It was my first time there today. I had a one hour body massage for $40 and the infrared sauna afterwards for $20. I liked the whole place, they all whisper and it is quiet, they were all really friendly, the massage was wonderful, and the sauna was also very good. While I was sitting in the sauna, they brought me water 4 times! That was so friendly. After that I was able to have a shower, the change room was also very clean and inviting. This is my third time to Nirvana in the past 2 weeks. I love the ambience and the beds are incredibly comfortable. I have had consistent, relaxing and therapeutic massages each time I have been there. The owner, Yan is so great with customers and really makes you feel at home. I have been here three times now and will not be going back. After reading the great reviews, I thought it would be good. But it is not. Each time I have had somebody different, in an effort to find the right person that is giving this place all the five-star reviews. Today I went and the only thing that was changed on the massage table was the paper towel under my face and the paper towels near my feet. Ewe! The lady did not even soak my feet and I went in for the $20 foot massage. She massaged my back over my shirt and the towel the entire time, no oil, no touching my skin. Once she got to my feet, she stayed there forever massaging the same few places, I am not sure she knew what she was doing. The first time I went there I had a terrible experience with the manager lady, I believe her name is Yan. She talks incessantly, about nothing in particular, and in what is not very good English so you cannot understand what she is even saying. I did however get the gist of it, she was bad mouthing another client. If you have ever been to Crystal Palace in Newbury Park, then you will know that Nirvana is so not worth it. The owner Yen was so warm and welcoming and always made sure to for us in last minute! She even gave us some of her homemade food and it was so delicious! I have been here twice now and undecided on if I will return. The first time was with my husband and this time just me. My first experience was more positive which is why I returned. The lady seemed to know what she was doing and while the pressure was a bit much sometimes it was relaxing. My husband said the same. The second time I called ahead, made an appt and very clearly asked for a female and was told this wouldn't be a problem. Like other reviewers, upon arriving they seemed surprised that I had an appt and then tried giving me a male. I ended up getting a female but an pretty sure she has no training as a masseuse. It was awful, weird and uncomfortable. For people familiar with Friends, I felt like the Ross episode where he's clueless and using wooden spoons. I am a little stunned by how weird of a "massage" it was. None of the right places massaged, felt haphazard, no pressure, hurt weird. I still have a decent tip (20%) and she was clearly not happy with the amount and quickly became dismissive and rude. I get it...20% on such a low rate may be 20% but isn't that much overall but still. When paying for a massage I expect someone who knows what they are doing, at least somewhat. read more

If -1 Star was possible, I would apply that for this review. I had, by far, the worse massage ever tonight. Went in for s 60-minute foot "reflexology" and honestly, I don't even know what it was I got. That woman was the laziest, inexperienced, masseuse I have ever had. She acted like it was such a bother to do the massage. She kept on spacing out and pausing. There was absolutely no technique whatsoever. I don't think this woman was trained at all as a masseuse. The body massage was terrible but I stayed and hoped that maybe the foot massage portion would be better. Nope! She just kept rubbing oil on my leg, like literally just putting oil, not massaging. I still had a few minutes left, but I just got up and paid. The lazy masseuse rang me up and I told her that it was the worse massage ever. I got no apology. I just stopped in tonight and got the $20 60 min foot massage and it was great, like a lot of reviewers I have had many massages at many different places and this place is at the top of the Chinese foot massage places. It is clean and well laid out, not dark and hidden so you are afraid to enter. The room is dimly lit and nicely decorated. The music relaxing, the tables clean with towels and linens that both looked and smelled clean. I have a herniated disc in my neck and I told the therapist and he was careful massaging my neck and back. My only complaint is that they should wash their hands before starting a massage, his hands were warm and clammy and didnt smell great and that didn't feel too nice, also a breath mint helps! It would be nice to have some scented oils. But the massage technique was perfect. read more

This is one of my 2 favorite Chinese foot massage places in Thousand Oaks. It's clean and my massage therapists are strong and target all my knots & achy muscles. I usually ask for Ivy for a body massage and either Ivy or Kevin for a foot massage. The only thing is that you'll hear quite a bit of whispering between the therapists. HORRIBLE. Just horrible. I experienced the worst customer service EVER here. Truly a shame because the massage was decent and like every other Chinese massage place around they have the 20 dollar foot reflexology, which is a great deal. Even when you tip 5 dollars (which is 25% and I think that is more than fair) they laugh at you and say it isn't enough. If you want to charge more for your massage THEN CHARGE MORE. Beautiful atmosphere, kind and wonderful staff, crazy intense massage. Whenever we get a chance to leave the kids with the grandparents, my wife and I do date-night-massage. We always leave feeling either relaxed and satisfied or worked and loose. That's the best part of this place...you get really great massages. I've been a customer before they opened at this location. I called to book a foot massage for 2. I received a call at 4:55 asking how much longer before I arrived. I told them 5 min. In time for my appt. at 5:00. When we arrived, we were told to sit. We waited for 10 minutes and then were told that we had to wait until 5:30. I confirmed my appt. and they did not honor it.
