How can I review Nijiya? A regular there or for order in. Is this the best highest omakase quality sushi? NO. Is this great? Always yes. Dunno which one not to order and the AYCE option has never gone wrong. The seafood is always fresh and the servers, although might feel rushed sometimes but they are always patient and smiling and if you frequent enough, you'll get to know the tips. ;) It's a simple place for a casual eat and no frills however ull feel welcomed. The sake is always great and dnt forget to check the Jingle Bells plaque it u r visiting.

I didn't find the buffet price on the menu but I know the cost because this place was originally recommended by a friend. The sushi and hand roll tasted good although sashimi wasn't very fresh. Overall, I enjoyed the dining experience here.

Sashimi! And Rolls!

High quality service. Fast, efficient, and no fuss. One of the best values for sashimi I've ever seen. This is a spot I would recommend to any friend visiting Boston because I think it's genuinely worth it and has a fantastic user experience. Bonus points if you know Chinese as you get to hear gossip. If I had to note a downside, there's only one restroom for gentlemen and one for ladies, so a queue can quickly form. Won't get into the details of many items because it's worth experimenting and trying new things, but will say that their dragon roll is unique. They use yam inside the roll but still topped with unagi and avocado. They also offer vanilla, red bean, and green tea ice cream! Dessert included makes the value skyrocket while boosting the mood.

Best all you can eat sushi in MA. Salmon sashimi was surprisingly good. Special rolls tasty as well. Nigiri on point. I'm shocked at the quality given the price. It's a must try.

AYCE sushi seems to come and go but Nijiya has been a staple now in Medford Square for a decade and doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon. The past few weekends that we have gone, every table has been full and if you're not there by like 6:30 there will be a wait. There is lots of booth space and tables that go together, we have had groups of 12 eat here with no problems in the past. The bar looks full when you walk in but I don't really do mixed drinks so I'm not sure what they offer but it looks like whatever you'd want whipped up. The restaurant itself has a good 20-25 tables overall. Some people would be taken aback by not just jumping right to the raw fish options but I do love their appetizer selection, especially at dinner. The steak is one of my favorites, even if it's not the best I've ever had being a bit tough, the flavor profile does make up for it. Calamari, dumplings, edamame.....all great and of course unlimited. Now on to the really good stuff. Get actual sushi and as much of it as you can handle. I know there is a limit on the menu but I can't remember what it is. I feel its still a very high amount, maybe 20 pieces? I've never come close to hitting it because I also want to dive into a few special rolls. A big goop-heavy on some of them with the mayo, but all have been at least decent quality for AYCE offerings. I've never felt badly or anything after, most are in the 6 to 7/10 range in terms of overall taste. You can't go wrong with any of them if you enjoy the ingredients used, even if you may have to ask what is in each. Service is very helpful, although it does feel rushed at times and the staff doesn't always seem happy to be helping out. They quickly fill drinks, clean off empty plates which can pile up quickly, and are attentive if there is an issue. No complaints, really. Finally, I do need to admit to something here on Yelp I haven't told many people or done since I was like 8 years old eating something of my mom's I didn't like. They have a rule of possibly charging you extra if you don't finish something. While they never have for us, there were a handful of times I spit a bit out into a napkin so we wouldn't be. Sorry, not sorry.

Good AYCE sushi restaurants are hard to come by in the Greater Boston Area and this is one of them! Came here on a Monday night and it was surprisingly packed when we got there at 7pm but only had to wait for 10 minutes. We were then quickly seated and handed our paper slips to fill out our order. What I like about this spot are all their options offered for dinner, specifically all the specialty maki rolls! (Which is what makes this place stand out). They're also all yummy and decent quality with a wide variety! While the quality of the sashimi is just okay, I would come here specifically for the specialty rolls and wide variety.

Good sushi all you can eat! I felt like the order portions were small enough that we could try a lot of different things. I ate too much though...

Best and cheapest sushi spot around! Has the absolute best sushi I've ever had, the avocado maki is my personal favorite. The drinks are very cheap and strong. Place is packed on the weekends making very fun, vibrant and lively. Would 100% recommend

Best ayce sushi in the Boston area!! The fish is fresh and the service is pretty good, so they come out with your order really quick. Plenty of seating but there is a bit of a wait time if you go during rush hours.

Love this place! Came here after a friend recommended it. All you can eat sushi for $35 on week nights. The fish was fresh and the service was incredibly fast. The place is moderately sized and very clean. There is plenty of street parking available. I highly recommend anything salmon or eel. Honestly, the next time I go, I'm planning to just order a big plate of salmon sashimi. Overall, a gem of a restaurant.

I've been here two separate times over the past few months and had a pretty solid experience both times. It's a pretty standard AYCE experience - you order by tallying items from a paper menu and the food comes out pretty quickly after submitting your selections. Water was refilled at a decent rate, albeit we had to ask a few times for it during both visits. The place felt decently clean and it was pretty busy both times so I would say it's pretty popular. The fish was very solid on terms of quality and the quantity of each order was standard - no skimping or stuffing rice either which is a common issue for most all you can eat spots. Overall, solid buffet choice for Medford and I definitely wouldn't hesitate to come back in the future. Service could've been better, but you're not going for amazing wait staff or a super friendly, amazing experience - just good and plentiful sushi.

Came for a friend's birthday with a reservation for twelve on a Friday night. You're given slips of paper to tally what you want. We ordered in groups of four to split the food easier. The sushi came out in a timely manner and tasted fresh. The amount of rice was just right as well. We also got ice cream at the end, which was a good refresher after stuffing ourselves with fish. We ended up being asked to leave after we hung around after paying, as another large group was waiting, which is totally understandable. There's street parking in the area, and we were lucky enough to snag a spot right in front og the restaurant. Overall, a good place for a special occasion, or if you just want to eat a lot of sushi.

Prices were worth giving it a try. Cleanliness and service were questionable. The appetizers were not good.

Can I pay dinner prices during lunch time to get dinner options? Or do dinner options have to be during dinner time?

Yes, you can pay dinner prices during lunchtime.

How much is AYCE currently?

$18 lunch $26 dinner , I believe it's up only $1-$2 since inflation is here. They are number 1 sushi!!!!

Does this AYCE have appetizers included for the price as well?

How many rounds can i order for the AYCE?

As many as you want! You just have a 2 hour limit.

I'm not a fan of mayo. Is it possible to get the rolls that usually contain spicy mayo, without mayo?

Yes, make sure that you inform on floor staffs for any modifications to your order. Thanks!

What age do they consider "senior" for the senior discount? In advance, thanks for a definitive reply.

It comes with 2 bowls of miso soup, which were perfect on a cold winter night. The boat also includes a martini glass with seaweed salad, providing a refreshing, upscale palate cleanser when you need a moment's break from the fish. I was very impressed with the thick cuts for the sashimi, and the toppings on the nigiri also gave a tiny twist to the meal - while yuzu and jalapaeño are common pairings with raw fish, for example, the strawberry-on-salmon was a novel combo for me! The rolls also add appeal for any eating partners who enjoy their fish in another form. There isn't a lot of natural light/windows in the main seating area, so the lighting is dim and gives off an intimate ambiance that's perfect for a date night - no complaints about the service!

It's the perfect spot for a date night or grabbing drinks and dinner with friends. For appetizers, I highly recommend getting the 3 sampler of tuna, salmon, and yellowtail dumpling to try them all. While called dumpling, it's more like a delicious fish rice ball with special sauce. The house special udon with shrimp, scallop, and fish cake was also really good. I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken hibachi! It's good for being hungry because it comes with soup, veggies, rice, and some shrimp. It comes with yum yum sauce which goes well with everything and a sauce for the vegetables. The service was good, we did ask our questions about appetizers and she gave good recommendations. We didn't wait too long for the food. The ambiance here is great! They have Japanese decor on all the walls including paintings of cherry blossom, koi fish, Mt. Fuji, and even flowers on the roof. Overall, the food here is really good and this is a staple restaurant that I'll keep coming back to!

The layout of the restaurant is similar to the Brookline location, with the private booths on the right and special booths on the left, main seating area in the middle, and the bar seating towards the back. Only difference is the Brookline location has those cool matcha whisk structures, while this location has cool honeycomb structures. I would've loved to experience sitting in one of those. I always like to eat spicy so of course I got the Kyushu Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen. As always, broth is so flavorful with the perfect amount of spice. The ramen texture is my favorite, good amount of softness and waviness. The boiled egg is marinated just right, not too salty or sweet. The chashu pork is tender. I wanted to try their version of the spicy cucumbers. It's REALLY spicy. But also very good. The flavor reminds me of the Chinese chili oil sweet potato noodles, very spicy, kind of salty, and a strong taste of vinegar. I love snacking on it. The takoyaki is the best of course, perfectly soft and tender, with thin bonito shavings and great sauce. The fries are essentially seasoned the same way. Salted fries with the takoyaki sauces and bonito. The combo works very well together. Thai tea was good and service was great. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll stop by for another bowl.

We thought…read moreabout trying one of the combo options, but I ended up ordering the curry ramen, and upgrading it for $7 to include a Thai tea and bao bun. The bun was delicious, with tender pork and a flavorful sauce and I loved having the Thai tea to sip on. We also ordered the cucumber salad to share and it was nice and fresh and spicy. My curry ramen was delicious and hearty. My partner ordered the #2 and I really liked the pork in his bowl, I preferred it over the tonkatsu in mine. We ended our meal with matcha tiramisu and during the current promotion, we won an order of popcorn chicken to redeem on our next visit. The restaurant is cozy and they make use of the small space with their honeycomb wall. There are lots of employees working, so service is quick and we were able to call our sever to the table with a button when we wanted to order and pay.

What I can remember is that all the food had great visual appeal. Additionally, the flavors from the main ingredient, sauce, and condiments were artfully balanced. I felt that none of the ingredients in the dishes I ordered were decorative. My only minor disappointment is the small portion (though I get that US portions are typically giant...). Service/wait-time/cleanliness (1.5/2): Great service even if there was only 1-2 waiters. Wait-time is decent. Cleanliness is impeccable. One minor negative is the positioning of some of the table that sees the fan above them--the fan sits just below the light bulb and creates a "strobe-light" effect at night. This was incredibly disturbing for me and I had to face diagonally downwards most of the time to avoid the flickering at the top-corner of my eyes.
