What an incredible dining experience! This restaurant is truly top-notch, and Kenneth, our server, was by far the best we have ever had. Dining isn't just about a meal, it's about the entire experience, and Kenneth exceeded every expectation. His food suggestions were spot-on, and each entrée was absolutely delicious. Crab cake might have been frozen and then deep fried. The Mac and cheese was dry. Carrots were cold. Ordered a filet and an $85 ribeye RARE... they both came out well done. We sent them back and after 25 more minutes of waiting to receive new ones we had to wave down a different staff member to cancel them. About 10 minutes after that the manager finally came up and said that she was sorry we felt the way we did, asked if we wanted the steaks to go. We replied no and she said "well it's coming out shortly and you won't have to pay for it just take it". ??? I am a regular at the bar. Rarely sit in the dining room because I am usually solo. Edwina and Matt go above and beyond in terms of service and accommodating despite the ineptness of the General Manager - Rana- I would always give it 5 out of 5 stars because of the staff and food/service. For the manager I would only fine her 1 star l. I would give Matt and Edwina a pay raise as well because I see on a regular basis the stress they are put under due to the inconsistency/u professionalism of the General Manager - consistently berating them in front of customers, not being consistent in the application of policy, and overall lack of knowledge how to handle a high end restaurant. Dining at the Nineteen 86 Steakhouse inside the casino proved to be a perplexing experience--an evening full of inconsistencies that, while not disastrous, left the table unsettled and underwhelmed. Service & Atmosphere The evening began with an unusual lull: nearly ten minutes passed before anyone approached to take drink orders. Bread followed another ten minutes later, though curiously, a basket sized for only two diners was brought to a table of four. A larger basket eventually arrived, but the initial misstep set the tone--minor oversights adding up to a disjointed rhythm. Service throughout the evening was polite but lacked attentiveness, leaving guests to navigate awkward plating mishaps on their own. Starters The French onion soup carried good flavor but missed the depth that comes from a proper wine base; the broth felt thin, and the cheese topper leaned heavy and imbalanced. The lobster bisque arrived blisteringly hot--so much so that tasting it immediately was nearly impossible. While capped with an attractive pastry dome, the excessive heat muted enjoyment. Escargot brought another oddity: the flavors were there, but the breadcrumb-heavy presentation strayed from tradition and distracted more than it delighted. Entrées Steakhouse fundamentals are where one hopes for redemption, yet execution here was mixed. An 18-ounce ribeye arrived unexpectedly bone-in, explained as "the standard presentation," though this wasn't communicated on the menu. The rib cap, a cut typically presented with a signature swirl, was instead plated like a strip steak. Cooked properly to medium-rare and flavorful, yes, but visually at odds with expectations. A far stranger misstep came when king crab legs ordered by another guest were mistakenly plated beneath the ribeye--requiring diners to awkwardly separate surf from turf without staff intervention. Such oversights undermine the polish one expects from a prime steakhouse. Sides The lobster mac & cheese, delivered after entrées were already served, highlighted timing issues in the kitchen. Best Ceasar Salad I have ever had. I was not pleased with the half chicken. It was more like a Cornish hen. The gravy/sauce that is served with it was EXTREMELY salty. They honored my request to remove the gravy and gave me another order. That was worse. Absolutely no flavor. Not even in the rice it was stuffed with........ Update (5 years later): Still exceptional. We returned to Nineteen86 Steakhouse on Christmas Day around 5:45 PM as a party of four, and once again, this place absolutely delivered. When we arrived, there was a small hiccup with our OpenTable reservation. It showed three guests on the restaurant end even though we had added a fourth beforehand on OpenTable. Our host explained that the update never reached their system, but she handled it immediately and graciously accommodated all four of us without hesitation. This was impressive on a busy holiday. I wish I had caught the names of our servers because they truly deserve recognition. Our main server and a female server who stepped in midway through our courses worked seamlessly together, very much in tandem. Both were attentive, patient, and incredibly detail-oriented. Water was always available, timing between courses was spot-on, and check-ins felt thoughtful. They were also wonderful about explaining the Christmas set menu, which was new for my daughter, and made her feel completely comfortable asking questions. The food was outstanding. The prime rib was melt-in-your-mouth tender, the maple bacon pecan tart appetizer ( I think that was the name) was rich and delicious, and the cheesecake completely won my daughter over. By the time we finished our meal, we were so full we had to take some home. Even as leftovers, the quality absolutely held up. Re-warmed with the au jus, the prime rib was still incredibly flavorful and tender, which speaks volumes about the care and technique behind the dish. Holidays or special occasions, we happily drive out of Sierra Vista to dine here, and this Christmas visit reminded us exactly why. Consistency like this (in both food and service) is rare. The first time my husband and I went in December we had a wonderful experience the food was phenomenal the service amazing Tonight was completely different the service was horrible. First the dish both my husband and I wanted was not available and the prime ribs was pushed. I watched as 5 other tables that were sat after us get bread and drinks and the server told us "I put in for bread service let me check" I hen we did not see her for about another 20 to 30 minutes we finally get bread and our drink and our food comes out less than 5 minutes later. The prime rib was like warm the potatoes on the plate were cold and our shared sides were barely warm and no one brought us steak knives until we had sat with the food for over 10 minutes. The prime rib was tasteless the only thing on it was salt. We took it home for our dogs that is how bad it was. We are the type of people who will tip well if effort was made, no effort was made and we just wanted to leave and I didn't have exact change so the waitress ended up with a $5 tip. If I would have had exact change she would have received nothing that is how poor the service was. I was thinking of going back for my birthday but if your establishment screwed up and ignored us on just a run of the mill date night then I definitely don't want to come back to be upset and disappointed on a special occasion read more

We went out for our Christmas Eve dinner and it was wonderful! We started with the Caesar Salad, which is always so good. We both had Filet Mignon, which was cooked to perfection, as usual. I added a Bordelaise sauce, which was like the cherry on top of a perfect sundae. For our sides, we went with their Sweet Corn (sauteed) and the Brussel Sprouts (they have a brown sugar glaze on them). Both were so delicious! And, for our dessert, we had the Bananas Foster...again. It's hard to get something else, when that's on the menu. As usual, everything we ate was delectable! I have no clue how this kid was let loose on the floor. Friday night, 60 percent capacity total, maybe he's got three tables and we sat for an hour and a half. People came in and were eating all around us. A kind server took mercy and brought me a drink & we ate the entire breadbasket. He told us he had to split a check, for another table, and he's new at that! And he definitely placed our order! I'll never know because at that point it was too much and I wanted to leave because my being nice was getting so thin. We love Nineteen 86! It's inside the Desert Diamond casino in Glendale, AZ. If you're at the bar ask for Matthew and if you're in the dining room, Amy's your girl! They offer seafood towers, bread service , prime steaks and other signature entrees. We have been many times over the last few years and they recently got a new chef earlier this year, who was on the "Beat Bobby Flay" show on Food Network. Her contribution to the steakhouse has been a noticeable and positive change. They have consistent offerings, offer fine dining without the strict dress code and friendly staff! And if you gamble at the casino, you can use your players card to collect or redeem points/comp dollars. Win win all around, highly reccomend! read more

Our meal surprised us. We definitely didn't have high expectations given this was inside of a casino. I was very happy with the service and the food was beyond what we expected. Everything was cooked as requested and the old fashioned was top notch. The dessert was good as well. The ambiance was nice, clean, and didn't look too shabby. I think this place would really benefit from being updated into something a little more western given the name. It reminded me of a large dining hall and didn't feel too cozy. We dined here tonight to celebrate my mom and dad's 50th anniversary. Now the only bad thing was when we first got there the hostess didn't even greet us. She didn't even look up or ask me to wait a minute when I walked up just quietly punching in info on the her little computer thingy. Then all she said was what name is the reservation under and looked it up, grabbed menus and asked us to follow her. Luckily the service was great after that. We had a wonderful waitress named Anna from Cincinnati. She was the best! She helped my brother and I make our parent's anniversary special and she was so much fun. She even brought us a special dessert on the house that wasn't even on the menu. She was fabulous! Now it took awhile for the food to come out but it was so delicious. My brother and I split the tomahawk steak. We had them slice it for us and it was cooked perfectly. So juicy and flavorful. My mom ordered the salmon which was cooked nicely and it was melt in your mouth delicious. My dad got the pork chop and it was also cooked perfectly and so juicy and tasty. Everyone was happy with what they ordered. For our sides we got the mashed potatoes which were so buttery and creamy, green beans and asparagus which were tasty and cooked nicely. Not soggy and still has some crunch. And we also got some sautéed corn. Best tasting corn I've had in awhile. So good! Everything was delicious! For dessert our waitress brought out a special treat. It was a chocolate mousse cake and it was sinfully delicious, so decadent and rich. Really nice decor, fancy but not over the top and we loved that it's casual attire and not dressy. It is pricey but for a steakhouse it's on the lower end and not too over the top. I've been to other steakhouses where it's crazy high. It was clear he was very busy and frustrated by his tone, however, it was our first impression and it was very off putting. Not even a hello, how are you, apologies, let me get this wiped down for you. It was very abrupt and rude. We left and had a drink at the casino instead. The dining experience was very different. We had a wonderful time and the staff was incredible. I will say that the steak and lobster were both overcooked. We have had many great meals at this restaurant but our last two visits just haven't been up to par and so we have removed it from our list of go to restaurants. We used to enjoy the escargot and when it was still on the menu, the second to the last time we were there, the chef make the decision to make the escargot with Sambuca...yuck! Our server greeted us and told us that they had a new chef so we were excited at the prospects! Unfortunately, escargot was no longer on the menu. We ordered raw oysters instead which were good. I ordered the rib-eye and considering the cost I had high expectations. When our entres were served I was unpleasantly surprised at how thin the rib eye was. It looked and tasted like a cheap piece of meat and was not worth the price we were charged. We rarely saw our server and our water glasses were never refilled. About half way through our meal my husband ordered a second beer from our server. The beer never game and he wasn't too disappointed because he was really on the fence about having another beer but when we got our bill the second was on it. After bringing it to the attention of our server they apologized and said they didn't realize the beer was never served. The reason for the rating is that this is not an upscale restaurant as they are presenting themselves to be and their prices should be adjusted accordingly. read more

My wife and I recently went to the Nineteen 86 Steakhouse at the Desert Diamond Casino West Valley for my birthday. We made a reservation for 6:45 PM on a Saturday evening, and we had a delightful experience with good service, a nice ambiance, and delicious food! The reservation was made using OpenTable. We actually arrived about 15 minutes early and waited less than five minutes before being seated and meeting our server Clayton, who was great! He continued to check on us throughout the meal and provided us many helpful suggestions (as we also looked at Yelp photos). We arrived in a more bar-like atmosphere but were seated in a much larger and quieter dining room. We also were provided a tablet with the drink list, which we declined ordering from. For a cold appetizer, we ordered a Spring Mix Salad to split which included seasonal baby greens, cucumber, strawberries, Meyer lemon, and olive oil vinaigrette (along with candied walnuts which we left off). A complimentary taste of a tribal appetizer was also provided to both of us. While we didn't order it, we saw other tables ordering a classic Caesar salad made to order tableside. Shortly after the salad, we had our main dishes arrive, which included an 8 ounce filet of steak for me with peppercorn sauce and a pan-seared king salmon for my wife. We then shared an accompaniment of baby heirloom carrots with maple-glaze. While we were deciding between the various cakes to share for dessert, Clayton arrived with a full chocolate cake as a complimentary birthday dessert. The cake was different than the Chocolate Decadence cake on the menu. It had fruits, chocolates, and macaroons on it, and had red velvet cake and chocolate mousse inside. While we both enjoyed a slice, we had plenty of leftover cake to bring home. Yum!! We also were each provided a chocolate truffle while we were waiting for our bill. We have Ken as our server and he was very kind, knowledgeable, and was kind enough to offer us splitting our prime rib into two since we are not a big eater. On our 39th wedding anniversary we had a less than satisfactory experience at the Nineteen 86 Steakhouse. The Lobster Bisque was very good. The Lobster was very good. But, the 8oz filet was subpar, small and tough to cut and chew. We are glad we got only one to share as it was a disappointment. We go to Texas Roadhouse almost every week and we know that that is how 8oz filet is supposed to be. Now for the service. Although it was skillfully executed we had an issue when the waiter playfully smacked my wife on the shoulder, a shoulder she seriously injured and has been recovering from for 5 months. We informed him that the shoulder had been seriously injured and that type of contact was unwelcome, painful and inappropriate. He offered a "free dessert". When it came time for dessert he mentioned that he could only offer bread pudding. Yuck! We were looking forward to Creme Brulé and cheesecake which we paid for ourselves. We had to ask for cocktail napkins for our drinks, silverware to eat, refills on drinks...the list goes on. She was unfriendly and not engaged in making it a great experience for her and her customers. The crab cake was DELICIOUS! He gave us our menus and walked away without offering bread or drinks. After another 10 minutes, he took our drink orders. He returned in another 10 minutes with our drink, so it was about 400 minutes to get our drinks. Unfortunately no bread, so we asked an hors d-oeuvre server. He didn't bring any either. When our server returned, we asked for appetizers. They did come out shortly. And shortly after that, we asked our server for bread again. After another 10 minutes it finally arrived. We were hungry, thank goodness!!! It was noticeably apparent that other guests around us were getting impatient. One lady next to us was outright angry at the wait. I try not to let anything ruin a nice night out and did a little better with the wait. The appetizers were really good. My wife had the shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were big and beautiful and the cocktail sauce was spicy! I got the bacon steak, yes pork belly! It was decadent and very smokey. I recommend that you share this one. It's a lot of bacon! For our main course, I ordered a filet Mignon medium-rare and a lobster tail. My wife ordered the lobster. My filet was cooked a little more toward medium but was still good. The lobster was excellent and a definite recommend! We were so full that we didn't even make it to our sides. Fortunately, they boxed our leftovers in a beautiful take home bag. I thought that was a nice touch. I do like Nineteen 86 more than other local fine dining steak houses that I have been to. I will be definitely back for special occasions.
