Its theater in the round so every seat is a great seat. The actors and actresses are all from leading Universities and Performing Arts Centers around the country and they have very high skill levels. The first of 3 Musicals was Bonnie and Clyde. We didn't how it would adapt to a Musical but don't worry, it was excellent. The lead roles of Bonnie and Clyde had really good singing voices as well as acting ability. We thoroughly enjoyed this first Musical. Coming up in the next few weeks are Mamma Mia and Pippin. Can't wait! Considering the quality of the performers the cost of the shows is an excellent value. Look for some of these kids in future shows on Broadway, they are that good!

The theater was comfortable and well designed, with excellent sightlines that made virtually every seat feel like a good one. The lobby and public areas were especially inviting and created opportunities for more personal interaction with the headliner before and after the program. Ticketing was smooth and efficient, the concession area was well staffed with a good selection, and the restrooms were clean and well maintained. Even the exterior spaces were pleasant for waiting before the doors opened, and the attractive front of the building added to the overall experience. From arrival through the end of a wonderful program, the venue was welcoming, convenient, and very well suited to this type of event.

Once inside, we got a glass of the Sonoma County red blend and HenHouse hazy ipa from one of two concessions stands in the lobby, both beverages in theater cups that come with lids and are reusable for just $3 extra. Staff was friendly and helpful at the event, whether serving us drinks or helping us find our seats. The venue was plain looking both inside and outside. The seats in the auditorium (Ruth Finley Person Theater) were basic but not uncomfortable. And the view, even from the last row in the back on the lower level, was decent. Sound from the stage was fine, clear enough that I could hear every single word the comedian used to keep the crowd rolling with laughter, including myself of course. Good times!

My sister and I went here to see a movie at 7:45pm on a Wednesday. The place was pretty much empty…read more Having never been there before we got no direction from the person at the counter. When asked he said third floor theater 9. So we trekked up the stairs and found theater 9 with no issue. The third floor was exactly like the first floor with a full unmanned counter and sitting area. We were early and entered when the other show was ending. A masked lady came in and said, "Thank you for coming". I responded that we just got here and she said everyone must leave so I can clean. Well, okay that's weird, but we left and she came out a few minutes later. Anyway, all in all it was a nice theater with older regular seats. No fancy recliners here, but our theater had plenty of room and we liked the way the seats were laid out. The older bathroom definitely had Sebastopol iron water stains on the toilets, but functional. When we left after the show we found downstairs devoid of staff. It def gave us a bit of the heebie jeebies.

I was totally happy with the Avalon players' "Sonoma Shakespeare"…read more My two "more local" Summer Shakespeare festivals have (sadly!!! sniff sniff..) disappeared over the past few years so I talked my friends into driving to Sonoma in the heat to see Sonoma Shakespeare's "As You Like It".... And lucked out. This is summer amateur theater at its best thanks to: mostly good actors (and one great one: Aaron Bremner in the role of Orlando....); a beautiful setting (Buena Vista winery replete with picnic tables in the shade); great balmy evening; lively audience; a perfect "period" setting; Kate Kennedy's lively interpretation of the play that included some very funny ad-libbing; sing-along songs ("let it be"(?), Allelujah, stuff like that....); actors borrowing glasses of wine off our tables. Merry Mild Mayhem... Sure there were flaws: actors not on mics so couldn't hear everything they said; action takes place 'in the round' all around the fountain so couldn't see everything either. But I didn't care! Although my friend (and I) sorely missed what we loved about the brilliant "Shakespeare at the Cannery" (which had its last season in Santa Rosa in 2018), I was perfectly happy with the Avalon players' "Sonoma Shakespeare". I want people to know about it! I assume they will perform again next year?

I'm planning to go back and bring my 13 year old,though we are cautioned that "some material may not be suitable for younger children"because it addresses such themes as sexuality (though there is no nudity or overt sexual conduct on stage) ,"fecal samples" and use of marijuana psychedelic drugs. The theater was very clean as I walked in. The theater was completely full. The recliner seat was extremely comfortable during the movie and was in great condition. It was very loud, almost too loud, and the picture was excellent.
