This place started out pretty bad but eventually became one of my favorite spots. My go-to is Hibachi Shrimp.

Steak and Shrimp combo was excellent. Food was nice and hot. Went in and order to go, 10 minute wait. Will go back.

Great takeout foods and friendly service . Vegetable grill is fantastic! Can't wait to go back for more and get the shrimp.

Reservations are highly recommended - it's on the smaller side. The menu has so many options and an amazing variety. One thing to note is this Japanese food is not like most others. Its focus is on homestyle, also fried/stir fried Japanese dishes. So do not expect Ramen or noodle soups. A couple things that are always ordered is the Kaarage, Takoyaki, Okonomiyaki (best in the city), yakisoba or udon, and gyoza. The staff is so sweet and the decorations remind me of Izakaya places in larger cities. They have a bar with cool cocktails and adorable bento boxes they sell during lunch hours throughout the week. Cannot recommend this place enough!!

The takoyaki has a crunchy outside and a good flavor (4/5), and the okonomiyaki is pretty filling (4/5); these were the best two. The yaki-udon with shrimp was ok (3/5) but definitely expensive for what it was and the quantity; they also don't add much shrimp, despite the up charge. The sake no shioyaki was below average for salmon (2/5) and very expensive for that amount they give you. Similarly, the onigiri is almost entirely rice if you add salmon (2/5). You order on a tablet, and they bring the food out. Service was ok (3/5); we had empty waters for a while. The restaurant is well-decorated, and you can see the chefs work, which gives it an ambiance somewhat like a hibachi place (4/5). Overall, I think most of the items are pretty expensive for what they are; they don't have the quality or quantity to justify the price.

I placed an order online to pickup! Their website and online menu are very simple to navigate with tons of customization options available. The store is tucked unassumingly into a standard strip mall, but once entering.. this restaurant is a completely different vibe. Modern furnishings, updated decor, and very well cleaned.. you feel like you are entering a high scale restaurant!! You grab takeout from the bar in the back and the kitchen staff brings it out nice and hot! I also... unassumingly... stopped by and met Tiffany ... just as kind and sweet in person as you can read through her reviews. Anyway... back to the review... I ordered Shrimp Tempura and Hibachi Chicken with Fried Rice and a Salad. The Shrimp Tempura appetizer was four large shrimp with an insanely crisp and tasty coating and sauce! (These may be a go-to for this tempura lover!) The Hibachi Chicken was a massive portion of veggies and protein.. easily enough to split. The fried rice was fluffy and freshly fried!!! With such fresh made food and so well packaged, this could easily be a takeout gem on the Golden Mile Highway.

A perfectly cooked medium-rare steak? Check. Fluffy, rich fried rice that feels like a warm hug? Check. Veggies so good they could convert even the pickiest eater? Absolutely. But the real stars? The sauces. I don't usually drench my food in sauce, but when it comes to yum yum sauce, I want a whole volcano of it erupting onto my plate. And let's talk about the bonus: at Ichiban, you get both noodles *and* fried rice. Why choose when you can have the best of both worlds?
