We got a burger, chicken sandwich, fries and pretzel, and bartender recommended award winning porter after I told him my taste preferences. It was a little loud and hard to hear over the din of the restaurant at first (people of all ages having fun!) but we found a table off to the side, and I believe there is outdoor seating- so just beware when going with hearing challenged folks at busy times. Our lunch here today was pretty good. We both ordered the Smoked Brisket Chili, which is labeled as a new menu item. It came with cornbread and was topped with cheese and jalapeños. The chili had a great flavor and had a nice kick of spice. The brisket was really tender and had a mild smoky flavor. The cornbread wasn't that great. I found it to be very dense, but it paired fine with the chili. It's a really filling chili and I found that I couldn't finish all of it. It's not a large amount but the brisket and dense cornbread made it a hearty meal. The service was friendly and attentive. The food did take awhile to come out. Especially for the few people that were dining in. We did find the music to be ridiculously loud. read more

I have visited Nine Giant on two separate occasions in the past month. Both times I ordered the Drunken Bacon Grilled Cheese and it's quite likely that I'll order it again the next time I return! It's so cheesy, just the right amount of bacon, and it's on Sixteen Bricks bread so it makes an amazing sandwich. We also ordered the nachos which were a bit on the spicy side but very tasty. Other people in my family got the BLT, Nine Giant Burger, and the Salmon Burger and everyone really liked their food. I tried one of their summer beers- Leopard Print Jet Ski. It is a strawberry kiwi Berliner, and it had a nice flavor. I would order it again, but I probably wouldn't order more than one in a sitting. read more

This is a great little brewery in Pleasant Ridge! This is characterized as a gastropub and it's the food part that of their fare that we sought. Daughter was craving a burger and I wasn't that hungry but an appetizer would be nice. The burger looked great - a nice upscale bun with a nice burger and cheese. I ordered the Brussels sprouts and French fries and they were both excellent! The sprouts were crispy with a zingy mustardy sauce - so glad I exerted them! The fries were served hot on a metal tray. I loved all the little crunchy bits. The interior was nice, clean and spacious even though it's smaller compared to some of the mega breweries around town. Big open windows looked out to the street, letting in lots of light. A sign clearly communicated how to order (get a menu, have a seat and then order at the bar). The menu is limited but beyond standard bar fare (witness the Brussels sprouts). Bartender was pleasant and efficient. Plenty of street parking on a Sunday afternoon. I don't even know where to begin. Yes this place is a brewery, but it is something more. The food here is outrageously good, honestly one of the best restaurants in Cincinnati and one of the best restaurants I've tried...period. These guys know what there doing and out of the dozen plus times I've been here, I've yet to be disappointed. The new Tuesday should become Burger Tuesday (trust me you won't miss tacos once you try their burger). Each Tuesday they have a special burger. Their burgers are awesome. Juicy, meaty, topped with delicious varying ingredients and tucked between two tasty fluffy buns. Their regular menu burger is amazing as well as their special burgers. My favorite burger was the blackened shrimp burger they sold for Mardi Gras. It was stellar! Definitely one of the best burger joints in Cincinnati if you are okay with not having thick burgers (like Gordo's Pub & Grill). This was my second visit to Nine Giant and my boyfriend's first. We have pretty different tastes in beer and were both able to find something we loved very easily. I had the Very Emergency and he had I Like Beer! (perfect name). Their berliner weisse selection is amazing. The food was also delicious. We got fries, brussel sprouts, and a burger to split. I've been to Nine Giant 3 or 4 times and each time I leave I think, I should come here more often. The rare dual threat of a brewery that also has excellent food options. One of the main drawbacks is the size. It can be a little tough to grab a table at times, but the wait isn't terrible when you have a few options very close by to have a quick drink. On this occasion, we came in for lunch on a Sunday. With the size, the two bartenders were responsible for both the bar and the entire restaurant. Typically this could delay things but they were both very prompt. We did want to order some wings but I guess they weren't done being smoked yet. Not a big deal. The food came out quickly and everyone was pleased with what they ordered. The place was clean and as a "seat yourself" which made it easy with only two people. it's a smaller brewery location in cincinnati. Unfortunately the day got away from me and by the time we got there (8-8:30pm), the lobster roll had sold out. However!....I did get the pesto chicken mac and cheese and wow that was good. If I could leave less than a star I would. Entered this establishment and sat at the bar right at the end nearest the kitchen. There was a bartender that looked directly at us several times, EYE TO EYE CONTACT 4 times at least. He proceeded to take an order from someone who walked up to the bar next to us, clear a few tables then returned to cash out another person who walked up to the end of the bar. Then to top it all off, a couple sat down next to us and he almost immediately asked them what they wanted to order. He never asked us if we were ready or wanted to order or anything.it felt like we were invisible I have never had such a poor experience like this especially at a brewery. Great brewery and kitchen! Recently went for half way to burger week and had their guac burger. I also had this burger during their burger week and it's so good! I wasn't sure about the hot Cheetos but they definitely added a nice crunch. I also enjoyed a couple beers (the blackberry ipa and the monarch ipa). Our waitress was awesome and very attentive and friendly even though they were busy. I need to come back to try some of their normal menu items. read more

Nine Giant is a newer brewery. It's located in Pleasant Ridge close to the famous chili place and that record store. The beer list isn't as big as other breweries around there. It's still new. This one does have a food menu so you can drink and eat at the same time. I had the Boxcar. It's about $3.50 for a pint. This is a steam beer, with a smooth taste. It has a good variety even with the limited selection, as opposed to breweries who seem to only make IPAs. The beers are full of flavor, and it seems like a lot to drink even though it's just a pint. As for the food, it's healthy for a bar. Many items are vegetarian friendly, but they still pair well. Falafel comes on a bed of greens. This is about $9 for a big portion. If you're going, they're closed Mondays. It's at Montgomery and Ridge. The parking sucks but there's some spots on Ridge. read more

I had never heard of Nine Giant until my husband mentioned it to me after hearing it from his co-workers. My husband was on a call and mentioned to his co-workers about me being a foodie. One of them said oh you should try Nine Giant's Fried Chicken Sandwich which is only available on Wednesday. That day happened to be Wednesday so my husband wanted to give them a try. The sandwich doesn't become available until 4:00 pm. You can either call it in or order online. Due to the Corona Virus everyone was doing take-out. I placed my order online. All I had to do was arrive and pick up my food labeled on a table by the front door. Quick and easy ordering and pick up. My review is for the chicken sandwich. The sandwich consisted of a thick breaded fried piece of chicken, a blue cheese slaw and a ton of buffalo sauce. In my opinion the sandwich wasn't anything special. It wasn't bad but it wasn't the best fried chicken sandwich I've ever had. It also had to much sauce on it for me. I mean it was drenched, and I'm a sauce person so that should tell you it was a lot. The slaw added some nice crunch. The chicken was a little to thick for my personal liking. It also didn't really have a "I brined the chicken and seasoned it and let it set for hours" taste. In other words not in house homemade seasoned and made chicken breast. It tasted like a doctored up good frozen brand piece of chicken. The fries weren't anything special, just Plain Jane fries. I've never had anything else from Nine Giant other than their Fried Chicken Sandwich. I wasn't super impressed. read more

Went for the first time here. There's really nothing special. The food was okay, the place was clean. Since it was my first time I figured I'll taste their beer, I asked the bartender what's a popular beer or any suggestions from the board. He says it changes alot, and asked what I like. I said, I'm not picky I'll drink anything. He started mumbling, incoherent, couldn't really hear him. And this other bartender said Retrograde. I don't know if they're mocking me or what but that's what I got. But this Retrograde, was an IPA. Nothing special taste like any other IPA. I feel like they had one chance to make a good impression to new customer with their craft, but really that's all you got? That's the best from the board?
