ABSOLUTELY LOVE! Nile Cafe is a hidden hookah lounge, but it is definitely worth the visit. I am a student and I study here all the time. There is outside seating which usually remains quiet or inside as well. There is a "lounge" attached to the place that is more comfy with TV's, board games, and video games which I will go into when I want to take a break from my books. It has a family vibe to it. The staff is really friendly and attentive as well. There are definitely a lot of regulars that I see who love it here. The owners Ahmad & Elias are super friendly and helpful. If I get cold, they bring me a heater, if I am tired they offer me a "special" coffee to wake me up. These men are great hosts! I was surprised when I first tried the food here because it is very tasty. The chicken has great flavors and the falafel pieces are huge. They make their own humus with a hint of spice that I love. Just went here for the first time and loved it! I believe it's under new ownership (I think they said they said they took over August 1st). The food was delicious! My boyfriend is not a huge hummus fan, but thought the hummus was awesome (I thought so too). Also, everyone was very friendly, which made our experience more enjoyable! CHILL ASS SPOT; is all I have to say. First time I came here the workers were attentive. Wished they let you smoke inside bc it's cold outside. Great authentic hookah bar in long beach. The owner is super nice and laughed when I presented my ID card. Hookah lasts a pretty long time and is good quality. This place is not very loud. So i bought a gift certificate from restaurant.com so i decided to use it. This place was really good actually its very small but the environment is very classy, i liked the sofas and the lil tables, very cute. I liked the hookah a lot it was very smooth =) The guy ( i think he's the owner) said that i cant use the certificate with hookah included so i was like on man, and was thinking of ordering more food but we were full and our total needed to be at least $35 without hookah which is $10, but the guy ended up taking it he was really nice so it was only $10 hehe what a deal! read more

I just moved out to Long Beach a couple weeks ago and thought I should try a couple of hookah spots here. I came across Nile Cafe and saw a couple of good reviews. Hookah was cheap $10 but they didn't really have too many flavors to choose from. Also they really cheaped out on coals big time and i say this because they were using bbq mesquite lump charcoal. Yes you read that correctly charcoal used for bbq. I honestly thought they were messing with me when they put that on my bowl. It so happened that the owner was in that night and when i got up to pay, he was a total ass to me. The mesquite lump charcoal gives the hookah a nasty disappointing taste. I left within 3 minutes of receiving my hookah. Overall the hookah here sucks, will have potential if they change their coals to exotica, coco nara, etc... read more

Ordered the chicken plate with rice, hummus, grilled onions, lettuce, and pita bread. Chicken was thin and cooked on an open flame so for me was a bit dry, but the hummus spread upon the chicken balanced it out. What really matters is the service for my to go order, the gentleman who I will presume is the owner was extremely friendly and helpful on the phone. As promised my order was done in 15 min and again when I paid he was very personable and friendly. I would order from here again and recommend to others. Listen up everyone. I am dead serious when I say that if zero stars was an option, I would not hesitate to use it! My best friend who is stationed in Louisiana came to Long Beach with her husband during their vacation time. This happened about the same time last year. Our group decided to visit this place after it popped up on Yelp. We didn't know what to expect. This was our first time going to this place and it seemed sketchy as soon as we rolled up. There were tables and chairs set up outside, but they were all taken. We ran into a group of friends from high school and figured we were going to have a really good time. Welp, as soon as we got there they had to bring out a table and six chairs for us. It took about five minutes. No biggy. Next thing you know, a younger gentleman came up to us with menus and asked how many hookahs we wanted to get started. First of all, the menu is vague and misleading. They only listed flavors, but no pricing whatsoever. That was the first red flag. If they have to explain prices to us instead of listing it on the menu, that's a bit sketchy. Another guy came up to us. He was an older male. He tried to clarify pricing to us, but ended up confusing us even more. We ended up ordering two hookahs with two flavor for around $30. My best friend and I ordered hummus, green tea, and a hot cup of cinnmon milk. The hookahs came out and the watermelon flavor hit so harsh. I don't know if the hookah hadn't been cleaned out or if it was just the flavor, but it was terrible. I don't remember the second flavor, but it was better. The first guy that helped us was chilling with the people we knew from high school. We tried to get his attention to let him know the watermelon was way too harsh. He told us he was clocked out for the night, but grabbed the second guy for us. The other guy didn't show up for about 15 minutes. We ended up cleaning the hookah out ourselves before he came. We explained to him what happened and he tried hitting it for himself. Of course it was fine, my boyfriend cleaned it out before he got there! It's ridiculous that we had to do that, but then he thought we were lying. Our food came out, it was okay. I was already in a pissy mood so I didn't enjoy it much. Shortly after cleaning out the watermelon hookah, it became harsh AGAIN. We cleaned it out. THEN, the other flavor was harsh. I had enough. My best friend, her husband, and their two friends were not satisfied. We wanted to have a word with the manager, but the second guy that "helped" us insisted on taking care of it, but he was so busy with everyone else. My friend's husband and myself had to go inside to speak with the manager who was actually the owner. Once the second guy seen we were in there trying to pay for the food, he rushed inside. We told the owner we weren't paying for the hookah. We weren't even there for 15 minutes and couldn't get a decent hookah. The owner FLIPPED. He started threatening my friend's husband. He got in his face and he wasn't having it. The owner threatened to call the police, but didn't. He told my friend's husband that he was trying to "get smart" with him and started yelling out profanities left and right. the first guy that helped us finally decided to walk in and looked guilty. They were about to fight, but I told them I'd pay for everything. I had my wallet and was ready to leave already. As soon as I did that, the owner told me to "get the f*ck out" and to never come back. We gave the money for the food and drinks. They followed us out and continued talking crap while we walked to the car. I will never in my life come here again. This was the worst experience I've ever had at any establishment in my life. read more

So when I first came to this place not being a hookah smoker I expected just the basics tea, and perhaps some deserts. However what I got I was very surprised to see a place with full middle eastern cuisine offered. So I decided to start with pita bread, which was good. Then I opted for macaroni and chicken egyptian style. Little did I regret this, as it was a very simple dish, yet a very very very delicious one. Also the minced kefta meat really had a very special taste as well. In order to wash all this good food down I decided to get the hisbiscus tea. Another very very very great choice since the aroma alone could satisfy your thirst. The owner ahmed very great service almost outweighed the great food here. The atmosphere of arabic music, and tv's playing was also very good for one of those nights that you get off of work and just want to take it easy. Gosh I love this place! I find myself practically living here at times. The food is AMAZING. It's a hole in the wall, literally, but that's what makes it what it is. It's a spot for locals and regulars. If you're looking for incredible hearty meals and some down time to just sit back and chill with friends I totally recommend it. P.s. James and Sam are so sweet.
