We have been to several of the plays over the years and each one had characters/performers that engulfed the room with their theatrical presence..Being so close to the stage is like being an active participant feeling the array of emotions and witnessing the unfolding of the script. Knowing some of the actors brings a whole different reality....seeing them in character so opposite of their normal personality you wonder if they have a multi personality disorders...Interesting to see the play with a room full of people and the actors act as if we did not exist and were watching through a one way mirror. All of them completely consumed with perfection for the roles being played...Being a one stage setup the change of scenes are limited but effective. To compliment the evening they have a well stocked bar of local wines, beverages and treats.....

Spacious stage area in the main building with lots of room for seating. Class space in the back with a full wall of mirrors, perfect for dance or fitness. She is learning poise and discipline in a world where children seem to be able to do whatever they want. She is taught wonderful life lessons as well as the importance of exercise. She was a bit of a clumsy little girl when she started but she is turning into quite the graceful young lady with the help of her favorite teacher Lily. The tuition is very reasonable and they have just redesigned the website and I love the auto payments! The small studio is tucked behind Starbucks and next to the Vietnamese restaurant. My husband and I like to hang out during happy hour next door while she has her lessons. I wish there were more class options because it is hard for us to come from Occidental from school and have her quickly get dressed in before class. She also is sad that the only other class time for her is during her concert band rehearsal. Maybe next year it will work out for her to take two classes.. hopefully it does because I think to be in that one it might be required. Make sure your child goes to this studio if you are thinking about dance at a young age. No matter what dance they ultimately want to study in life every one would benefit from a solid ballet foundation and this is exactly what this studio and their awesome instructors can give you.

It's really the antithesis of what I and many others have thought of in the past when it comes to improv--things like extroversion, performance, sharp wit, sometimes even an effort to outshine other players. Laura and Zipline turn all of this on its head and allow us to see ourselves and each other with lightness & humor. And in an interesting way, we can even cultivate our own courage to use our voices simply by watching Laura and her team collaborate. Of course, the best way to truly 'go there' is to participate in her improv classes. I happen to know Laura's heart well enough to recognize that she makes her offerings based on a deep desire to help all of us appreciate and have faith in who we are and revel in the delight of our imaginations.

This last time, we were offered blankets to either sit on or cover ourselves as the theatre was a little cool. What a nice surprise! We have never been disappointed by the productions. Talented actors, fun props (Mary Poppins was flying!) and a live orchestra tops it off!

But what really makes it special is the staff. They are incredible. Every single person who works here is warm, professional, and genuinely invested in creating great experiences for both performers and the community. You can tell they care deeply about supporting local arts and bringing people together. Sonoma County is lucky to have a venue like this. If you haven't been to a show here yet, you're missing out!

This year I've seen a musical where the songs actually supported the plot and all actors were outstanding. Another play had moments of humor and deep sadness as the two leads navigated the difference between their dreams and their reality. And, last night, I attended a play based on air guitar competition -- which surprised me with the depth each character developed in between outrageous air guitar performances. Try it out! The new season begins in September -- and The California Theater on 7th Street offers a variety of comedy, musical and dance band options throughout the week when the plays are dark. It's amazing!

I have this secret rule of thumb: the quality of entertainment and food is inversely proportional to the distance one is from San Francisco. Left Edge is an exception. Sofie and I saw the production of "Bad Jews". The Left Edge mission statement: "We endeavor to thrill, challenge, and engage audiences with ideas that make us think more, laugh more, and feel more." - "Bad Jews" delivered on the mission statement. It was funny and provoking. The actors were carefully selected for their ability to portray New York Jews - so the main characters were from New York. I was impressed with the quality of acting. I was totally absorbed in the characters. From Santa Rosa, San Francisco productions include a long drive, difficulty of parking, hassle to fight for a place to eat and the long drive back. Left Edge has SF beat on all of these issues as it's located within the Luther Burbank Center (Formerly Wells Fargo Center) where parking is free and easy, no long drives and plenty of places to dine. If one enjoys live stage drama, Left Edge should be experienced. Tickets are about $25, seating is at one's choice and since the theatre is small, there are no bad seats. You could tell they put a lot of thought into making the space festive and inviting. I never really got into pinball before, but it ended up being fun and something different to try. They also have nostalgic arcade games like Street Fighter and Pac Man, which brought back a lot of memories and were fun for all of us. One of the highlights was their self serve beer system. You get a card that lets you sample different local beers straight from the tap and then pay only for what you drink at the end. I ended up experimenting and mixing some together lol The kids really enjoyed it too, which made the experience even better. It is a great spot for families, and having one clean bathroom on site was definitely appreciated. Overall, Rewind feels like a unique community space where everyone can find something to enjoy. Wednesday's 20 bucks gets you 4 hours of retro arcade and pinball game time!
