My external hard drive crashed all of a sudden, no warning. All of my computer backups, all of my…read morefamily photos, all of my work files, school files, everything, was on this 3TB external drive. I was stupid not to have a second backup or online backup, but... I do now. Anyway... TOTAL PANIC when it crashed!! I ran several well-reviewed diagnostic/specialty programs to try to recover the drive myself with those software solutions. It was clearly a hardware issue, and the programs confirmed that I needed a clean lab to open up my drive to have a chance to save it''s hardware. I researched a lot, and ignored the bargain basement type places, because everyone knows those are scams. Secure Data Recovery worked on my drive for about a month, because they ran into trouble and needed to try some different techniques, but they ended up recovering everything!! The customer service was the best I''ve experienced with any company. Frederick Wright, my service agent, was exceptional. Professional, fast responses, friendly, and always kept me up to date with what was going on. The price was a bit of a shocker, but honestly, when it comes to 10+ years of photos of your life, you can''t put a price on it. My drive dying is a bigger deal than a major appliance needing replacement (at least that''s how I justified the cost). I do believe that SDR put in a lot of time on my drive to earn their income from me. Anyone with questions are welcome to send me a FB message, I''m happy to offer advice/tips. I rate Secure Data Recovery an A+, and if it''s valuable, you should trust the best to save it.

When my hard drive failed, I desperately needed to find a reputable service. I looked at reviews online and chose SDRS because not only were the reviews positive, but there was a conveniently located office where I could drop off my hdd. One of the most important points about their service has to be the communication you get from the account representative. You'll hear from them early and often, keeping you well informed of the entire process. Compared to other experiences I've had with support reps, this has been one of the best. Besides the communication, SDRS was able to work with me on pricing, making it much more affordable, thus permitting earlier access to the fully recovered data than would otherwise be possible. The entire process was very smooth and quick, and exceeded my expectations. With no other data recovery experiences to compare to, I still give them 5 stars.

A while back, I contacted Chipheads for a comparison quote on the replacement of a laptop keyboard and frame after a water spill fried a touchpad. The first place I had visited for a quote was a lovely one-man shop that quoted me $300 minimum for the repair - and that was with full awareness that I'd already purchased my own replacement parts and therefore all cost on his part was purely labor. He also communicated clearly that accessing the keyboard area required moving multiple parts he was not entirely familiar with and laughed that he would have to give me the $2000+ laptop he'd tried to sell me if the repair didn't go well. I left the establishment unconvinced of his capability to fix my also $2000+ design powerhouse that had not left my side since I got her. Enter Chipheads. I contacted via the general email address on the website, outlining the general situation and requesting a quote. Chipheads teammate Scott responded, and the quote he gave was comparable. I then emailed to confirm that I'd ordered the right parts before making the decision to put my laptop basically in the hospital right before I was going to be gone for a full two weeks, so I wouldn't be able to get her back even if the parts were wrong and repairs could not be done. Scott never responded to that email, and I had to leave for my out-of-town event. When I'm home, I rely on my laptop heavily, so dropping off when I'm not occupied with an event is not ideal. When another long event came up on my schedule, I contacted Chipheads again, this time creating a new email thread directing back to the general email address - the previous thread had directed to Scott's email address after we connected. I admit that I was hoping that I would connect with Jarret this time, and I did. He responded not only quickly but also giving me the option of a two-week repair period for less than $200. I'd be occupied with my event for exactly that amount of time anyway, so this was perfect. When I arrived the day before my event started, Jarret was with another guest. Both the impression that the first shop had given me about the delicate nature of my repair and my own experience in tinkering with laptops and electronics in general added to why I specifically waited to speak directly with Jarret given the impression of reliability he gave me in our correspondence. I dropped my laptop off with Jarret the day before my event started. Less than 48 hours later, he called to let me know that my laptop was ready for pickup. That was back in August. I specifically waited to ensure that the laptop was in perfect working order before leaving a review. It's now October. Safe to say, my laptop is in good health. Dropping one star for Scott dropping the ball on communication. Regardless, I'd wholeheartedly recommend Chipheads for your repair and upgrade needs.

They also charge you two times for repair for both products and services. I recommend watching a YT and buy component yourself and you save ton of money by installing them yourself. Also you avoid their passive aggressiveness and rudeness.

Beware of this business, here are the reasons. Went PC Doddle today to have my HP laptop repaired,…read moreno diagnostic issues, just needed parts, hinge and screws; the cover of my laptop came loose. PC Doodle requested my pin number to access my data, which I asked why do you need my pin since I do not have any diagnostic issues with my computer whatsoever, however, the agent behind the counter continued to insist that I provide my pin. I ask the agent, what is the legitimate business reason for wanting my pin since there's not a diagnostic issue, the agent became angry, teary eyed, his anger was obvious, still, in continued to request my pin, knowing all along it was not required or necessary to fix the cover of my laptop; actually, the service I was requesting doesn't even require that my laptop be turned on, he still insisted, I just decided to leave. Soon after I left PC Doodle, I went to another computer repair establishment, "Ubreakifix", located in Uptown Minneapolis on West Lake Street, which I highly recommend; they took my computer, ordered the parts, no questions asked, nor did Ubreakifix require me to submit pin for service since there is no diagnostic issues; they went on to say, if there was a diagnostic issue, they require their customers to create a "guest profile", creating a pin for that guest profile as a measure to protect customer privacy. PC Doodle never, never mentioned this alternative, therefore, PC Doodle's persistence that pins be provided for customer computers without a legitimate business case for the pin, this is a concern and very disturbing. This constitutes an unnecessary intrusion of customer privacy. Beware of this business, whereas requesting pins from customers without a legitimate business reason to request the pin, I will not trust this business. If you don't need a PIN to fix the laptop, then why would PC Doodle ask for it? Doesn't make any sense.
