Scheduled an appointment based on the good reviews here. HOWEVER, Not a good experience overall. Don't know why others are giving high reviews. Maybe he is treating new customers differently? I needed two ceiling lights installed and change remote for a ceiling fan. Nick charged $200 for installing and 100 for diagnosis. First I think this is high compared to others. Additionally, He said one of my wire is not working, and said he cannot fix it without opening the wall. But one of the wire is actually working! (I checked this the day before and told him that myself). I am not sure if he just doesn't want to spend too much time on me or he is not capable of figuring it out. So if I didn't check it myself , I would be tricked. This is what I cannot tolerate no matter what. There is one good thing. Most handymen offer free estimates. Nick asks for $50. Even a license plumber wouldn't ask for $50. Who does he think he should put a burden on the consumers? 2. Nick would insist that you get everything ready upon his arrival and also charge you additional fees to pick up the parts. So just you are aware: Everything has a charge with Nick. 3. As a landlord, we are running a business too. All deductions require a receipt. Nick would quick to hold consumers accountable for all their actions. However, after the job was completed, Nick was not prepared to provide a receipt. We asked for a temporary one by writing on a piece of paper. Nick promised to issue an official receipt later and it was never issued. When we followed up with Nick, he gave us all kinds of hard time and excuses. At the end, no formal receipt was emailed to us as promised by him. I waited for 5 days before writing this review and I checked spam mails. As a legitimate business owner, If you open a business and compensated for your work, you should issue a receipt for your customers. Btw, Nick is no longer working on Sundays as indicated in the prior reviews. Overall, our experience with Nick is that he is very hard to deal with and very self serving with very little regards to his customers! Will we recommend him? Absolutely NOT!!! I don't know if I caught him on an off day. He quoted $70 for fixing a clogged toilet bowl on the phone. When he got to my place, he said it'll be a 100. We agreed on $70 (Yelp has a deal listed $50 for $60 for this business). He fixed the clog in no time, which is great. I did not have change to pay him, I only had 20s. So he offered to tighten the toilet seat for $10. I asked him if he could do the rest of the toilet seats as well. At this point he should have mentioned that it would cost more. Once he was done he says it was $10 for each toilet seat. That is a ripoff! Also, he should have made it clear that he would charge $10 per seat before doing the job. As I said earlier, I may have caught him on an off day (given the other glowing reviews he has). But, he sure tried to nickel and dime me, and that is not very professional. read more

Unlike most handymen, Nick does the following: 1) Responds promptly to voicemails / texts 2) States a price for the work after asking relevant questions 3) Does not take the job if he if is not confident of the results 4) Shows up on time 5) Does the work and tests it thoroughly before leaving 6) Provides written invoices promptly If you don't understand why this is 5 star service you likely haven't tried hiring a handyman in the Bay Area. I asked Nick to switch out a ceiling fan with a new fixture. It took about 2 hours of work and cost $120. If you want somebody to do it real cheap with no assurances or receipts you can always swing by Home Depot and take your chances, but I like supporting actual businesses. read more

A total waste of time. Terrible experience. Avoid if you can. I first scheduled an appointment with him. He showed up 2 hours late and charged me $50 for diagnosis. We then scheduled another appointment one week later for the actual fix. It was 30 minutes after our scheduled time and I called him, he said he couldn't come and asked to reschedule. So instead of him telling me ahead of time, I had to take time off work, wait at home and call him just to know that he couldn't come. But anyway we rescheduled to the following week. This time he not only didn't show up, but also didn't reply to my texts, or answer my phone calls, or call me back. I gave Nick's Quick Fix a call on a Sunday and asked for some minor work to be done; drywall repair and some recaulking. He said he could make it on Tuesday at 12 and gave me a quote as well. I was at the site early, gave him a call after about fifteen minutes to confirm that he was indeed coming. He said he would be an hour late. I was pretty confident that he would make it since he has such stellar yelp reviews. At 1:30 I gave him another call and he said he would be there by 3pm. I wasn't too confident at this point but nonetheless I waited for him to show up. He never showed up. I gave him a couple more calls after that and he never picked up. read more

Three words - Incompetent, Unprofessional & Greedy. This is for work done roughly a month ago and I wanted to cool off before I review, to make sure I am being objective. We took a quote from him to do a few fairly simple tasks... screw in some window shades, floating book rack and baby gate. We agreed on a price and time to get it done. He shows up two hours early, generally not a problem but it was a working day and I was supposed to get baby gates before he comes. So they never got fixed, but we chose to pay him the full agreed price. We eventually regret hiring him for the below reasons. Incompetence - I could have done all the window shades myself but there was one window high up, that needs a ladder. Also you would use a L bracket to fix the shade. The type of stuff you rather a professional handyman do. This is 90% of the reason why I hired a guy than do it myself. You guessed it right, he refused to do this since he (Mr. Professional Handyman) did know how to fix using a L bracket. I insisted he is a professional and should be able figure out. This guy wouldn't stop talking about how he is a professional and hence will not do stuff he doesn't know... its an L bracket, not rocket science. Bonus tip - Dale hardware guy showed my wife how to fix it and I did it in 15 minutes myself the next day. So when this guy claims "Handyman" take it for what its worth. Unprofessional - Be warned, he wont stop talking up he being a professional. The second task of fixing a floating book shelf (three screws basically) was messed up too. We showed a spot where we like it to be and he offset it. The door wouldn't fully open, since the book rack now blocks it. Of course he later claims that's the spot we pointed. Just like he refused to fix the window shade saying "only professional job or nothing" here he chose to lower his "professional" standards. So when he can't stop talking about professionalism, take that for what its worth too. Greed - His quote was too high but we agreed on it so I rather not comment on it. But when he showed up early and hence we couldn't get the baby gate fixed, I still paid the full negotiated price. However, when I pointed out the wrong bookshelf placement, the guy wanted additional 60$ to comeback and re-do it. THE JOB HE MESSED UP in the first place. His typical reaction is endless talk about stuff related to nothing. We offered him an opportunity to do the right thing but also promised to share feedback for the benefit of others.
