We had a very expensive new furnace installed. Tech guys were ok but no one knew why a light was blinking until they changed the power box a week later. I recently got a contract with this company because I see people in My neighborhood Use them. I called today to get service for my ac and they told me they cant give me an appt till July 9. This is unbelievable. I have family in my house with serious health conditions. I Told them just that and they said we will put you on the emergency call list. This is not acceptable. Also I asked if I would upgrade to their platinum plan can they come out sooner. They said no because it takes 14 days to get the first appt. Be careful if you sign up for a service contract with them. Earlier this year I signed up for the Premier Plan which entitled me to preseason tune-ups for both my AC and my boiler. I started calling in August to set an appointment for my boiler preseason tune-up and was told they had no appointments available for the next month but to keep calling. Which I did, two more times. The last time I called I was assured that I was on the waiting list to get an appointment. It is now the end of October and we are beyond preseason at this point. So I called NJR Home Services and said that since you couldn't give me an appointment for the preseason tune-up, I would like to downgrade my contract to the regular total plan and save myself $5.64 per month. They were happy to do that. However, when I pointed out to them that I have spent almost $260 this year for service I didn't get (7 months charged @ $5.64 plus tax) she refused. She said they were granting me a "courtesy" by allowing me to downgrade the contract. It doesn't sound like I'm going to be renewing with them next year. read more

Extremely disappointed with NJR Home Services. I scheduled an appointment for a quote to replace my central air unit. The salesperson showed up 30 minutes earlier than the agreed time, then blatantly lied about arriving on time -- even though my door camera clearly shows otherwise. I've tried calling two days in a row to reschedule, and no one has returned my calls. This level of unprofessionalism and lack of basic customer communication is unacceptable, especially when dealing with major home system replacements. I had contracted NJR Home Services (NJRHS) to Replace my heating system & Air Conditioning system, While they were in my home conducting the installation of both systems, I called the salesperson and asked to have my Hot Water Heater (HWH) replaced even though there were no issues, but it was 24 years old and I figured I would have it replaced before an issue. The installers were were very professional and pleasant. After the installation of all 3 systems, about 2 months later I received the required permits in the mail from NJRHS for both of the HVAC systems. It is now approximately 4 months and I still do NOT have the required permits from NJRHS. I contacted my local Municipal building department and they confirmed that they only have an open permit for the HVAC Systems and Nothing filed with them for the HWH. Since I had to pay in advance to NJRHS for the permits to which they file, I am NOT going to pay again for the permits. I did call NJRHS and inquired about the permit for the HWH and they checked with their Permit Dept and can't find anything and was suppose to call me back and that was 2 weeks ago. I'm getting the impression that once they do the job and get the money, they don't care anymore. Final Inspections are very important to ensure that everything was done according to the UCC Code and safe for the occupants of the household. Unbelievable! I called on Tuesday (95 degrees outside) to say that my 3 year old AC wasn't working. The soonest they could get out was today. They did come out last night at 6:30 pm and the tech was very rude. He was in and out, said a part needed to be ordered and it could be a few days to come in. I have 3 small children and my house is 85 degrees. Today I call and part still hasn't arrived. Customer service is very nonchalant saying the part might come in today or maybe tomorrow but than a tech needs to become available. Called July 10 to obtain a time frame for the service call and was advised the time frame would be between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm. That's customer service ?!? I bought my house in November of 2021. I got a letter in the mail TODAY saying my comfort service contract is auto renewing. I have never heard of this before so I called NJR customer service. They told me I was paying $40 a month automatically in my NJNG bill for this. I asked if they could send over what contract I signed because I've never heard of this before. They assured me that I never signed anything, it just came with the house automatically I didn't have my own contract. After looking this up it appears this is COMPLETELY illegal unless they have a charge on the title of your home which clearly they don't. Told me they'd call me back and they never did. They fraudulently submitted information to NJNG for charges without any agreement from customers. These payments are unlawful and they only existed because NJNG does their billing. NJNG don't do anything verification of these contracts the company actually suggested that the contracts are inherited. They apparently fraudulently occurred on paperless billing, plus they seem to have access to NJNG customers personal information. read more

This company replaced an HVAC system in my home last year. I have had nothing but issues with them. I have 2 zone heat and it was just for my downstairs. The unit installed was too small. They did not take into account my square footage, open space, amount of windows, ceiling height etc. I paid another company to come out and they said the same thing "the unit installed is not large enough." My upstairs, which is over 25 years old, is still working and heats my entire upstairs in a sufficient amount of time. My downstairs takes hours just to go up 2 degrees. We are always cold and it's been a rough winter. I am so dissapointed with the lack of customer service and improper installation. The unit cost over $13,000. If I had known (since you can't post any negative reviews on their site, I've tried. They cherry pick the reviews). I would have never used this company. Needless to say I will NOT use them for my upstairs and would definitely not recommend this company to anyone. read more

These people replaced my gas water heater earlier today. For me, I found that everything was handled in the highest professional manner. From the ease of making an appointment, to the followups letting me know when the techs were on the way, to the professionalism of both techs while they were in my home and their knowledge of the equipment and options that were offered to me, I was very impressed with their service. First of all, it takes about 45 minutes to get someone to answer NJHS's phone; then it takes another 1/2 hour to schedule an appointment, which is usually an "all day" time; you never know when a driver will show up; now you have to tell them to bring a ladder to get to the unit and they usually forget and say it's your responsibility to provide access to the unit (heater, AC , water heater). Often they say the repair is not covered. The driver/repairman usually does not seem well trained. Plus the price is high. And NJHS does not do routine preventative maintenance. NJHS provides me no peace of mind; I'm dropping all the plans as soon as I can, and will just call a licensed repairman when needed. read more

Had sales person Dave come to my house to give me a price on 4 ton compressor and air handler. He was a gentleman but lacked personally. After sitting down he went on his I pad, mumbled to himself and then printed out the proposal. Handed it to me without any explanation on what they will do exactly for the overpriced amount of appropriately 12k which sells for 4k for 4 ton split units on internet with free shipping. Remember this is a replacement. So they want 8k for disconnecting old compressor and air handler. I asked for first responder or military or senior discount, said their was none and thanked me for my service. I then said it was too much money. Over the summer, one of my AC units stopped working. It was over 30 years old and condenser could not be replaced, so replacement was required. Even though it was the middle of the extreme heat wave, they arranged for salesperson next day for quote, and even arranged installation three days later. They went far out of their way to please and accommodate. Every representative was so patient, kind and understanding; the technicians were friendly, helpful and knowledgable. They patiently waited months for the SaveGreen money to come through for payment. I use NJR for all my service contracts (ACs, Furnaces, Water Heater) and they have always provided exemplary service (I have had their coverage for 20 years). The phone people are kind and caring, and the technicians go out of their way to provide exemplary service each and every time (and I have them here seasonally considering the age of my units!). They keep my other 30+ year old units running due to their dedication, caring and skill. I cannot recommend them highly enough for both installations and for service! read more

We live in Barnegat Light, NJ We have no heat - it's one of the coldest days today, tonight, and tomorrow, and they have no spots for emergency calls. Put us on a list in case there's a cancellation, but otherwise no go. What heating company doesn't provide space for emergencies, especially in the winter. In general I was somewhat happy with the service men who came to the house to fix my furnace. My furnaces are old so I know that there are limits as to what they can do. We decided to buy a new furnace and could not get to first base with their salesman Robert. We could not even get together for an appointment. Imagine a sales person who thinks he is better than the customer. He called at night when I was not available and then got annoyed with me when I could not accommodate his schedule for a telephone call. I apologized for my busy schedule but that did not sit well with Robert. He ignored my calls. My advise is that are plenty of fish in the sea and to run from these "better than Thou" people. I know that there are good salespeople out there and NJT needs to find the good ones. read more

I gave a 5 star for the work the tech performed, every tech that has come to our home has been great, however the customer service is less than 1 star. NJR installed a tankless water heater on Feb 7, since then i find out there was no permit by the town issued, and I have not received my rebate info since Feb 7. I have called repeated times and been on hold for over 50 minutes and no supervisor will speak to me. The town has said if the permit isn't finalized soon, I will be fined. My suggestion is deal with local plumbing and heating people. NJR and NJNG are the very worst in terms of customer service. read more

I had received several high-ball estimates from local HVAC companies and was quite happy with the realistic price quoted to me by NJR/HS. One phone call, fast scheduling, easy terms (12 payments on the gas bill). Two techs arrived as scheduled and had the job done in under two hours. The company has be charging me for payments of falsely initiated contracts for over 20 years. They actually had the nerve to suggest that I wasn't reasonable to ask for a complete refund. During a period of sub-freezing weather, I was told the wait for a service call was 5 days. My boiler that was installed by NJ Home Services needed to be replaced. after 14 months. Do not use NJ Resources. They heartlessly ripped off my elderly mother and refused to repair the two-month-old HVAC unit they sold her in freezing winter weather! In mid-December 2023, my 86-year-old mother financed a new furnace and service contract through NJR to replace her old unit. The basement has both a sump pump and French drains, but the workers disregarded recommended procedure (& common sense!) and did not place the unit on a platform. Five weeks later after a torrential rainstorm, the sump pump failed, flooding the basement, and disabling the furnace. NJR sent technicians two days later for the repair and the technician claimed that the unit could not be fixed. He said that since the unit had taken in water, was "unsafe," & would be "red-tagged" and that NJR would no longer service the unit. He then instructed my mother to contact her homeowner insurance carrier. When she asked why the unit had not been placed on a platform, the technician explained that despite the fact the unit was located less than 19 feet from a sump pump and less then 2 feet from a French drain, they were "not required" to install it on a raised platform. I contacted NJR customer service and the representative (Jennifer?) while she was sympathetic, she said there was "nothing more she could do." Due to the gross negligence and incompetence of NJR installers, my elderly mother is without a safe, working furnace, and she still owes nearly $7000 on the broken heating unit NJR incorrectly installed. read more

Finally they scheduled our service charged me the copay $55 and then I get an email that my appointment is canceled. When I call and ask for a supervisor nobody picks up the phone. Don't waste your time or money this is not a legitimate company. To update they forwarded an email to us that we are scheduled for service between 8 am and noon. Nobody shows up and when we call. They tell us they canceled the service. No reason for cancellation. Yesterday a supervisor rodolfo garro sent me an email confirming my appointment. I sent mr garro an email asking him to please call me as nobody showed up. I have never heard from mr garro.
