig on the place is that the Locke rooms could be cleaner and while the kids that clean them do an admirable job their seems to be a lack of managerial interest in keeping the place look and feel new. read more

Been meaning to write this review for a while. I really like Life Time. Before This COVID crap, I really enjoyed attending the hot yoga classes and I've never had to wait for any cardio equipment. I also took a few Pilates classes which were very good (although not worth paying extra for...I took them because I got a package signing up). The outdoor pool is awesome. Seriously saving our lives this summer. I have a 2 1/2 year old and she has a BLAST here everyday. The lifeguards are all very very nice and helpful. I have never seen it over crowded but we only go on weekdays. Now for the Life Spa. I should preface this by saying I've had the same haircut since 8th grade and it is not complicated so I've always felt a little put off paying too much to get it trimmed. This is the first haircut I've ever gotten that was actually worth the money. Pam was like a surgeon with her scissors...I swear she was cutting individual hairs. I've been to a few of the fancier salons in the New Providence area and this was just way better. The woman at the front desk was very kind and helpful as well! Only complaint: terrible classes in the middle of the freaking gym. People are legit yelling, throwing ropes around and shoving tires with no regard for anyone else. It. Is. Horrible. You try walking through and you are just always in the way and people are not very polite about it. Maybe management could take this time when the gym is shut down to rearrange the floor so these crazy people aren't always yelling at someone for being in the way. This NOT the fault of any Life Time employees (the trainers are always super nice and apologetic when they say you are in the way) it's just these lunatics screaming "MOVE" while running at you with a tire. Still a very good gym though not as good as before in my book thanks to over doing it intrusiveness on the basketball court. The courts here now belong to rich parents who want to pay ala carte for birthday parties or countless other activities for their kids. Within a half hour of shooting around on a Friday afternoon at 4 pm I was shuffled from one court to another to another until there was (surprise!) only one half court open for basketball. This is hardly the first time this has happened. Hence this review update. Birthday party on one side and what looked like a lucrative latch key on the half court across from the open court. I'm a parent too and the child watch here is great. Still, some balance is in order. They need to put limits on the money making kids activities in the gymnasium unless they want to lose basketball playing members to other facilities. The sales pitch when I joined was that this was a high end gym for adults with basketball and open 24/7. They cut back on the hours and now the basketball court is turning into gymboree. I've been a regular gymrat here since 2009 and met many cool ppl. HONESTLY NO OTHER GYM CSN F WITH LTF. LTF is a luxury gym promoting many services that you could find in a spa or a modern studio and as such has a valid monthly rate to provide all these services to clients. Nearly everything is in wood glass or tile. I've been in LTF since the first year and grandfathered in my rates. I hear rates now are $129. Im very satisfied with LTF. The amount of services they provide and things I can are so many that even the few things that do irk me I overlook. I think anyone that wants more out of their gym such as a place to meet new ppl and friends, do activities with ppl of similar interest, does group activities, and like water sports will also be more than satisfied with LTF. LIKES: Open hardwood court basketball all day, squash, rock climbing, free- cycling yoga bootcamp other classes, the cafe, the huge jacuzzi, free razors, shower products - qtip deodorant and moutwash, indoor and outdoor n pools, steam and hot sauna, the chicks in their leggings and yoga pants :), massages, trainers. Dislikes: summer time when ppl come to crowd the outdoor pool and all towels are gone, When Staff PREVENT full court basketball on court 2 cuz they wanna give court 1 to a family's birthday party (WTF IS THIS CHUCK CHEESE!?) You don't realize LTF this attitude tells the ten+ paying clients guys interested in playing Ball that the other family is more important than they are on that day (bad move LTF and you should be ashamed), how LTF went from a 24hrs gym to closing from midnight to 4am YET STILL CHARGE same rates (another slap to guests) so you will cut your hours by 1/6 but your not going to cut my rate by a 1/6??? (another bad move). That being said I've been coming here for years and still look forward to coming to lifetime. The basketball courts are nice, you can always find a hoop to shoot around. They actually have good basketballs and a good amount. Over all awesome place. Only reason for giving it a 4 not a 5 is the cafe... staff there is always rude and not pleasant. They need to keep the staff there in check. Also sometimes the front desk lady isn't nice. The facility is large and beautiful. They have extensive amounts of cardio and weight machines, and well as several cages for free weights. They offer many free classes as well as paid special classes. There are indoor and outdoor pools. The outdoor pool area has a water slide. The locker rooms are large and clean. The lockers are made of wood and operate using your membership card in the lock. There are towels, razors, hair dryers, hair spray, deodorant, and soap all provided for you. In addition, the locker room has both a sauna and a steam room. There is a rock climbing section, which you need to sign a waiver to use. You can climb the smaller wall, or if you have a belayer, climb the higher walls. They have a cafeteria where you can get a reasonably healthy breakfast, lunch, or dinner along with water, smoothies, workout drinks, etc. It also sells supplements, but I've found the prices to be very high. If you know a trainer, they can provide you with a discount code, which is usually around 10%. During various times of the year they have promotions and sales on the supplements. They have basketball courts, which are also used for volleyball during some evenings. There are also squash/racquetball courts. If that wasn't enough, they also offer massages, hair cuts, and manicures lol You could really spend the better part of a day here between working out, swimming in the pool, using the steam room, getting a massage, then having lunch. A big downside for 2015 is some genius in management decided to start working on the outdoor hot tub at the beginning of summer. It will not be finished until the fall. Which means ...no outdoor hot tub this year ! Who was the brainiac behind that decision? It's bad enough the outdoor pool is only open Memorial Day to Labor Day. May and September and beautiful months , there is absolutely no reason the outdoor area should be closed. As reference , scottsdales pool is open 10 months out of the year. They need to be better about keeping kids under 16 out of the weight area. They are often unsupervised and not well behaved. There should also be more kids-free time in the pool each hour, as they completely overrun it and make it not fun at all for adults. Some of the trainers are very knowledgable and helpful. Some of them , I shudder when I see the bad form they allow their clients to use on squats and deadlifts. What a complete letdown. The reason I joined Lifetime is because I spend most of my time in Scottsdale, AZ and Watchung, NJ and there are gyms in both places. It's bad enough that the pool in NJ is only open Memorial Day to Labor Day. May and September are generally beautiful months where the outdoor pool is wasted. Now that it is open, they are doing massive construction on the outdoor hot tub. My first complaint is that the sign says construction won't be completed until the end of summer, which is when the pool will be closed again. My second complaint is that the noise from the construction makes it impossible to enjoy the outdoor pool. Who in the world thinks a smart business decision is to mess up the use of outdoor facilities during the only three available months out of the year? What a waste. read more

I was visiting Edison NJ during the holidays and I needed a gym to perform barbell exercises---squat, bench press, overhead press, and deadlift. I also wanted a clean locker room with day use lockers, showers, and a steam room. This gym satisfied all these basic needs. I also appreciated the single-use day pass available for purchase. It was also nice to have a heated pool with swimming lanes. Furthermore I enjoyed the concept 2 rowing machines and stair mills for warm-up and cardio. After my workout, it was convenient to order a healthy smoothie full of green vegetables and whey protein from the juice bar. The person on this gym's staff that decided to set up 11 (that is not a typo, I truly counted eleven) complete squat racks with high quality 20 kg barbells and weights, deserves a special commendation. Even during the busiest times there were one or two squat racks available with no wait time. While I was in the bathroom, I noticed a member of the staff walking around with a walkie-talkie, inspecting the cleanliness of the facilities and giving specific assignments to the cleaning staff. This kind of proactive management of the bathroom, shower, and spa facilities enables this gym to stay clean despite its high volume of members. I have been searching for a gym reasonably close to Edison NJ for over four years, and some of the other gyms I have visited have been so filthy that I genuinely felt dirtier after coming out of the shower room. It is unfortunate that it took me four years of visiting Edison NJ to try out this gym. This gym's 2.5 star yelp score, and the yelp score's of the other gyms in the area mislead me very much. Maybe I have very peculiar tastes and requirements with respect to my fitness facilities, or maybe I just have a different sensibility than the typical resident in the local area. I am writing this review so that I can help save the next person a four-year search for a good no-nonsense gym. I would also like to express praise for the specific qualities of eleven squat racks and clean shower room facilities so that these qualities persist during my future visits. Minor areas of improvement include: 1. Make some extra benches available for use with the squat racks, so that I can bench press inside a squat rack and benefit from the safety spotter arms when working out solo. 2. Make some spare weightlifting belts available to members that are visiting from out of town and do not travel with weightlifting belts. High quality 10mm thick leather and at least 4" wide is preferable. 3. Reject the conventional wisdom of requiring in-person membership cancellation. It took me four years to visit this gym, largely because of all the 1-star reviews complaining about in-person membership cancellation. Provide each member with an online user portal where they can log onto an online portal and click a big red cancel button, then watch your 1-star reviews disappear. If I can give 0 stars I would. I think the place is nice the outdoor pool is great! I will say the policy people are unclear, I say this because I recently got diagnosed with a heart condition and I wanted a hold on my account but they can't accepted my doctors note I gave them of my condition that states "TBD" Lifetime replied that the note is not good enough and requested another note be given. And I gave them another note stating no gym for 6 months according to Lifetime they need a specific reasoning and etc other stuff to put my account on hold for the year. Otherwise every 3 months I have to keep getting another note. I think the people at the front desk are extremely nice and helpful for what they know but the backend people or whoever handles their emails aren't not understanding. It's sad on how I was treated and the situation handled but I decided to just cancel my membership because I don't need the stress of them requesting their money every time and them telling me my doctors note isn't good enough when I give it to them. read more

I felt extremely fortunate to be a guest for a hot yoga class in this gorgeous fitness place. Life Time Athletic offers top of the line equipments (basketball court, climbing walls, weights, floor workout area, swimming pool, treadmills, etc.), excellent classes (biking, etc.), wide opening hours, clean and luxurious locker and shower area (white towels, dryers, etc.) in a soothing spa-like atmosphere. Daycare, restaurant, manicure and pedicure, waiting area near the reception with comfortable leather chairs and a large TV, etc. are available on-site. The hot yoga class was led by a professional and friendly instructor on a soothing music. The vapors of eucalyptus scent enhanced the relaxing experience. What a delightful way to burn two hundreds twenty-one calories in a hour! Clean mats, blankets and towels were available. Enjoying time in this fitness club truly felt like a mini-vacation. You can purchase a day or weekly pass. Alternatively, you can become a member for around $129 per month. Club members will get around four free passes for guests per month. The sales person will be at least available starting from 8:00 a.m. on Sundays. It was free and easy to park on the large parking lot. read more

I was a client of this gym for at least 4years with swimming classes for my 4 year old, I had to cancel my membership and I request to cancel on Nov. 16 and they told me I was good to use the gym until the Dec. 16. Never told me they have a policy in place they would charge me again in Dec. the full month because I did not give a notice a month prior to cancel. In other words THEY STEAL YOUR MONEY! The reason I'm writing the review isn't necessarily the fact that the gym has so much to offer.. because that's a given..but the fact that the staff is unparalleled. The managers .. to the trainers.. to the WOMEN that work to clean the locker rooms. I'm missing my daily routine of going there everyday and chatting with the workers in the locker room to the sweet people that work in the cafe! We've been members for quite a while and will be cancelling our membership in the next few months. The facilities are fine but the staff is horribly rude and obnoxious. Front desk staff stand around and talk. They are useless. The hair salon is a joke. Management isn't around when there are lots of people in the club and aquatics hours are ridiculously limited when they should not be, even though I don't use them anymore. Run far from this overpriced monstrosity of a gym unless you want to overpay for not good food, not clean always facilities and trainers who are only looking to sell stuff. People also watch you put your combinations in the locker room in an attempt to steal stuff. Bad clientele. I can't tell you how many times I was almost hit in the parking lot by people speeding down the ramp of this place. I'd rather swim in a bathtub than the pools here. A few years ago I loved this gym but now they push personal training & have installed a HUGE set of monkey bars (after they removed most of the loved gym equipment) that the trainers have ppl hooking up stretchy bands to and calling it a work out - I mean you can do this at home with stretchy bands from the Five below store. Another recent issue is they hold group classes (once again led by personal trainers) in the middle of the gym floor, it's annoying that you're forced to listen or dodge these ppl bouncing around like land mines. The best thing & I'm sure the most over looked is the locker room staff. These guys hustle all day to keep the locker rooms & showers looking great, clean, counter wipes and towels clean. You do get the occasional creaton that leave wet towels on the floor, leave the sink full of the beard they just trimmed or take up the entire 6ft locker bench with a giant gym bag and dripping wet clothing - I guess some ppl just lack class. Also there is one chubby dude you might run into at the co-ed sauna who is so vile that he thinks it's OK to spit on the floor, like this is normal behavior. Rather then me loosing my temper with this guy how about they (LIFETIME STAFF) post an etiquette guide on the door - just saying.. Since everyone is paying a ton of $ why don't they consult the paying customers who keep the lights on and pay their bills when it's time for upgrades? Overall a decent gym but the shower water is still slimy & requires another shower when you get home. read more

We've been members at Life Time for a little over a year, and we've had a great experience there. Not sure if we'd be members if we didn't have a young child - the children's center and the pools are a huge factor for us - but we have really enjoyed our time as members. The locker rooms are clean and well-staffed, the showers are glam, even when there seem to be 1,000,000 cars in the parking lot there are always open machines, the desk staff is friendly and helpful, the trainers always seem to be available. I haven't tried any classes or the yoga center yet but people seem to enjoy them. The perks for us are the amazing kids center (long hours and friendly staff, tons of activities), the indoor heated pool (during winter) and the awesome outdoor pool in the summer. Putting price aside it's fantastic! I have the most amazing personal trainer named Shane. He made me feel comfortable which was my main goal at first and in three months I've lost 3% body fat. The trainers focus entirely on you and they are never distracted. Probably the most professional group of trainers I've seen. The cafe has delicious smoothies and burgers. The massages are on point and they also use high quality sheets for the massage beds. The app allows you to book massages online which is nice. I haven't been to the pool because it does look crowded. Don't let the full parking at all times of the day fool you, no one is actually working out. There are plenty of machines. Overall I'll only go to high end gyms like these after my experience. The blow outs are great if they don't cancel on you but I'm not going to dock any stars for a few bad apples. read more

I've been to bunch of lifetime gyms and this one is in pretty bad condition, especially for an onyx club. It's dirty, really beat up, and isn't even open 24/7. I understand it's 10 years old but the company could give this place some love. I'm just glad that I don't have to come here everyday. The workers are really nice though. read more
