From start to finish Nico was an amazing experience. I booked a reservation for myself and 3 of my girlfriends on Resy for dinner on a Saturday night. Per their instructions, I called when I arrived and they told me my table was ready and to come on up. Nico is taking every precaution they can in regards to COVID19. They had everyone wash their hands in an outside sink before entering. I heard some other people kind of grumble about that but personally I think it's great. We got seated and our server came to our table immediately and got our drink order. When she came back to the table with the drinks we already knew what we wanted to order. We ordered tons of little things because we wanted to try everything- mussels, roasted oysters, a cheese plate, calamari, potatoes gratin, mushrooms, ratatouille, pomme frites (with this amazing cheese sauce), and a burger which we split 4 ways. The food came out super fast and I'm not lying when I say every single thing was amazing. There was not one thing I can even complain the slightest bit about. After we all left we talked about how amazing the food was for hours afterwards. I can't wait to bring my husband here. Go to Nico, you will not regret it. Great place for Oysters in Mt. Pleasant. Fresh, ice cold & delicious! The Le steak du Boucher and whole main lobster are amazing! Along with the potato gratin. The Lobster Roll is decent , but could have more chunks of lobster. Have had better lobster rolls, but still worth the order. We tried Nico's for lunch. We ordered fried oysters and calamari(I know not the healthiest choices) but the oysters were tough and the calamari was the least exciting calamari we've ever eaten. Usually calamari is fried with some herbs or something to spice them up, but these were very bland. Sauces for both were the same and also not exciting. I'm guessing that raw oysters would be the better choice. Service was good, but when asked about water we said we would like still water, we weren't expecting a bottle of still water for $8. An upsale, which I hate. Everyone else was smarter than us and said tap water I guess(which is also still water) I guess. DUH! Sounds like a rookie mistake on our part but we eat out a lot so we weren't expecting that. There are a lot of restaurants in Charleston, so this one won't be on our list again. read more

I am not a foodie but i'll admit i am super picky when it comes to food. I just want it to be good, i don't care if it looks like a van Gogh painting. Living in New York City i have some of the worlds best cuisine at my finger tips and NICO did not disappoint! Came to Shem's Creek for my birthday which is on St Patrick's Day... Nico was on my list but after a long day of birthday beers and tequila shots at Reds we decided that a sit down dinner is not what we needed. (WE NEEDED A NAP) I came back to Nico on a quiet Monday night. We were a bit confused at first when we only saw the raw bar on the menu. Finally after a couple of minutes our server pointed out the other pages of the menu hiding behind. A bit weird choice on menu presentation style but who really cares about that anyway? OK to the important thing. THE MEAL! We didn't have any cocktails (it was our last day in Charleston i needed another hydration iv by this time) We started with the baked oysters, which are basically training wheels for raw oysters (Again this was our last day my stomach could not handle raw oysters at this point (VIDAFLOW I NEED A SPONSORSHIP) They were amazing! A month later and i am still thinking about them! We followed the oysters with the fire roasted fish which was sword, potatoes gratin and asparagus and peas. I will be back in June and plan on going in the beginning of my trip to make sure i can enjoy some oysters! read more

I decided on a cheeseburger, and it was the best choice I've ever made! Hands down, the BEST burger I've ever had in my life. My wife and I had Sunday brunch on their patio several months back. The food and service was outstanding. It was so good we decided to make reservations for dinner the following Saturday evening. We sat at the bar and ordered a cocktail. within 10 minutes we were approached by a waiter two times asking if we were ready to order. We explained we were not and planned to order a bottle of wine...which we did at that point. Note, between cocktails and wine we were already over $100 check. within another 5 minutes the waiter was back again pressuring us to order. after our first app we noticed an interesting app called OR. we asked the bartender to place an order for us. He said he'd have the waiter place our order right after he completes this one. The order he was already making was picked up by a waiter and brought to a table outside. Within minutes the waiter returned with the raw fish app and placed it under the sink. You guessed it, about 3 minutes later very covertly he returned picked it up and tried to serve it to us. Unreal! I told him what I observed and that I didn't want anyone else's raw fish. He then said, "this was made for you and I took it to the wrong table". He didn't know we asked the bartender what the order was he was making...the order that was for another table which was being prepared before we ordered. Here's where is get really interesting. He brought the app to the back where a tall young man was expediting food between the kitchen and wait staff. They were about 10 feet away from my wife and I. The waiter explained the situation and the expediter grabbed the app, through it in the trash, and said, "Jesus Christ"! We settled out bill, which was now over $200 and left NEVER TO RETURN AGAIN. The following Tuesday I called and spoke with one of the managers. He seemed very young and in a big hurry. In a nutshell I got a, "sorry"! Prior to this hopefully, isolated event, I would rate their food 3.5 stars and service 3. Its unfortunate, we live less than a mile from Nico and we so hoped they would be a good and professionally ran restaurant. read more

NICO is the Waffle House of Charleston Seafood purveyors; the difference is Waffle House prints no substitutions on the menu, at NICO the arrogant kitchen policy is delivered by the waiter. The explanation provided is that almost all the prep work is done in bulk simply to be dumped on the food in the kitchen. Due to this policy, with some dietary restrictions, I was severely limited in choices. I chose the only appetizer within my dietary restrictions and it was served very hot as in burned. I asked for the whole Maine lobster at market price with a request for omitting the garlic butter usually put on the lobster before broiling. Instead of using regular butter, the chef omitted it and the lobster arrived broiled to a hard dry entree. Whatever you do never got to NICO in Charleston. read more
