We had a leaking toilet situation. With this water shortage /drought problem we all are facing, I was anxious to find a Handyman who could come right away and fix this problem. Through the website, I found Nick, whom I've never met or heard before and decided to call him. Luckily he was not too far from where I was and was available within 3 hrs. After a few questions, he came over with all the parts that were needed and got that toilet working again in such a short time. And, charged me reasonably!! Overpriced and unresolved. That was my experience when we had Nick come over to help fix a fan switch. He spent an hour only to figure out which wires were hot in one switch (which could have been done in a much shorter time) and left without solving the problem and identifying the cause even. Though he quoted a much lower price initially for just the diagnosis (50$) he charged an hours cost (125$) for not even diagnosing the problem that felt like a ripoff. I booked an appointment with Nick to help clean up the clogged rain gutters. After asking for details about the house such as number of storeys, neighborhood etc, he gave me an approximate quote and said he could do the job at 3pm the next day. As requested, I texted him my address a few minutes after our conversation. Nick did not show up on the scheduled day nor did he have the courtesy or professionalism to let me know that he couldn't make it. He did not respond to texts or calls when i tried to reach him and his voicemail was full. So, based on my experience, Nick is not trustworthy or professional. I called for a leaking toilet and he had an appointment for that same day, which sounded great. He showed up two hours late without notifying me of the delay. When he finally did show up, he replaced the seal on the pipe. $150 later, my toilet started leaking again... When things break, things need fix. My outdoor spigot leaks and Nick came out on Labor Day with same day appointment. After fixing the spigot, he found the high water pressure and offered me a pressure regulator valve. He installed everything and everything seems to work better. I guess the high water pressure is a Newark/Fremont thing, it bugged me ever since I moved to my house 2 years ago because it causes the annoying pipe clunking and banging. I had no idea how to fix it, but Nick took care of it with a regulator. I was like Wow!!! Nick is not the cheapest, he is reasonable. If you want the cheapest then do it yourself. I called Nick on a Saturday evening because my AirBnB renters told me the upstairs toilet was leaking through the downstairs living room ceiling. Despite the fact that I had never used him before, Nick came right away and just charged me his standard hourly rate, not anything extra for a Saturday night. This involved the bidet toilet, a little more complicated than your average toilet, and he knew what to do right away. Then he took a look at the ceiling because he was concerned dampness might be caught in there and cause mold. However, he realized it was plaster, not sheetrock, and said there would be no problem as plaster allows moisture to wick out. I would call him again for anything, not just plumbing. read more

If only 0 stars were an option, I would choose that. Nick is the most unprofessional tasker I have ever dealt with. I initially reached out to him 4 days ago trying to schedule him for a plumbing emergency I noticed moving into my new house. Our schedules didn't allow for him to arrive the first day, so we tried again for the next day. He is the worst communicator and will leave you hanging without any courtesy notice. He does not value his potential customers time and selfishly is consumed in his own issues. I'm sure he does great work at his convenience whenever he wants to make money, but when there is an emergency that can't wait for him to decide if that day is a day he feels like working, then you are better off going with any of the hundred other handymen who are willing to accommodate your job. I hired Nick two times- Once to wall mount TVs and then to fix recess lights and bath accessories. Both time, he did a great job. The only point that could have been better is using shoe covers so that I do not have to clean the floor (like most people of Indian origin, we do not use shoes within house). Called Nick on Tuesday to replace a 40 gallon water heater. He quoted us $950 parts AND labor but said he would need us to go with him to buy the parts because he did not have the money. I felt like $950 parts AND labor was pretty steep since I knew a water heater was about $500-$600 and being mechanically inclined myself, I KNEW the job should only take about 2hrs. BUT I have a day job so what the hell! Get it done. He said he would be at the house between 6:30 and 7pm. 7pm no Nick so my brother checks with him and he said he will be there ASAP. 8pm no Nick! So we called him to see where he was? He said sorry it's too late now! I can't make it tonight but I can come between 9:30 and 10am the next day! I personally had worked a 12hr shift already and had to be up at 4am SO, at 8pm it was too late for me to go to Home Depot and install this water heater myself. 10am the next morning and guess what? No Nick! He shows up at 10:30 without a courtesy call after already leaving us hanging without hot water the night before. My brother goes with him to Home Depot and buys the water heater and new water lines. $550! Nick was at our house a total of 3 hours INCLUDING the trip to Home Depot. He then proceeds to ask my brother $950?! My brother, not being mechanical, settles with him for $750?! Are you kidding me? $250 per hour to remove an old water heater and LITERALLY reattach 2 water lines, 1 gas line and 1 relief valve?! That is completely unacceptable and wrong! Screw this guy! I don't know who all these 4 and 5 stars are coming from but they must not know the difference between a phillips and a flat head screw driver if they think this guy is fair, punctual or honest or any of the other good things they have stated about him! If I had been home, I would have paid him $300 and told him to kick rocks! Dude is a crook preying on uninformed home owners! read more

I called Nick @ 4:30 pm on a Friday afternoon to install a toilet paper holder. I didn't think I would find anyone at this late hour, but Nick showed up on time about an hour later. The installation required cutting a rectangular hole in existing painted drywall. He did a great job doing the installation. The dispenser was level and fit snugly in the cutout and the total installation only took 30 minutes. His price was competitive. good job, Nick! read more

I have selected this business after reviewing the high ratings for this business. Well, I have had a very bad experience in all aspects. Did not show up for appointment, High price, problem not fully resolved, used the time at some other customer's place because of double booking and did not inform me of delays until I called. At the end of the work the outlet with the metal box on the ceiling is completely visible (not inside the ceiling), along with two ugly holes on both sides of the outlet. And then refusing to do a minor replacement, even though there was extra one hour in the 4 hour work we negotiated for. Here is the timeline of events. I called a week or so back and got an appointment for a particular date and time. Nick has not showed up for the appointment. After waiting for one and half hours I called him and he said he was coming in 20 minutes. He showed up after half an hour. Tasks to be performed: 1. Fix one projector to the ceiling and, replace a light fixture on the ceiling with a wall power outlet. No additional wiring involved. 2. Install two blinds on two small windows. Quote: 4 hours of work. And he also said, during the initial phone call and during the day of work, that he would work on any minor stuff around the house if there was any time left with in the negotiated 4 hour work. 3. Then he went out to get a small metal plate for the outlet. He did not return for two and half hours. I called to find out where he was and also asked if he was double booked. He said he was attending to 'some stuff' and be back in 15 minutes. He came back in 25 minutes and told me he got a call for some urgent leak and had to attend, that's the reason for missing for 2 and half hours. (So is this common or did he just gave appointment to two customers for the same times?) 4. Then he finished fixing the projector and replaced the light fixture with the wall outlet. Then he finished fixing the windows blinds. Of course the outlet in the ceiling did not go inside the ceiling and had two holes around it which he said I had to get fixed through other means. And I was ok with that and did not complain about. 5. I asked him to replace another wall outlet on a wall with a usb outlet (it was probably going to take 10 to 15 minutes). And he refused saying it's already 4 hours. I went through the entire time line of when he came in and went out. How he actually went out for two and half hours working for some other customer. It added up to 2 and half hours. Even if the shopping was an entire hour to get a metal box, it still added up to 3 and half hours. He argued for 10 minutes how he did not keep track of time and how much work is involved etc etc. Then after I went through the timeline one more time he agreed to fix it but at which point I had enough and told him there was no need for it. Because it did not appear there were any professional principles involved with this business. This is a really bad experience. At the end of it there is a projector that's hanging out with ugly wires and one half installed outlet with holes in the ceiling around it. The space around it wasn't cleared enough to his satisfaction, had to ask three times what clearance was needed to get an answer, then he promptly left and said call me when you're ready.
